Retained placenta - anyone had similar/advice/reassurance

Hi, hopefully someone can give me some reassurance here. I gave birth nearly 8 months ago now and the placenta was completly retained. After a birth with only gas and air (and ventouse after meconium and she got stuck!) I then had to have an epidural to have it removed. The surgeon was as sure as she could be that the placenta was all out and gave me info of things to look out for.

The midwife checks in the days following the birth found that my uterus had retracted fantastically, I had very little bleeding that stopped quickly, no pain, no discharge so I forgot all about the retained placenta, happy that there couldn't be anything left. I ebf up to six months and still breast feed on demand and I've had no period yet. I have though had the odd twinge and some discomfort sometimes during sex so after mentioning that to my gp she sent me for an ultra sound as she though scaring from giving birth or ovarian cysts. The results have come back that there is a 'something' in the cavity of my uterus. I now have to go for a camera thingy to see what it is - scar tissue, placenta or a miscarriage that has not expelled. I also learned not to google as the results said Uterine cancer! Confused

Has anyone else had a retained placenta and then had to have it removed? Even with no symptoms? I've had a bit of a bad week anyway and am now worrying about this!

I had a retained placenta after a miscarriage, a D & C and a night in hospital sorted it out no problem. Some people don't even spend the night. Try not to worry, it is a very simple procedure.
