It's started! About 4 1/2 months post partum. Angry
Coming out at an alarming rate.
Anything I can do (suppliments, shampoo) before I'm as bald as my baby??

No. I always had masses too but never got bald patches. Do you have any or was that lighthearted Smile

What no one warns you is about four months after the hair loss you have four months of tufty regrowth. Glam.Hmm

Don't worry, it's very normal after having a baby usually from about 3 - 7 months after the birth. It's to do with the change in hormone levels. My hairdresser had warned me about it beforehand

FaFoutis · 01/02/2015 20:13

It happened to me every time. Grew back in so I looked like a tufty coconut every time too. I don't think you can do anything, it is normal.

Get a nice scarf / hat.

Blasting it down with a hairdryer and then serum (or spray hairspray on your hands and rub over if you have greasy hair like me) helps. A bit

Do not put hair in a ponytail. Bad for self esteem Wink

Penguins I have some naturally thin patches as when I was a teen I had trich (compulsive hair pulling) ... dh assures me these don't show but I'm terrified they'll lose more/show! Shock

I remembered I used to do an old man comb-over and hold down with a nice slide. Don't stand under strong lights.

You will have your hair back before you know it OP.

squizita · 01/02/2015 20:21

Am considering a short choppy hair cut to minimise the tufting!

Thank goodness it's winter. I can wear a hat with no one asking why. Wink

I have thin patches from a reaction to drugs. The baby-hair loss and regrowth helped those to thicken up a bit if anything.

gamerchick · 01/02/2015 20:25

The most irritating part of having babies. You could always tell where I had been sitting and who blocked the plughole up. Then there's the itchy, spiky regrowth that drives you mad.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 01/02/2015 20:25

It'll be summer when it's all tufty. DS is 9 months and I have hit peak tufty!

Most women don't lose lots of hair (although it feels like it). Pregnancy hormones reduce normal hair loss. When those go, eventually all the hair that would have fallen out in those 9 months all goes at once. So you lose that lovely bouncy pregnancy hair, but for most women it won't get worse than pre-pregnancy. You get tufts because a higher percentage of hair than normal is in the early re-growth at the same time.
