To wake or not to wake?

My baby is 7 weeks old and has started doing long stints of sleep at night, usually 4-5 hours. However, last night she went about 7. I usually wake her after about 5 hours to feed her as I was told early on not to let baby go longer than 6 hours.

My health visitor isn't due to visit for another week for me to ask the question, but should I still be waking her at this age or should I let her sleep through if she wants to? She eats regularly during the day, about every two hours and each time she's been weighed she's gained nicely. I'm just not sure if I should leave her sleep without the confirmation of the health professional?

Don’t wake. She will wake if she’s hungry. But I’m not a health professional so if you’re not sure ask your health visitor. We have a text service in our area.

from what I've been told its only advisable to wake early on when babies have to bulk up quickly but can lose weight very fast

at 7 weeks their stomach can hold more food so if your baby had a good feed before falling asleep then you can both enjoy it!
