Baby massage

Is it worth paying £10 per session to let someone show you how to massage your baby? To pay £50 for 5 sessions is a LOT of money, but I would love to hear your comments if you have done a similar course and paid that amount of money for it - was it worth it???

It would be worth asking your health visitor if there are any free classes in your area. I've just finished a five week course provided by the NHS and it was great! Not sure I'd like to pay £50 though - seems a bit pricey!

I really enjoyed Baby Massage. DD1 was less impressed though!
50 pounds is a lot of money. I didn't pay that much.

depends - i did a free course run by the midwives at the hospital where dd was born and it was great. But if it hadn't been offered, i may have looked for classes and paid to go. I think it wasn't just about the actual massage for me - it was about having something to do, being able to get out of the house, and something I was doing for and with my baby (as opposed to meeting friends in coffee shops, which i did lots of as well!). So ok it's a lot of money, but you would be getting more out of it than just learning to do massage iyswim?? You will meet new people as well. And the massage was really helpful for me with dd who was really colicky for the first 4 months - I was taught some anti-colicky moves that really helped to unblock her!

hi all - thanks for your feedback - and I must say it sounds like a good idea to try and find out about the NCT's free classes - will contact our health visitors on Monday to enquire about these.

Lillypie - thanks so much for the video clip - it is fantastic and I also shared it with the other ladies in my antenatal group (we still meet once a week for lunch and an afternoon together!)

Sar123 - we are very very fortunate that Katherine has never had colic - thank God!! But I am sure she will enjoy it a lot when I do it properly!!
