Postnatal hair loss

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Baby is almost 7 months and I've been losing it since 5 months. I have been reassured that it's normal but even though mine has slowed down, I'm worried that it is excessive Sad
My hair is seriously lighter, receding at the temples and I have patches at both sides above my ears.

I can't tie up my hair so I'm doing my best to leave it down.

I've just swept the kitchen floor and it's worse than a hairdressers, I'm finding it very upsetting. There is hair all over the house, the car, the bed, the baby...

I can see new 'baby' hair along the hairline so I know it will grow back but I'm just worried that this will go on and I'll lose even more.

Has anyone had this before or going through it now and what advice have you?

I went through this very same thing. In fact my hair took a spectacular bashing as I had a baby, then just as it was growing back, I got pneumonia (while pregnant again) and was very ill so it fell out again, then, I had the next baby and all of what had grown back fell out! I Have a lot of baby hair all over my head now, in amongst my longer hair - so I'm sure it's trying to grow back. I have cut my hair into a nice long bob and only really use straighteners or hair dryers any more. It always seems worse than it is because pregnancy can make your hair lovely and thick!

That should read 'I don't use straighteners or hair dryers'.

Are you anaemic? This doesn't help. Go to docs for blood tests and get vitamin tabs.

I think it can be normal. While you're pregnabt your hair tends not to fall out as much as usual, then you have the baby and it more than makes up for it. However, see your GP. Both anaemia and thyroid problems are common post nataly and both can cause hair loss.

Rotten but perfectly normal.

I'd watch my own posts baby hair running down the plughole in clumps with absolute horror! Dh said it was living with a golden retriever. It goes on for ages.

But it will calm down.

Thanks for replies. Glad to see I'm not the only one but I think I will go to my GP.

Mine was awful after dd1. It was bad enough then I had horrible work stress and more of it fell out because of that. It only just started recovering then I fell pregnant again. Dreading it this time. Have switched to silicone and sulphate free hair care to try and help.
