ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

LOL at your dinner dilema Natty, but glad it turned out ok, you could start a new style of cooking. My dinner was very nice too, esp seeing as DH cooked it! Makes it far tastier I find!

Seansgirlthesequel · 27/04/2008 19:06

No one else here so am off to make myself useful....

HellHathNoFury · 27/04/2008 19:22

I'm quite jealous of all the talkers too, DS only says 'dit. dit. dit. dit. dit.'

He says it at everything. In response to everything.
When he's happy/excited, it's 'dit! dit! dit!' instead.

but, he is now an accomplished walker, so can't win em all I guess!!

HellHathNoFury · 27/04/2008 19:24

oh and I have a hangover and ate too much then did 20 sit ups and 200 steps on the thigh trainer thinger. oops. Now I feel sick.
But gotta start somewhere!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/04/2008 19:38

And the jamlet just makes shrieking/gargling/singing type noises. She was particularly high pitched and shrieky this afternoon, did our heads in. So bedtime was brought forward by half an hour because we couldn't take any more. And she had calpol to help calm her down

She did look very smart in her new jim-jams They are proper grown up style ones with buttons down the front of the top instead of just a long sleeved tshirt. And they little skating mice all over them. Very cute.

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 27/04/2008 20:11

lol jammy, glad u like jamlets um.. jammys!!

thanks seansgirl, i know im not i just felt awful cos i had left the room.

MHC - I'm too lazy for buttons too if truth be told. DH was undoing the buttons ready to put the top on her and I said, good grief just undo the top one and pull it over her head. He laughs at me, I often don't undo buttons, zips etc unless I have to, will just pull things on if at all possible. And I'm a devil for not undoing shoelaces to take my shoes off!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/04/2008 21:01

And yes, babygrows do look so lovely too. She has a really cute one, pink with big coloured spots, made out of fleecy material. She had a leaky nappy once at playgroup so I put her in that babygrow and people called it her Mr Blobby outfit. I don't like it so much now

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 27/04/2008 21:07

aw dont u listen to silly people! people always ask me why i put ellen in dresses all the time. simply cos i want to! shes a girl and it wont be long b4 she will be telling ME what she will and wont wear so im going to enjoy it!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/04/2008 21:10

Thanks Natty. Are yes, I dread the day she starts getting an opinion about her clothes.

FrazzledFairyFay · 27/04/2008 21:17

Hello peeps, I am back from the hen weekend. I had a great time (and looked fab, of course - thanks for all the help) but am utterly exhausted - I definitely can't keep up these days. I will catch up tomorrow but just wanted to say helloooooooo.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/04/2008 21:25

Glad you had a good time Fairy.

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 27/04/2008 21:27

aw fairy glad u had a good weekend... very

Sputnik · 28/04/2008 09:58

Morning all, very jealous of all your fab nights out, although we did go to our friend's house for dinner and had about 1/2 an hour after everyone's DC's had crashed out to actually talk and drink a glass of wine like grown-ups .

Nat, scary about the shelves, luckily everyone was ok. Eggs are a good source of iron and cheap. I never used to eat them much but got into the habit of scrambled eggs for breakfast when I was pg. Never had any iron problems even though I don't eat meat.

Anyway I am on my porch with the laptop trying not to think about my house which is a scene of utter devastation. The ILs came over yesterday and DH and BIL did the last of the digging into the walls for rewiring while the rest of us went out. Just that they didn't seal everything up properly, opened all the doors I had carefully closed, etc, so now half the house is covered with a layer of fine dust, which I now have to clean. I was totally livid when I came back and kicked one of (DH's crappy homemade) kitchen cupboard doors and bent the hinges. Then I had a good shout at MIL who chose that moment to restart her usual litany about I need a cleaner (despite I can't actually find one to come up here, and can't really afford it either).

Anyway, now I'd better go and do some fecking cleaning. But afterwards I am going to buy some shoes.

LittleMissNorty · 28/04/2008 10:23

Oh sputnik how bloody annoying. My DH is a bit like that with DIY and it sends me MAD. I'd love a cleaner...

Daisy, glad DD is ok - sounds very scary....god I worry SO much when DD is ill, I would be absolutely beside myself. And I can sympathise with the DH situation. When I read that yesterday, I could have typed it myself. Did you bang the keyboard as you typed it? Hope you felt better after . Oh I DO like my Mondays and Thursdays (my days when its just me and DD) . I have Friday off this week as well as we're relative visiting over the weekend and have a long trip to Dorset Friday night.....

Right, I wonder if I should use my brand new fancy washing line for the first time this year....or should I bung it all in the dryer....

I'm busy planning a first birthday party and have bought all the pressies (a swing for the back garden and a few little toys)....where has the last year gone?

Hi everyone else

Oh and Trace....I work in that field....get yourself back to GP and say you should be up at a clinic at the hosp within 2 weeks....they can do a fax referral. Hope all is OK (its usually fine and nothing to worry about but you MUST be seen by specialists - not bloody GPs).

HellHathNoFury · 28/04/2008 10:34

natty if you are there - I am afraid I have to cancel london zoo on the 24th, I just got an email from DH, he has a work function that weekend and his attendance is compulsory and I have been invited too....argh! I had better go though, I managed to avoid the last one :-/

andiem · 28/04/2008 13:33

Izzybel · 28/04/2008 13:40

Hello all. Just thought I'd just pop on whilst DD is quiet. well she's not really quiet, but she is amusing herself by shouting at her toys.

I missed the talk about early talkers yesterday. DD says plenty, but not much of it makes sense! Just babble really. According to my mum, I was an early talker (the reason why she didn't believe that I was partially deaf) and I was a lovely, quiet child

DD is still in baby grows too. TBH it hadn't really occurred to me to put her in pyjamas .
Jammy, was the pink spotty babygrow from Next by any chance? DD used to have a pink fleecy babygrow, with coloured spots on, that my sister bought her when she was born. If it's the same one, then don't listen to those people, it's gorgeous! DD's was 0-3 months so she has out grown it now, but I really loved it. It looked so cozy aswell!

Natty, that sounds so scary about those shelves. I bet your heart stopped. No more talking about bad mother awards do you hear .

Norty, I need to start planning DD's party. Only bought her one pressie so far! I can't believe it's been a year already. This time last year I had 5 weeks to go (I remember coz it's my sister's birthday today and she was very kind telling me how HUGE I was on the day.) Our DD's have the same birthday, don't they? 2nd June.

Who is the oldest baby on the thread? Some have May birthdays don't they?

Izzybel · 28/04/2008 13:41

Hope you had a lovely christening Andiem

foxythesnowfox · 28/04/2008 13:47

foxythesnowfox · 28/04/2008 14:19

That LB character is exactly what sprung to my mind! Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes thanks, the outfit worked a treat - I felt very glam. And yes, I have vague recollections of talking to a man and dancing with someone - but I couldn't pick him (may not have been the same person )out of a line up!
