wow dylsmum that cake tin sounds amazing. Where did you get it? I might have to get one too.

I wouldn't worry about the speech thing either, I think the professionals don't really start to worry about it until they are 3 or 4. And some days we wish ds would talk less! We were in the car for 3 hours today driving back from a holiday in Devon and I don't think he stopped once!

And potty training is usually later in boys than girls too. Apparantly there is a hormone that needs to be released for the night time bit of staying dry and it's released later in boys than girls. DS isn't shwing any signs really of being ready and with this new baby coming along in Sept (and I've been told a new baby often distrupts potty training pregress) I can't see him being out of nappies before it's born.

Just had a really good week away although we are all exhausted now! The best thing about the holiday was that every time we told ds what we were doing that day he was excited. Even if it was something that didn't sound all that exciting to us, he still saw it allas a big, exciting adventure. It was fab.

Hello all - Happy Birthday to all the little ones. Caroline is 2 today - I can't beleive it, it's gone so much quicker than with DD1.

Caroline is showing definate potty interest too. I was planning to wait until summer (DD1 was out of nappies at 21/2 I figured C would be about the same), but a few times she has insisted on being taken to the loo (not even a potty, proper loo while we're out and about), and when I've taken her nappy off it's dry and she's done a huge wee on the loo! I was so suprised the first time and even more so when she repeated it!

But then she goes for days at a time with no interest. I think my plan is to not to not do anything hugely proactive myself right now, but whenever she shows interest just be very encouraging and go with it. Then when it becomes a fairly regular occurence, do more stuff then.

I feel like with DD1 I spent loads of time asking her if she wanted to sit on the potty, bought lots of pull-ups etc and it was all very hit and miss until one day she just woke up and said she didn't want to wear the pull-ups anymore and that was that. No accidents, no problems, when she was ready she was ready.

sorry didnt answer sooner, have been on hols.
i got the cake tin on ebay it was £15 brand new, its cooking in the oven as i speak. fingers crossed it will come out ok.
dd birthday tuesday, so ,y plan is to bake cake tonight and ice it tomorrow night when she is in bed.

have tonnes to do tomorrow, havent bought her presents yet (had to wait to get paid, which happened while we were away.) so need to do that tomorrow.

still not sure what to get her, i'm sure wandering around the shops will provide some ideas!

have a feeling of getting some Thomas trains and a carry case i have seen.
and a little shopping trolley, as she has one at her dads which she absolutely loves. so gonna get her one for here.

hope all the birthdays are going well

well it seems like weeks ago now (well I suppose it was 2) but I ended up making a train shaped cake with swiss rolls and a lot of blue butter icing! It went down really well. Ds's favourite present has to be the wooden train set which he plays with for hours.
The play food and tea set and things have to be a close second actually, he loves them too. On Sunday he woke me up with breakfast in bed which I thought was amazing until I realised it was plastic toast and imaginary tea and cereal in plastic bowl, plate and cup!

It's been so good this last week being able to get out in the garden, we've spent a lot of time in the sand pit today.

Although it is great that he is talking so much and has such a huge vocab some days he doesn't stop talking at all the whole time he is awake and it can be quite hard work. If I don't respond to everything he says he just repeats 5000 times until I do!

dylsmum1998 · 01/06/2008 22:35

hehe does he do what my dd does and keep on of you respond and its not the required answer? soooo frustrating.
your breakfast in bed sounds a lovely surprise bless him thats so sweet.
glad you had a good brithday. we did to we went out for the day and dd absolutely loved it have loads of pics/vids of our day. its was great.
dd fav toy is her shopping trolley, all day long she pushes it round the flat. telling me " i go shopping back soon. bye see you later" then 2 mins later back through the door "back now i got (and shows me what ever has been collected, usually something treasured from her brothes room )
