What am I doing wrong?

I have an 8 week old and during the day we do pretty well. We are content most of the time and all seems Ok.

In the evenings though, always, from about 7pm/8pm they're inconsolable. They get fed, changed, burped and cuddled and still they don't seem happy.

Is this something I'm doing wrong? Should a two month old still be screaming crying no matter what I try?

Sounds like colic. My daughter had this and it was a hard time for us both. My daughter's a teenager now so I don't remember all the advice but have a look online. Xx

www.hey.nhs.uk/patient-leaflet/prolonged-purple-crying-in-babies-information-for-parents-and-carers/

We found this leaflet really helpful - it's really hard but it does get better

I think we can safely say it's not colic. That webpage is very helpful thank you!

Evenings can be hell with small babies. It's hard to tell what's wrong and often it seems there isn't anything specific. Could be wind, reflux, teeth, colic. Overtiredness. Or something they've just made up. Even more annoying when you can't figure it out. It will pass though! Things are always changing! Hold on until the next phase.

My daughter was the same from 2 to 4 months like clockwork from 6pm-10pm, It was hard! Doctors said colic and it would pass, it did. Dancing fruits helped 😂😘

They could be overtired. Try starting their going to bed routine a little earlier. They might be a bit confused by the clocks changing too.

Completely normal. Search newborn witching hours!

This is classic witching hour behaviour. You are doing nothing wrong. It is totally normal. There is no quick fix I’m afraid - but they will grow out of it. There might be things you can do that may make it feel slightly easier - such as a bath (if your baby enjoys a bath) to keep them calm, lots of cuddles, feeding, putting them in the sling? But mostly you just need to wait and it will stop.
