Tcmummy, glad you have had a good weekend. Hope you get some feet up time soon!

Eddas, hope that the lady does admit liability. Surely she will have to if the other guy is agreeing with you.

Wow, you can tell some of us are back to work. It has been really quiet here for a while now.
I am having one of those days today, just feeling miserable and teary. Time of the month (only the second since having F) so could be that I suppose. Am also really tired despite sleeping relatively well, if I was an animal I think I would have been put down by now with all my woes!

Welcome back twinkle and tcmummy.

mj, Perhaps it's not just being back at work. I got back from baby massage at about 12.30, longer than I expected to get home as a verrry long wait for a bus. D was asleep in the buggy and I thought I'd read my book, make coffee, and do lots of other things I wouldn't be able to do as soon as he woke up. He's still asleep - I'm beginning to get worried since that's coming up to 3 hours, he fell asleep at the bus stop. A few times I thought he'd wake up but he didn't.

Am playing a DVD of Kirsty MacColl videos while I wait for D to wake up and ponder whether I should try harder to wake him - have already done all the things I normally don't dare do if he's asleep.

HELP

I'll be able to get new car seats for the dc's because of the accident, but which ones? SO many to choose from.

Also, should be able to get a replacement pushchair. Want to get a buggy but again, there's so many.

My head's spinning with all the info floating round

Elkie - don't wake him - never wake a sleeping baby Well unless you've got children to get to school when it's fine

Baby group this morning and I walked all the way there and all the way back! Just over an hour's walk each way. Thank goodness I have some chocolate orange in the house to keep me going now Dh has taken B to get the big girls - i do hope dd1 has had a good day and I need to pop to the shop for sugar - I'm in a baking mood! The car is having it's MOT - only needs one new tyre - hurray!

And that's about it here

mammyjo - sorry you're feeling a bit down - I think we all have days like that - and hormones make it much much worse. I am still period free since having B - but it can't last and I just know I will have the worst pmt ever then Rarrrrrrrrrrr!

tcmummy - glad you had such a lovely time - now get some rest!

Pesha - owch with the underwire!

Eddas - how is the whiplash? As far as I'm aware as the other woman drove into you she really has to admit liability.

Leaky - shame about the sleeping - B didn't do too bad last night - but was in with me from 2am

Hello everybody else

Eddas - ooh shopping!

Right - do you want isofix or not - decide that first

Pushchair - the age-old question - what are you going to use it for most?

What is your insurers budget?

Report
RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 04/12/2007 15:32

An hour each way NL I need chocolate too NL, might have to bring out the roses for christmas since I can't get to anywhere to get any

Our current car doesn't have isofix so would be without. It's like a mindfield isn't it! Didn't specify a budget so assume I could buy anything All they said was if we had the reciept for the current seats then send them in. If not buy replacements and send those reciepts.

Pushchair/buggy would be pavement walking mainly, you know town, short walks ect. Would love one of those all-terain(sp) jobbys but then i'd have no excuse to sit on my arse

Right - carseats - I like Britax - you know where you are with them. I guess you want one that faces rearward and forward for ds? And do you need a five point harness for dd or had you moved on to a seatbelt?
How about this www.johnlewis.com/+Baby/Travelling/Travelling/Car+Seats/566/230409403/Product.aspx for ds (faces rearward) and this www.johnlewis.com/+Baby/Travelling/Travelling/Car+Seats/566/230409409/Product.aspx for dd (you can take the straps out and use a seatbelt when she is old enough) ?

Now pushcairs - I used to have an urban detour from mothercare - 3 wheeler - and it was very good.

Hey ladies.

Had a horrible day here... on Sunday I realsied I had a flat tyre... took it to the garage yesterday, they put a new one on - £70, went to local shopping centre this afternoon, came back to the car and the brand new tyre is flatter than a flat thing.. rang the tyre place "oh well we arent covered to come out of the garage - you'll have to put the spare on and bring it up - you probabaly have a nail in it" cue floods of tears from me. Luckily a jeep full of blokes pulled up next to me and saw that I was upset, and offered to change it for me - they were soooooo kind, fixed tyre, chatted to C. I was so grateful.... Didnt even have any cash to give them.

So once I have calmed myself down I will be going back to garage and launching aforementioned tyre through their window.

Thanks NL

DD currently has a highback booster seat thing that you use the adult belt with, so would probably just go for something in the stage 3 category for her. She's 3.6 and over 1m tall and is more the size of a 4 year old, bless her. And i'm sure she'd like something in a pink

That 2nd one might be ideal for ds actaully. Not sure on his weight but must be around 9kg and he can now sit unaided(has just started to sit from the crawling position) so that would last him right though wouldn't it?

Will take a look at the pushchair in a min as ds is requiring attention!

