Hi all

My son will be 4.5 months or so when we move next month. We are self-packing (and are quite good at it - 6 times in the past 11 years), but a professional company will come to do the move. Seeing that I struggle to get the house cleaned as often as I would like let alone all those other things what do I do with the little angel/devil while I pack? Watching me pack from his bouncy chair will work for 20mins,his playmat another 20, he is not great at napping in his cot during the day, he is still bf so cannot be packed off for the day. Any advice gratefully received.

I moved when ds1 was five months or so when we moved. We did pay to get packed though (which was heaven). Can you pay for a cleaning co. to do the house once you've moved out, save yourself that at least? Friend/mother/mil to come over for a few hours to take him for a walk whilst you pack with ebm or between feeds? What about carrying him a bit more, do you have a sling? Will he nap anywhere else if not the cot e.g. in the buggy if you walk him first? Or may just have to accept that you do most of it at night and dp/dh helps a lot too! You may just find that he gets better at napping in the meantime and it comes together!

We moved when DD was 13 weeks old.
We did have the removals company pack for us and it was brilliant. They arrived and about 5 hours later everything was packed.
What took the time and was difficult was the unpacking and in our case re-assembling flat pack furniature. If you have friends to help draft them in. DD watched for a while and then moaned a lot. Moving from room to room maight help and the change from mat to chair. You could also try to pop out for a quick drive/ walk to get him off to sleep then rush back to do a bit more while he is asleep.
Sorry if this isn't much help but it does let you know it can be done.
