So undecided! I'm 8 days post section and still struggling with pain and very high blood pressure. After a horrible pregnancy and 14 weeks on bedrest, I've just had enough. DS now 4 was born at 29 weeks and we had so many feeding issues. Current baby feeds like a dream but is lazy on the breast so I've been expressing and mixing with formula but just can't face it any more! Not sure what help/advice I'm looking for, just feel incredibly guilty!

DS will feed for about five mins on the breast and then stop. Just close his eyes and sleep. No amount of waking will encourage him to continue. Having had a prem baby with my first i had to top up and he ended up preferring the bottle. At present i need to give top ups and feed frequently as DS has jaundice and pushing milk forces it out the body. That's why i feel a bit trapped!x

Babies can spend a short amount of time feeding for various reasons, some just want to feed little and often. Some are very effective feeders so take the same amount of milk in 5 mins than another baby may take in an hour.
Time at the breast is not a good indicator of how much milk the baby is taking.

Some feed for short periods due to milk transfer issues, such a tounge tie so tire easily and fall asleep.

Breast compressions can be a good way to get more milk into him as he starts to fall asleep.

Can you let him sleep at your breast and then he'll probably take more milk as he stirs/wakes up. Lots of newborns feed like this - bit of milk, sleep, bit more milk!

Paced feeding can help him not to get a bottle preference, plus lots of time at the breast.

Are you looking to find a way to get him off the tops ups? Sorry, I wasn't sure from your posts.
