Anyone else's BF newborn like this...

I'm 3 weeks in and BF is established.

I'm told that newborns are suppose to sleep a lot but its not the case with my one.

Its a cycle of breastfeeding, pooing, breastfeeding off other breast, falls asleep then won't be put down. If I put her down she will wake and I will have to do the cycle again.

She doesn't get tired enough to go to sleep. She will go quiet in a bouncer being bounces continously but won't sleep.

Asking someone else to walk around with her or bounce her is the only way I can go to the toilet or eat.

In the evening she will eventually sleep around 10pm and then wake every 2-3hours feed and go back to sleep. I am grateful for this night time period of sleep. She does then get up fully at 7am and will sit for 5 min whilst I run to the toilet and make some cereal before the day cycle begins.

I was told newborns eat and sleep, well where the f is the sleep?!

Why isn't she collapsing from not sleeping, I don't understand.

I even read something about 3 week plus only being awake for 1.5 hours max before they need sleep.

This isn't even my 1st child but it feels a lot harder.

Try the wonderweeks app.

My little ones never needed much sleep, a sling helped me get a semblance of life back, also the car!

Agree a sling is helpful. She's probably sucking for comfort so have you tried a dummy? I was so against them with my first who sounds similar, with my second I didn't make that mistake again and my life was a million times easier and happier, and I gently removed it from her before she was 6 months so it didn't lead to prolonged use which had been my worry the first time.

Thirding the sling recommendation so that you have a chance to pee. Just don't wear it over the top of dungarees! A mistake you only make once.
