I will keep this quick and to the point. I have finally admitted to myself, after ignoring symptoms for so long, that i may have pnd 12 months after my baby was born.

I really want to talk to my DP about it, and get the courage to see my GP, but have no idea where to start ð???

He is sat opposite me watching a movie and i just cant find the words to start the conversation.

Any words of wisdom, anything to give me a nudge would be much appreciated. I feel so sad and i feel ready to do something to make it go away.

I started by asking my dh if he'd noticed a difference in me since we'd had our baby.

My dh is quite easy to talk to so although I was nervous it opened up the conversation.

Talking to the gp was a lot easier. I was given tablets to help me and they really have made a difference.

Good luck and well done for asking for help! Thanks

Thanks so much for replies.

Do they suggest tablets to begin with or do they prefer to start with counselling/therapy etc?

Just wanted to second pp, PND is really common. Your doctor will talk through available options, but don't be scared of taking tablets; they get a bad rep but they are just medicine. I'm not saying that you must take them, just that don't avoid them for the sake of it. I was sceptical about them but they saved my life.

They may ask you to do a questionnaire like the one your HV may have done with you in the early days.
Well done for talking to your DP. It's a really tough step, so you've done so well to do it.

I hope that you start to feel better soon. Good luck with the GP.

Hey MrsMaker83! I've just read your post & wondered if you made the move to talk to DP or GP about how you're feeling?
I realised I had PN Anxiety/Depression when DS was 8/9 months but let it get out of control, started AD tablets at 11months & have just finished them at 21mths - best thing I ever did being honest about how I felt, there's no wrong in it, it just is what it is (a whole heap of hormones playing tricks on your mind!) if AD's aren't for you, have you tried CBT or mindfulness?

Hope you're ok Smile