Thank you, I like to have someone else's opinion, dh won't be bothered as long as it's nice and safe

NL - that you lo is being bullied.

SOL - hope today went ok for you.

MJ - sorry you're feeling

ok, that is all I can remember

Erin woke at 2am this morning. Her teeth are bothering her. I feel pretty tired as I haven't caught up with sleep from the weekend and it was a lot of travelling too. Right I'd better get on with the laundry (done 3 loads already!)

He woke up around 2.50, around 3 hours sleep. I've given him various food before his dad got home from an 8 till 3 shift. He woke up in quite a good mood which was handy, hope it lasts.

Eddas, would you be wanting to carry things in the pushchair while walking around with it? How much would you be folding it up? It's so much about how you use it, as I use buses a lot, if I realised that the brakes on Maclarens are less than brilliant I would have got something else I think.

Pleasure Eddas - if dd wants pink (she's older than I thought - should have checked before looking ) How about this - www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000VDI9CW/sr=1-34/qid=1196787998/ref=sr_1_34?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ &n=44453031&mcb=core Out of stock at the moment though Mothercare do a pink booster with back - but it's nowhere near as substantial as this. Do you mind me doing your shopping for you?

Good nap Elkie! What if went for that every day? B is a highly variable napper - sometimes 20 mins, sometimes 2 hours. I prefer 2 hours!!

GMM - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrh at your garage people, useless bunch of jobsworth MEN! At least I'm assuming it's mostly men - please correct me as needed But bravo to your knights in shining armour anyway.

Elkie, brilliant sleep I don't do buses very often as they're, erm, infrequent shall we say, from my house! See I was thinking of a Maclaren think i'll have to go to the shops to test some. Trouble is they're so busy atm.

NL, don't mind you shopping for me in the slightest I've seen the Mothercare VIP pink one but it' not my taste. The one in the link would be ok but TBH i'm not quite sure what they were thinking with that orange tis a bit weird. Am thinking maybe a black base colour with pink bits so it's not too in ya face IYKWIM Will definately get ds one of those 9kg up ones, the ones that should do up til they're 11 or so. Then I won't have to buy him another.

sorry to keep banging on about my car but dh says he think they'll write it off. Just checked it's book price and I think he may be right so we'll have little £ to buy a new one and can't afford anymore. We were going to run it into the ground so to speak, hoping that when it died we could afford something else as dc's would be older and I could work more Trying so hard not to think too far ahead. We'll just have to deal with whatever gets thrown our way. Must keep repeating, at least no-one got hurt And people have been so kind, I have dd's preschool run sorted for the rest of the week so my sanity may remain in tact and also there's the same matter of TAKE THAT on thursday Good job I wasn't planning on driving there

Sorry, am very self absorbed atm.

Sorry to hear about your accident, Eddas, honey - like you said, sooooo glad everyone is ok Glad everyone is helping you with your car seat dilemma - I haven't a clue - for P when just have the rear-facing car seat that came with our travel system for DD1 four years ago and for the other two we have seats that turn into boosters (back detaches) once they are old / big enough. Not idea who they are made by or anything! As for the pushchair - I am guessing a double is no longer required so I'd definitely go for one of those Quinny ones - I think they are very cool! Alternatively, just a sturdy Maclaren that folds small / reclines ......

HTH

Hi tcmummy Mad as a Badger you are (join the club ) Glad you enjoyed a fab weekend for your Birthday / T's Thanksgiving - Sounds mad and completely fantastic

Yummy pics of George and of Eva, leaky

Brain has emptied ....

There is a thread in pregnancy where the poster is asking 'are hot water bottles safe in pregnancy' - for her back pain. There's something wrong with ante-natal education when we have so disempowered pregnant women that they don't even use a hot water bottle without checking!

Evening all.

Loads to catch up on you chatterboxes!

Oooggs, I am so sorry you had a bad night again. Let's hope tonight is better.

MJ, sorry you are feeling low again. Huge hugs to you my lovely Welsh flower. xx

Eddas, what a pita re the car. Hope you can get something sorted. How are you feeling now? Re buggies, I have to say I LOVE my Maclaren. It is a Techno XT, so lies totally flat.

Nutty, glad you are over your hangover!

Pehsa, what a fab weight gain for D. I am so pleased.

Brain now dead and cannot remember anything else!

Had a good day at work. It was K's first day at nursery and she seems to have survived. She has such a bad cough tho, and apparently she had a temperature on and off today. I have dosed her with medised, stuck the vaporiser on and rubbed some Vicks on her feet (apparently it works wonders). Poor little lamb. Is there anything else I can do, cos she is still coughing on and off and she has been in bed an hour.

Hope everyone else is ok. xx
