Over active thyroid after pregnancy

After birth I felt knackered and had various other symptoms such as palpatations and extreme hunger. All of which could be post partum /anemic / breastfeeding stuff. But I just felt above & beyond the achey and tired that I'd ever felt. Like there was something else wrong. Blood test have revealed that I've got an over active thyroid. I thought as much through DR google but I don't know what the outcome will be as my GP needs to speak to a specialist first. Just wonder if anyone has any experience they can share. I didn't lose any weight though - far from it!
Thanks

I had this after having my last baby.
I actually thought I had PND because I felt like I was going mad. I was bf so thought the weight loss was because of that and my hair was falling out in clumps too.
I started medication and had beta blockers for the symptoms too, it normalised after a few months anyway and I've been off the medication for 2 years now.
I'm pregnant again and am being monitored but so far so good, doc said as it was post partum it's more likely to occur again then.
Hope that helps!

Yes interesting thank you silly sausage. Love your mn name!

Without wanting to sound flippant I really wish I was experiencing weight loss! This is my second pregnancy and I don't think I had it last time. But who knows?!
I am tired and achey though

Since having my son, all I have been is tired and not very motivated among other things. I don't remember feeling like this before. I also am under weight when I was a normal weight before pregnancy. My son is three and only now have I realised that it may be linked to my pregnancy (and suffering after having him) I've not had a blood test since my 12wk scan... But am soon to make an appt for it.

Lonz it was almost a relief to find out that there was a reason. I hope you find some answers

The weight loss was the only upside. That and all the cleaning!
The sweats and hair loss were pretty crap though, I was relieved to have it diagnosed though as I seriously thought I was going mad.
I took vitamin E supplements and my hair stopped falling out straight away.
The drugs do take a while to take effect but the beta blockers are good for the symptoms. Hope you get some relief soon

I was a bit worried about this after my first pregnancy as my weight plummeted and hair was coming out majorly, was having anxiety attacks and palpitations but I was also having a horrible time at work so put it down to that.
I put it out of my mind and fell pregnant with dd2 but now I'm getting concerned again as the palpitations and mood swings have started again and my reflexologist picked up an issue with my thyroid at my last session (without any input from me).
My friend had it and j know it can be managed well with medication. I hope you start to feel better. Xx
