How do I feed formula on the go??

I feel stupid asking this, but I've Googled it and can't seem to find a universal answer.

I formula feed my 6 week old and due to lockdown/shielding, we haven't been out for more than an hour at a time really. Wherever we go we make sure we are home in time for next feed.

We would like to attempt a country park in the next week, possibly out for 3-4 hours. My baby is on SMA Comfort so don't really want to buy ready made. Would prefer to keep him on his powder.

From what I've read, I can take with me a sterilised bottle, formula pot and a flask of hot water? But how do I know what flask to buy and how do I know water will be over 70 degrees after say, 3 hours of being in flask? I'm worried I'll mess something up and make him poorly Sad

If somebody could tell me exactly what to do, that would be fantastic! And any recommendations for a flask? Or will any do?
I use a Perfect Prep at home so never had to contend with bottle making from scratch. And I can't take my Prep machine out unfortunately Grin

Hiya.

When I take baby out I usually fill up the bottles I need with boiling hot water and let that cool to room temp. I put boiling hot from the kettle into a flask for the shot of boiling hot. When I go to make them i bring an empty bottle with me so I can tip the cooler water from one bottle into another so I don't have to bring yet another flask but whatever works for you. I use the boiling hot, just in a normal coffee flask, then I put formula in. Then I tip the cooled water into the bottle and shake. I also can't have ready made as my daughter is on prescription milk.

In reality a few bottles shouldn't make your baby poorly. The alternative for you is to premake them at home and then keep them in an icebox, that lasts for four hours. Xx

You can get premade instant sealed bottles of formula that you can open and pour in a bottle when your babys feed is due. So you could take acouple of those and acouple of those and acouple of sterilised bottles.
It saved hassle faffing with different containers and flasks of hot water around a baby out and about.
We used those. Or if you know your baby's feed is due within 2 hours you could male a fresh bottle right before you leave home and place on insulate bag (good for 2 hours). Sometime I did both if I was going to be out awhile.
