Bath products

Hi!
When did you start using baby products while bathing?
We were told to wait until 6 weeks to start using products but everyone I have spoken to (family) have all been really surprised by this.
DS is now 1 month old and debating whether to start using them (obviously will introduce one product at a time).
Does anyone know the actual benefit of waiting until 6 weeks? Will it do any harm if I use them before?

Thanks in advance

I had severe eczema as a child so we have never use bath products on any of our children. I just wash their hair with water too and it's so shiny!

At that age, water and cotton wool/soft flannel is all they need. Their skin is so delicate, bath products aren't really recommended. I think we started introducing baby wash at around 3 months and the tiniest amount of shampoo as she developed mild cradle cap. Our DD is 9 months now and we use child's farm, it's nice and gental, cleans well and leaves her skin nice and soft. We were warned against Johnsons products because of the harsh ingredients in their formula. Obviously, all babies are different so it can be a bit trial and error with frequency of baths and what products to use. A friend of mine only washed her baby in water for their first year as they suffered from eczema.

@Mimi91 thank you. We started using a tiny amount of Johnson's top to toe - specifically suitable for newborns. He too started getting mild cradle crap and it seems to be clearing up nicely. It was more because his bottom area was starting to smell from all the pee and poo and water just wasn't cutting it at all. All seems fine at the moment and been using it for around a week 🤞🏼
