I have a 12 week old son who I love he is the best thing that's ever happened to me but it's a lot
Day 3 he came home screamed for 8 hours straight they said it was wind but infacol done worked for a bit every night since between 7-9 he screams bloody murder like you are murdering him like he is severe pain i asked doctor last week and they said he might have silent reflux because of the symptoms not working apart from making his poos harder although he has stopped gagging. Like I say I love him but I've had to leave the house I'm sitting in my car crying but I honestly do not know what to do he is screaming. I've checked nappy he's not hungry he is breaking ALOT of wind. Im just at my wits end it's been like this every night since he was 3 days old and I need a break DH is amazing he doesn't get stressed but he works away so he only has to deal with this at the weekend. Any advice would be appreciated I've used infacol colif Dentoix I even bought a calpol plug in and humidifier cause he sometimes gets a stuffy nose. HELP ME PLEASE AS IM SITTING IN MY CAR CRYING. Only other thing I can think of is lip tie? He is 100% not tounge tied he sticks his tongue out so far he is also eating his hands and dribbling alot I thought teething? But surly not
I just don't know I'm fine all day but I dread the evenings so much and in laws and my parents are dying to watch him overnight but I can't bare to put they through that even tho I need the break. It seems tho about half 9 he goes to sleep and he's fine waking up at 4-5 for a bottle and that back to sleep till half 7 or half 8. Does anyone know what's going on or is this what you call colic? Sorry for the long
Post.

Hi. Sorry you are having such an awful time. In my experience there are probably a few things it could be. Reflux, colic, allergies (although less likely as only crying in the evenings), hungry (my first would cluster feed excessively every evening and wanted to feed constantly). For reflux I found gripe water helped, infracol made it worse. Also wearing the girls in a sling in the evenings and walking or rocking in a bouncy chair or rocking them in my arms (we couldn't really put them down at all). Also for reflux they were prescribed Gaviscon (which worked to start with) then omperzole and carobel. Even after all of this the girls were still crying excessively. So I got desperate at 5/6 months and my GP and health visitor didnt believe how bad my twins were so I started to record them. I WhatsApp the videos to my health visitor and booked a GP appointment and a showed him the videos. After doing that they seemed to appreciate how bad they were and the girls were refered to dietician (we got an appointment for the next day) and paedicitican. But just to let you know things are so much better now. I spoke to my health visitor the other week and she actually said "I've never known babies cry so much"

It sounds like colic or similar, it is SO hard, I'm sorry. Could you get someone to come over and just be with you or take over while you go out for a walk? They don't need to stay all night if you're not ready, but some company and a break will help. I used to stand outside the house while my partner dealt with the screaming baby, because I didn't want to be too far away but the noise was horrendous.

There are so many things it could be, it will take a while to figure it out, but you need support first. Xx

My eldest was like this but at around 12 weeks it started to get better so you might be getting to a stage where he will settle more. It is so hard to go through this but it will get better.

Have you tried moving from room to room? DS calmed a lot when I moved his environment.

Have you tried to use a suction bulb to clear out his nose regularly? That could help with the congestion.

Have you tried using a bottle of different milk (if using formula) or expressing and trying to feed that way instead of on the breast?

Keeping them in a cool room and not too warm?

I have a colic video that really worked for me. -

Doing a really good tummy massage paying attention to the hips if that makes sense? Constipation and gas will gather a lot in the sides. Like if you were to put your hand on your hips - that whole area needs a massage not just the tummy. I'll post a video that changed my life regarding wind - https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJuACEnb/

You're doing amazing. Stay strong

@yvonneb13

How're you feeling today? Hope you're okay x

My son was like this, turns out he is dairy intolerant. He only really couldn't cope with it in the evenings and overnight as I guess that is also when he cluster fed more.

Try cutting out dairy from your diet (if breastfeeding) or try a dairy free formula? It can take 7 days for it to be out of their system. Soya alternatives also may cause a reaction.

I breastfed and he was constantly windy, farting non stop after every feed but he struggled to pass it at that age which is why he got so upset. It wasn't until I combi fed onto a dairy formula that his poos got so vinegar smelling the intolerance became obvious.
