Well dd is enrolled to start school when she is 5 it is hard to believe. She is so excited (not sure why) I'm sure it will wear off quickly.
All good in our house, I have 5 mobile and happy children what more can a mother ask for (maybe a holiday sometime soon)

Fennel · 03/02/2009 13:06

Hi just spotted this thread

hi HD, yes dd3 is absolutely fine in school, she's always been easygoing and used to being left places. Also, she does have two sisters and a cousin, and it's a cosy little school so they all play together at play time and eat their lunch together.

(whispers) But she hasn't got the faintest idea of how to read. Not at all. She's never been one for doing things young.

hewlettsdaughter · 04/02/2009 22:11

Ah, there's plenty of time for all that

Chuffed - I'm really glad everything is going well for you. Is there any chance of a holiday sometime soon?

Well indeed, and the other two being keen readers at 8 and 7 does make me think that dd3 will be an OK reader, sooner or later. Probably later.

I am so impressed by Chuffed's coping with 5 small children. We used to be pretty stressed out with 3 under 5, though it's a lot easier these days.

oo, that's exciting - lovely news

(don't know if you had posted this elsewhere on mn, but I hadn't spotted it)

that is great to hear YG. So glad you are doing good.

Some stress here especially as we are about to sell the house (how the hell we will deal with open homes I don't know).
I have moments but most of the time the children are a pleasure and I'm really sad about dd going to school I like having her at home every afternoon.

Happy Birthday to all our 5 year olds this month

LucyJones · 01/04/2009 15:58

ooh Yorkiegirl hope it is going well

Haven't been on mumsnet for ages...life is just slightly busy.
dd1 has started school and my mornings are awful trying to get all 5 into the car and out the door.
2 of the girls are now walking - I can't believe they are now 14mths and real little girls with their own personalities for sure.
ds is struggling with his big sister being at school and told me today that he doesn't like my job and when I asked him what my job was he started listing off washing, washing, more washing, feeding, tidying. I feel a bit bad now that the girls aren't sleeping as much ds is missing out in having time with me.
We sold our house and had a month between when we had to move out and when we could move into our rental so after staying with family for 2 of those weeks all 7 of us trooped off to Phuket for 15nights. It was fantastic we had a great time although it would have been easier to have seats for all the girls not just 1. Us poor adults didn't get a break with a baby each.
Now that it is winter here dd and ds have been asking us most days when we are going back to Thailand. We wish, no washing, cooking, cleaning, 2 parents to share the load 24/7.
How is everybody? Any news?

hewlettsdaughter · 07/07/2009 11:29

Phuket sounds good Chuffed. Two weeks of term to go here. We have just learned that the local authority are putting forward a proposal for a 'super-academy' (for 3-18 year olds) in our area which will involve our primary school and a local secondary school merging. Really don't want this to happen - we are getting a petition together at the moment.

OP posts:
Chuffed · 31/07/2009 04:07

Yes I think I'd be petitioning too, a bit hard to keep track and have personal learning with that many children and age ranges.
All good on our end - dd is enjoying school although I think the novelty has worn off and she enjoyed the latest 2wks of school holidays telling me after her first day back that she would like 1 day of school and 1 day of holidays and carry on like that.
Have been pretty impressed with the school so far for assessment and keeping on top of her levels.

MrsDoolittle · 11/03/2010 14:15

Anyone else thinking about this thread now our dc's are nearly six???
I have the village hall booked. We're having a disco!!

hewlettsdaughter · 31/03/2010 18:20

Happy birthday all. We are having a party at home.

This time last year DD's primary school was under threat of closure - it's not happening any more though (think the local authority realised that their plans weren't going to work - and the pressure we put on them helped!)

OP posts:
LucyJones · 20/04/2010 10:20

happy Birthday t all our 6 yr olds

Chuffed · 13/05/2010 09:41

Yes hard to believe it was so long ago now that we were in the pre-natal group.
dd had an ice skating party inspired by the winter olympics. Very fun, hard to believe she is only 6 sometimes it is like having a mini teenager other times.
Just got back from 8 days in Fiji I have to have something to look forward to holiday wise, hard to believe this time next year the triplets will be able to go into kids club now that will be a different type of holiday.
Very busy for us at the mo the little ones are 2 and 3x two yr olds do not make a relaxed mum or a happy 4yr old brother. They are lots of fun sometimes and are very different.
MrsD you heading to NZ anytime soon?
