Prolapse?

Ds2 is 5 months old. He was born with the assistance of forceps and episiotomy, in a hurry. Back to back, 10lb 13.5. (Dc1 was c section)

Episiotomy healed well, I've been really lucky I think.

No one has checked me since about 2weeks after birth.

I feel that there is some sort of slight prolapse. Which is worse now than at the start. Nothing is actually coming out as such, but something has definitely moved downwards and is kind of holding the entrance. To my vagina slightly open.

Is this classed as prolapse and of so, is there anything that can be done?

Should I see the Gp sooner rather than later?

Hi, I've not had a prolapse but it's my understanding that in the beginning they start you off with pelvic floor excercises and refer you for physio.

I would start with the excercises and book a GP appointment. If those things don't help you can see a specialist and explore other treatments. Good luck.

I had/have a mild prolapse. I would suggest seeing your GP initially. If they send you away to do your pelvic floors, push to see an NHS physio. If they say no then go private. The peace of mind of seeing a private physio really helped and wasn't too expensive £35 per session/South East. I used to do my physio exercises during nap times during mat leave.

Also try not to google it too much as there are some real extremes of prolapse. I still have a bulge but I don't have any big symptoms. I just avoid running and impact sports on my physio's advice.

Good luck!

Thanks squashy. I've been doing the pelvic floor exercises exactly as 'prescribed' since he was born, and indeed through pregnancy. Theres been no.improvement. Slight worsening in fact.

Actually I suppose there has been an improvement in that I can more bladder control, but no visual improvement.

Hi notta lotta. Sorry to hear about your issues! Definitely see a good women's health physio (pay to go private if you can at all afford it. ) here are a list

Although pelvic floor excercises help some women they in fact made my pelvic floor more tense ! If you see a women's health physio they can teach you how to do them correctly.

It is possible to heal . This woman has a blog about how she did

Did you have any bruising or swelling after delivery? Since you had forceps I would recommend you find a physio who knows about avulsions. I have torn some of my pelvicfloor off my pubic bone and have a prolapse because of this. My physio is helping me to bulk up other muscles to compensate for what isn't there anymore. One of the songs of avulsion is doing lots of pelvic floor exercises and not seeing improvements, because the muscle isn't there any more.

Thanks. I had a lot of swelling, I don't early know about bruising, certainly felt bruised! He was back to back so was turned with forceps then helped out with them, in a hurry.

How did you know about the muscle tear smells I've wondered because I have a pain, low down in my abdomen, kind of where my c section scar is and I didn't have it before this pregnancy. It's when I sit up .
