I do have a double buggy LadyT but DD1 would refuse to sit in it once we were in the shops and she would create mayhem while I was in the changing rooms (last month in Phase8 we were not looking and she took some very fancy shoes from the shelf and tried them on and actually manged to walk until she fell over into the window display). I think Westfield is open quite late on Fridays so I might manage to get there once the girls are asleep if I can summon the energy. Sadly none of my friends are my new size... (although I may soon venture back to the weight loss thread as I lost quite a bit with the mastitis so I am feeling motivated again).

LadyThompson · 27/03/2009 14:11

Oh gosh, I hope you find something. If not, do you have something you can adapt and then dash to Westfield later just to buy a nice wrap or accessory or something? It's a downer not having something good to wear for an event. I was really underdressed (and badly dressed) last night and it depressed me.

artichokes · 27/03/2009 14:15

I have one outfit which would be OK except it is a dress and there is no way I can BF in it. Given that I have DD2 with me in the church and for the first hour of the reception I will need to feed her. If I wear the dress I will have to roll it up around my neck exposing all my control underwear and corsets!

I have just checked and Westfield is open until 10pm. I will have to make the effort to go as I must have a nice outfit as this is an uber posh event in Kings Chapel with lots of very smart people. However, it is depressing to spend money on an outift you hope not to fit into ever again.

Veggiemummy · 27/03/2009 14:15

Arti Lol at your DDs window shenanigans, were they at least nice shoes.

Veggiemummy · 27/03/2009 14:17

Could you express a bit and bottle feed do you feel up to expressing?

artichokes · 27/03/2009 14:23

I am a little scared of expressing Veggie - my breast is still abit sore. Also DD2 does not take a bottle, she would scream blue murder if I produced one during the service.

The shoes were very red and VERY high and had bows on. Quite a girlie girl my daughter.

Veggie Yeah I guess so (Bin) - Congrats to your ds2 on the citizenship news! Re: that dual thing - I have Aust, Brit and US G/C & Aust Emb said it's no problem from their point of view to get a 3rd passport, however it may be for the US - although I know a couple of people in the US with 3 (however not Aussie's) and the USA just ignores the fact they have anything other than the US one, however, I'm not sure I could go through with the official part where you have to "agree to support the US in war etc" Having said all that - I could well have landed a dodgy person on the phone who gave me the wrong information.....
Anyway, I have no intention of obtaining US Citizenship for myself or DS1 - I'm currently wondering what to do about G/C. I just got a nasty letter from the State of CA demanding a tax return to be filed for 2007 -Oops
Thanks for the info on formula - very smart tip about the shop across the road too!!

Oh that's cool PMK about the nationality thing not that I'm planning to collect anymore but nice to know I can.

pmk1 · 27/03/2009 14:38

Veggie I just got an email saying B's passport has been dispatched yay! Wallabies clad baby photo coming shortly! Looking forward to the socceroo's photo!!
Kayz sorry about your Dad's news. My Mum had breast cancer but fortunately was caught early and made a full recovery, but a really scary time. Hopefully it will be all ok.
Lady I'm always doing things like that - the other week I got the bus as I couldn't be assed walking to the tube and I got on with 5 Oyster cards (from when my family were here) and not one of them had any credit! Then when I found the 6th one it had just enough, only to I realized I'd got on the wrong bus! Fortunately the nice bus driver gave me a ticket for the next bus!

well i'm not 100% on it - as you know what the people working at these immigration "help" lines can be like!

Aw, love all this passport talk. O's came two days ago and I can't stop looking at it. Even though she has a strange shaped head in the photo, like Zippy (she doesn't normally).

LadyThompson · 27/03/2009 14:58

DD's passport piccy

rosisdreamingofchocolate · 27/03/2009 15:02

LadyT, lol. & she'll have that until she's 5!

artichokes · 27/03/2009 15:03

oh, LadyT, she is such a stunner. those big blue eyes and that lovely tan .

LadyThompson · 27/03/2009 15:05

Ha ha ha. I like to think she has something of a resemblance to DP's side of the family in that picture.

artichokes · 27/03/2009 15:12

my DD2's passport pic

LadyThompson · 27/03/2009 15:14

That's a pretty impressive set of gnashers for one so young, Arti. She must be very well nourished

artichokes · 27/03/2009 15:20

yes, she is a joy to breastfeed
seriously the face shape and colouring are strikingly similar

Veggiemummy · 27/03/2009 15:24

veggie runs to the loo as nearly peeing her pants

I think you win Arti !!!

Nolda · 27/03/2009 16:12

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Kayz. Fingers crossed it turns out OK.

