Postnatal discharge *sorry if TMI*

Hi, I have spent days googling and have finally come here for some advice. I am almost 7 weeks postnatal, had 2 weeks of bleeding, 2 more weeks of lighter pink/brown bleeding and since then I've had yellow discharge which has an unpleasant smell. I've also had crampy pains on and off. I asked about the discharge at my 6 week check last week but the doctor didn't give me any idea as to whether it was the end of the lochia or an infection, however she examined me and took and swab, the results of which aren't back yet.
She said everything looked ok and she couldn't see any discharge but the speculum was AGONY (and I don't find them painful usually) - far worse than any of the internals I had during my induction of labour!! On Saturday the yellow discharge got heavier and the crampy pains got stronger. The discharge is now mucousy looking and is almost green tinged at times - a bit like snot to put it bluntly Confused and today I've had constant cramping as if my period is starting but all I am getting is gushes of the discharge (fwiw I'm EBF so not really expecting a period at the minute).
I called out of hours when it got worse on sat and was given treatment for possible thrush but that hasn't helped, plus I didn't have any itching etc.
I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there who has experienced this? Could it be an infection or is it just the end of the lochia? I'm driving myself mad worrying whether there's an infection brewing and it's also really getting me down as I feel disgusting!!
I'd be so grateful if anyone can help me Smile

It sounds like an infection. Please go back and see your gp.

Thank you, I will go back and see them.

An update to this if anyone has any suggestions - after the birth I had a heavy, achey feeling down below especially if I stood up for too long. I thought it was to do with my stitches healing and it went away after 3 weeks or so. This last week though it has come back and has been particularly bad today. Google has got me convinced it's a sign of a prolapse?
I can't help worrying that it will never be remotely like normal down there again Sad

Please can anyone offer any words of reassurance or advice? Is this normal after giving birth? Maybe I am just being overly anxious and expecting too much too soon

The discharge sounds like an infection to me, so go back to the GP even if the swaps come back clear as something isn't right. I had mucusy discharge up to about 6 weeks post partum, but it was clear (like EWCM) and odourless. I was convince if was EWCM and I was ovulating, but midwife said it was likely just cervical lining coming away. It was definitely not green, yellow or smelly though.

The heavy feeling sounds normal to me, and I had a c section! I put it down to achy pelvic floor muscles - even with a c section, the pelvic floor has supported the pregnancy and is knackered. I am now nearly 10 weeks post partum, but still feel achy/draggy/like I want to bear down a bit if I lift too much or push something heavy. I could push the pram for miles, but lifting heavy boxes or pushing a full shopping trolley is still hard on the pelvic floor.

Thanks so much for your reassurance that the aching is normal. What you describe sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing, I think I'd forgotten the fact that like you say, the pelvic floor supports the pregnancy for 9 months so is bound to be a bit knackered.
Do you think pelvic floor exercises are the way forward in that case?

Yeah am thinking GP as far as the discharge, still not had the swab results back but going to go back as it just doesn't feel right.

I think i naively expected to be back to normal by 6 weeks PP! Hope your recovery is going smoothly post c section

Discharge doesn't sound right to me I'm 6 weeks and mine is a bit smelly but not too bad, yellow/creamy in colour and not overly heavy. If it's gushy and greenish then i'd get that checked

I too had the heavy sensation after birth. Can't comment on the speculum pain as I'm yet to put anything up there!!
