Ok so buckle up for this as it’s quite a long one!

My LO is bottle fed and has been from since he was born.
I was in hospital with him for 5 days after the birth and when we were in hospital he was on Cow & Gate ready made and also I did express for him whilst I was in there and he had some breast milk.
I had no problems with him being on the ready made whilst in hospital.
We came home and my partner and I were giving him the Cow & Gate powder and initially was fine.
After a couple of days though he kept throwing up after a feed. We started used infacol as advised which didn’t ease the vomiting, so on advise of the Health Visitor we started using anti reflux which helped wonders - but we replaced the vomiting with straining and struggling to burp him. He then started developing a rash on his tummy with a little bit on arms and started getting spots and a rash on his face, which we got told was milk spots and on his tummy was heat rash. He would go for a couple of days without a poo but when he did poo, he would poo 2/3 times a day and they would be big ones!
We tried bicycle legs, tummy massages and baths and nothing would get him going.
We then spoke to the docs who suggested going back to the ready made for him, as they say sometimes making the formulas are a little harsh on their tummies. We did this and he started vomiting again after each feed.
After speaking to a few people, they suggested he may have cows milk allergy and that’s what could be causing the rash etc. We spoke to docs again and they have given us a trial of Aptamil Lactose Free Formula for him. Since then, his wind has been bad and it absolutely stinks 😂 we have gone back to the straining and rash isn’t really easing.
I’m just wondering if anyone experience anything similar and if so, what did you manage to do?
It’s just horrible seeing him in clear discomfort and not being able to remedy it for him.
Any advise would be so helpful ☺️

Cows milk allergy isn't the same as lactose intolerance so its the wring type of milk you are using. Lactose is the sugar in milk whereas if there is a cows milk allergy that is involving the protein on the milk. Ask for a different milk to try with the proteins broken down

Thank you, that’s what they prescribed us after saying we think it is cows milk allergy, so unsure why they have prescribed us that instead.

Avoid soya based alternatives as the protein is similar to that in cows milk.

From memory, there is a rice based milk that babies can have?

No, rice milks aren't suitable under age 5 due to arsenic levels. It would be a prescribed milk you'd need with milk protein broken down
