Zj, am glad dh will be home soon! Am also impressed with your domestic ability.

Ds1 is having his breakfast in the living room watching tv . If he had it in the kitchen I would've had to tidy up, sort out the washing etc & I just couldn't be bothered this morning!

Kayz & Verso, sympathies with the non-sleeping. Verso, I didn't really expect anyone to be on the thread with me!

Effie, I also like a glass of wine & book in the bath. Think I might do that later today! I have one of these, perfect for holding my wine!

Nolda · 28/03/2009 08:37

Kayz sorry you had a bad night too. I didn't mean to leave you out.

ZJ I'm glad for you that your DH is back today. Here's me moaning about one day. I need to pull myself together.

rosisdreamingofchocolate · 28/03/2009 08:55

Arti, am sure you will still have fun

pmk1 · 28/03/2009 09:03

Effie that red wine warming in the bath tip is brilliant, and Ros that bath caddy is pure genius! I often fumble with my book and generally don't enjoy the whole process for fear of dropping the book, which kind of defeats the purpose really!
Zoe so glad your dh is almost home I'm still in bed but in my defense I feel like crap stuffy nose sore throat... I hope ds won't catch it as i'm drained.
Arti I hope your day in nice and the feeding ok...

EffiePerine · 28/03/2009 09:17

Really like the look of the bath caddy. Tho as I'm short-sighted I need to hold my book an inch from my nose. I have dropped a few books in the bath (sigh) so I restrict myself to cheap paperbacks.

Sorry about all the bad nights. This too shall pass...

Arti: enjoy the wedding! I'm sure you will look great

pmk1 · 28/03/2009 09:20

Yay! B's Aussie passport just arrived! Photo as soon as I get together the energy!! And his new bath ring! Just have to get the caddy now and I'm set!

OP posts:
rosisdreamingofchocolate · 28/03/2009 09:24

pmk, what's the bath ring? Am curious as ds2 is getting too big for his bath seat so need to find something else to use!

I do love my bath caddy! Though I use the book rest just to put my book down when I'm getting in & out, I find it quite awkward to read from it. Effie, I go for cheap paperbacks as well, learnt my lesson after dropping a library book in once!

pmk1 · 28/03/2009 09:33

Ros It's this one : bath ring It just looked more comfy than the others as it has a sponge seat. Says from 6 months so I'll see how he goes, but he's pretty good at holding himself so I might pad it out with towels and of course i'll be in there with him, but won't take the wine this time tonight!

Oh dear. We're steering DS1 away from earwigged swearing so DH tried 'oh my sainted aunt' which DS1 promptly parrotted as 'oh my painted arse'

kayzr · 28/03/2009 09:53

LMAO Effie That is brilliant!!

forgive me if i have told this story before, but when my nephew was about 2? I took him grocery shopping, and on the way out we went past the bottle shop which had a glass window / wall within a shopping centre, and I was saying out loud "I'm sure I've forgotton something on the list" to which he replied "Mummy & Daddy juice" while pointing at the bottle shop! I loled so hard!

Ros - I very nearly logged on at that time - wish I had and we could have nattered! P did another Night of Many Wakings but she's just so cute that i can't hold it against her for more than about a minute!

Zoe - hope DH is now safely home with his Goddess Wife!

verso - I'm sorry you're finding your mum so unsupportive. I think from her shoes she probably can see how hard all this is for you and is no doubt desperate to be able to do something else to help, and giving bottle feeds is one way she could feel useful I guess. So even if it's not the answer I imagine she's not intending to be so irritating. Hope you get a much better night tonight...roll on your next night off!

in the toddler entertainment bag I always kept one of those magnetic doodle board things - a little one where you write on it with a magnetic pen and then slide the thing across to remove the picture. Do you know what I mean?

Lucy has been drawing again this morning...I thought it was a traditional farmyard picture - we had a goat, a dog, a farmer and a sheep. the sheep had red splotches all over it so I asked if they were the farmer's markings so he knows which sheep are his, to which she replied "no that sheep has only just been born so it's covered in blood". Nice.

traceface · 28/03/2009 15:17

by the way just thought I'd mention Child Benefit. Everyone is entitled to it and it's not means tested at all. We get about £20 week for Lucy and £12 for Phoebe - not massive amounts but definitely worth having. Anyway they will only back-date it for up to 3 months, so if you've not applied yet, bear that in mind! You are probably all more organised than me and sorted this out, but it's one of those things that DH and I assumed the other one would sort, so we've only just got round to it.

Turniphead1 · 28/03/2009 16:53

Trace thanks for the heads up on child benefit!! Had totally forgotten!!

katie3677 · 28/03/2009 17:11

Can't even begin to keep up or remember who said what.
Trace DS showed me a picture a few weeks ago that he did at childrens liturgy, and told me it was Jesus throwing tomatoes to make juice , turns out it was Jesus throwing the Jews out of the Temple .

Just got my kitchen so am a few £ lighter but much happier that it is all beginning to take shape.

Have been in a partucularly black mood today, not helped by DH going into work this morning and then since he got home has been putting the kitchen together with his brother, so completely ignoring the kids. I sometimes feel that all I ever do is feed, change nappies, wash faces and prepare food. Of course I appreciate that he is the one bringing home the bacon at the moment, but sometimes would like 5 mins to myself. Moan, moan, sorry!

Will come back when I'm chirpier

Veggiemummy · 28/03/2009 17:25

Bookmarking myself hi all hope everyone well lots to read see you later

EffiePerine · 28/03/2009 17:39

Katie: I feel like this often, esp now I'm on ML and the children are 'my' job. DH is actually pretty good and v busy with work, but I'm on duty from first thing till bedtime and then when DS2 wakes at night... it is hard and you are entitled to moan!

Well, I just took the DSs to the park, walked there, through the park and to the cafe only for a nice woman to point out that I had a bra hanging from my coat lining . Luckily a) there were few peoplde about thanks to the weather and b) it was clean!

rosisdreamingofchocolate · 28/03/2009 17:45

Effie, oh dear, at least it was clean!

Effie/Katie, ikwym, in our 'job' we're on duty 24hrs a day but our dh's just do 9-5 (or whatever their hours are!). I generally love it but yes, the lack of 'me' time does grate a bit. Katie, I usually go and have a bath once the dss are in bed, would you be able to do that for a bit of space?

Trace, thanks for CB reminder. Plus they will backdate it for 3 months!

We've had a cosy afternoon today. As its raining, dh & ds1 went to the supermarket & got a dvd and some treats & all four of us have snuggled up to watch the film (Kung Fu Panda)!

EffiePerine · 28/03/2009 17:48

Ros: we watched that a few weeks ago - DS1 fell asleep 10 mins it but DH and I enjoyed it

See, if we'd stayed in and watched a film I could have avoided the humiliation . On the bright side, it has cheered DH up no end (he has been in a bad mood since he burned the dinner).

Veggiemummy · 28/03/2009 18:25

Posting as I go along so I don't forget. Rose I think you mean Aussie rules football, am a bit against it and Rugby league which is also big in Australia but very sweet of your friend to do that. Also you could sell the voucher on eBay, you may get £20 for it and someone gets extra cheap Boden clothes.

JJ I now want that treacle tart. With lemon and Ginger it has to be good for me, lemon is one of my 5 a day and Ginger is full of zinc. It would be wrong not t have it.

rosisdreamingofchocolate · 28/03/2009 18:31

veggie, good tip for ebay, thanks! And yes I did mean aussie rules! Not something I watch but it was sweet. We're rugby union fans in our house!
