Going to the gym after birth?

(Sorry if this is the wrong category. And also please no body shaming. I know I'm over weight which is why I want to sort myself out, be kind, please)

I want to get in shape after having my son, i didnt really do much before I was pregnant and went up to a size 24-26 when pregnant but now after having him I've actually gone down to a size smaller than I was before I was even pregnant (yay) its really made me want to sort myself out and decoded since my best friend is dieting, that we are going to join a gym together to get lots of excersise. I know it won't happen over night but it will help.

My question is, we have our trial day tomorrow (she booked it and then told me) but I only had my baby 4 weeks ago. My delivery had complications, I had to have assistance because my son came out "back to back" and completely tore me, they had to get a surgeon in to see if I needed emergency surgery luckily I didn't, but I did have ALOT of stitches and only in the past few days stopped bleeding.

Im hoping one day won't hurt for now as I don't want to let my friend down, but is it to soon to going regularly (afew times a week) or should I wait afew more Weeks?

(Ps - since the trial is tomorrow I won't be able to/have time to speak to my doctor about it as the appointments are booked weeks in advance)

Thank you in advance for advice/information :)

I'd go, but not do anything at all strenuous (more looking and listening). You should ideally wait until your own 6 week check is done. But go now to get the ball rolling and keep momentum

Oh by one day won't hurt I just mean the trial day. I'm not going to gym the gym until I know its OK to. Which is why I'm looking for advice :)

You could use the trial to get shown how to use all the equipment but I wouldn't use it yourself. You could do very gentle exercise like walking on the treadmill and little bit of stretching. I wouldn't try much else at this stage. Definitely don't try to lift/pull any wieghts or
Machines. Also beware of stress incontinence. You could wear a towel just in case if your pelvic floor is weak still. I think it's great that you want to get healthy btw! Good luck!

I really wouldn't use any equipment just yet - anything strenuous can lead to prolapse when your pelvic floor is still so weak. Have a look around and wait a few more weeks to get cracking would be my advice. Good luck!

With that sort of delivery I would be booking in to see a women's health physio and checking the state of your pelvic floor before doing any sort of gym going. The trial day should be find if you're not actually doing any weights, but with a decent tear your pelvic floor will be compromised and you need to be careful.