JollyBear · 27/03/2009 16:49

Afternoon ladies,

arti and ladyT I almost woke DD up snorting at your LO's passport 'photos' .

trace I do the 'I need a new exciting haircut' thing a lot. I usually have a sweeping fringe cut, then spend months pinning the damn annoying thing back and then a few months later think, mmm I'd like a fringe. Madness! Well done on the jeans, what a bargain!

I've loved hearing about all the fun Sindy stuff people had. daisy Lovely memory of Live Aid! I was very lucky to have the house, if they still made them I'd get one for DD. Sindys were a good toy because you could use your imagination. I added a pregnant belly onto a Sindy using plasticine once!

mom Our house must face east as we have the same bright sun problem in the morning. I've added a second set of curtains like a liner and that works really well.

That's reassuring to hear re the c-section and getting down to business.

zoe LOL at you directing your mum into the bus station! I don't feel so bad now. Only one more sleep until your DH is back, hope it's a good one. DH left for the stag weekend today, fingers crossed for a good night!

Jam I chuckled a lot at your LO holding up a poo!

kayz Ignore your MIL. If mine buys me clothes as presents they are always about three sizes too big! I make a point of exchanging them yet still they come . I hope your Dad is OK. As the others have said, treatment is very good these days.

Veggie Hurray for DS being an aussie! DD's passport arrived today - I only posted it off on Tuesday aft .

arti I hope you find something. I tried a lovely dress on in a Coast consession in Debenhams today as I'm looking for a dress for a wedding sadly I was too tall for it. The waist ended up too high if you see what I mean. It was a wrap dress with little sleeves. It would mean you could breastfeed pretty easily (it was cut low) if you had a vest or slip underneath. I've had a quick look for a link but I can't see one.

kayzr · 27/03/2009 16:57

ARGHHHHH!!!!

I just went to the toilet and I heard something get put through the door. So I came down and there was a card with mine and DH's names on it. "Ooooh" I thought.

Anyway it is a card for 'Freida'.

"To Freida Happy second birthday, sorry it's late(not that you'd notice as you are only 2) Lots of love Annabel(Old lady in red coat, shops in Co-Op and knows Mummy and Daddy).

This woman is ever ever so lovely but ever since he was born she has called Freddie Freida. I haven't seen her in ages and someone told me she had died, but obviously she hasn't. I can't begin to tell you how many times we have told her that Freddie is a boy. She often moaned at me for putting her in blue.

I suppose I shouldn't complain really, it can go with the rest of Freddie/Freida's cards.

I was told her DD was called Freida as her husband is German so maybe that is why.

jumpjockey · 27/03/2009 16:59

Jings! (as DH would probably not actually say) You're a chatty lot...

well to catch up from yesterday -

daisy- hurrah for self settling babies! Hope the lesson stays learned

verso how fab about the night off, really hope it becomes a proper regular rest for you. And great news about the doctor as well - makes life so much easier if you see the same person who knows you and your history and what's going on in your life. And sounds like you had another (relatively!) good night too - hurrah

meet on the 8th - sounds good

trace - erk, hope you're feeling less bleary now. Coffee...? How was Leeds? What a cute story about the sunday school lessons

veggie that's really interesting about the night wakings, will try to feed up dd during the day, we had a bit of a shocker again last night (don't want to go into detail but suffice to say her first waking was at 11.30 then another 5 times and was up for the day at 7 [mainlines espresso]) And great news about the little citizen of the world!

LadyT yikes what a scary handvoer - am imagining you passing dd over while running alongside the train like a 1940s movie heroine kissing her sailor boyfriend as he goes off to war...

kayz fingers crossed for your dad

arti ooh will keep an eye out for you in Cambridge Glad you got a babysitter sorted, I was no help at all on that front

zoe dh nearly home now... The treacle tart, blimey, the filling was too much for the case so I put the rest into little cake cases (dreaful waste otherwise!) and baked them alongside the main tart, then had them with cream on for pud last night [chubber] mmmmmm Gordon Ramsey's recipe with lemon and ginger, it's soooo good and hey lemon and ginger makes it into a cold cure

Am loving the passport photos We're hoping to go to Canadia to visit my bro and SIL and nephew - he's 2 and I've not yet met him apart from via Skype so must get dd a passport. How fantastically exciting!

And now must get round to clearing the dining table for dinner - does anyone know if you can freeze fish pate? I made far too much and there's no way we'll get through it all! It's really easy, just get some smoked mackerel, soft cheese (ricotta or mascarpone if you're feeling really indulgent), lemon juice, whizz it all up, bung in a bowl and bingo
