So we are a week into keeping a small human alive and so far our godsends have been:

  1. perfect prep machine (Unable to bf)
  2. amazon prime =epic
  3. a dummy (don’t come at me with judgy comments thanks, limited times only)

Any others that are game changers/will make our tired lives easier?
Any top tips for winning at parenting?

Cotton pads and water and bepanthen lots of the stuff. It's amazing. Also I buy puppy training pads for the shooting poops - I really like my carpet an was a bit naive about how far these poops can shoot. And dr beckman stain removal carpet cleaner for the rainbow poops. That's all I've got but she's 3 months so I'm still learning 🤣. My baby got a dummy she bloody loves it no judgement here.

More muslins than I ever thought possible.

Lanisoh- heaps of it

Lanisoh breast pads

@shittingmyselyes to the Dr Beckman!! That stuff is a godsend!!
@Ginfilledcats i discovered small muslim squares on amazon this week, also bit of a game changer for the spit ups! Save a big manky muslin!
Defo multi changing stations too!

@CountryGirl36
I feel like I could have written this post, I am 8 days now into motherhood and absolutely agree with the perfect prep, Amazon, dummy and and he small muslin cloths...
Self sterilising MAM bottles have also been great, and I just ordered a sling carrier that I hope my baby will love... we’ll see!

Hope I'm OK to post, my boy is almost 9 months and here are things which helped in the early days and stuff we discovered as he got bigger...

Changing station upstairs and downstairs. Also, keep the change bag packed and Do Not dip into it when at home!

If baby screams getting out the bath, something at helped as ours got a bit older/more aware was to put our stereo on and let him look at the lights; this is something that has always helped to calm him?!

Online food shopping!!

Hey Duggie 😂

Pull up nappies! I thought they were only for older babies/toddlers, but ours has been in them since 5 months and they do small sizes too. They're great if your little one is a proper wriggler and for poops, you can rip the sides off so you're not pulling them off and making a mess. Game changer for us!

Definitely amazon prime, but be careful with those 2am impulse purchases when you're night feeding /rocking and thinking 'this will solve all the problems' 😂

Lots of easy to eat snacks for Mum ESP when breastfeeding eg cereal bars, bananas, crackers etc.

A water bottle with a straw, not having to too the bottle up is so much easier.

Baby is 5 weeks old today! Getting breast pads was my game-changer. I have quite a lot of milk leakage, and I was really struggling with the lack of control I felt through the first couple of weeks of ending up with big damp patches on my shirts at random times; I hated that my body was doing something I couldnt influence/control. It's really changed my mental state to be able to pop a pad into my bra & then forget about it!

CountryGirl36 · 07/09/2020 06:05

@Bubblesbebe yes to the mam bottles!

Big pants, all the pads you can find (every kind), and moisturising hand soap. Trust me.

RainbowFlowers · 11/09/2020 13:56

For the night feeds when using the prep machine, putting the powdered milk in those little tubs before I go to bed, so I don't have to do the scooping at night.
