What are peoples opinions of Baby Sign Language?

I did the classes but didn't bother with the signing at home. DD loved the classes (they were her favourite because they were so simple I think, she found baby sensory a bit overwhelming at times) and I liked them well enough too.

A friend did use the signs at home and her DS got really good at them.

I'd say the same as any baby class - go if it's a positive in your day. The baby doesn't care and will be fine whether you go or not. Personally I liked getting out to classes and having a bit of adult conversation.

I teach a handful of useful signs at home. Never went to any classes. It’s incredibly useful to be able to understand what baby wants before they are verbal… I’m sure it avoids a lot of frustration. We do: milk, water, food, ‘all done’, and ‘more’. That’s been enough for us. My second baby is 13 months old and understands most of them but only signs milk (meaning he wants milk or water) himself at the moment. He’ll react yes or no if you sign the others at him.

I’m thinking of starting a class called Mini Signers in Raynes Park. If anyone else knows about it or lives in that area. It’s always good to get reviews or opinions 😁

I live quite near Raynes Park and went along to a Tinytalk signing lesson last year. It was a very friendly feel, half a signing/singing class for babies and half a cuppa and a chat for adults. But it was a termly signup and I didn’t really see the point in doing 50 signs in a lesson, most of which I wouldn’t remember let alone baby. 5 had serviced me perfectly well for my first child. However as a baby activity to fill the morning it was nice enough…
What in particular are you after feedback on?

My daughter done sign language with her baby and the reason being it’s easier for baby to communicate when they cannot talk for example the sign finished hungry and more came in very useful

This. Really useful. We did all those and 'help'. For when she wanted to open something or get us to do something.

And it's just a baby group really. If you want to meet people and do something vaguely baby-focused, it's not a bad class.

Interested if anyone knew anything about Mini Signers. They seem to be the only ones in Raynes Park doing baby sign now, the other one has stopped. Their website looks good. Think I’ll give it a go. They offer a good introductory trial so you don’t have to buy a whole term and then find you don’t like it. 😁
