Newborn sleeping

Hi, this is going to sound silly but can newborns sleep too much? My baby is only 3 days old but it's seems she is only waking to feed or if we are changing her nappy then she's fast asleep again.
I'm just worrying she's sleeping too much. She is feeding really well, loads through the night and every 3 hours ish during the day. We also have lots of wet and dirty nappies so I'm confident she is getting enough milk. Whilst she is feeding she tends to have her eyes closed like she's asleep so I'm not sure if this counts as awake or sleep time?
Just looking for some reassurance from other mums with newborns or if it's something I should be contacting my midwife about? Thanks in advance Smile

As long as she's awake enough to take her feeds, and the nappy count is good, then it's fine.

Newborns are often sleepy, I think they do it to lull you into a false sense of security before they start to wake up properly and demand more attention Smile

Congratulations on your new LO Thanks

Sounds perfect and wonderful. Enjoy it and congratulations.

Thank you both. I know it sounds ridiculous when I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be wishing she would sleep more. It's just everything worries you at this stage. Thanks again for your reassuring replies

How are you getting on?

Mine is the same, he's 13 days old now, DD slept a lot as well.

Sounds good to me
