Trapped wind - Infacol

LusciousV · 01/07/2020 16:21

DS will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and for the last week he has been suffering with trapped wind which is clearly making him really uncomfortable 🥺 we burp him regularly but he still seems to be suffering as we can hear his stomach going for ages afterwards and he's constantly bringing his knees up to his chest and spitting up milk.

Has anyone tried Infacol and did it work? I know every baby is different but I just wanted to hear how others got on before trying him with it.

TIA x

It does help a bit if it's wind. My dd had silent reflux too so ended up on ranitidine

We have used infacol for about a month & wouldn't say it's fully cured the trapped wind fully as we still have the red face & stiff legs.

We carry on using it though just incase it is helping & we don't realise. Would hate to stop & it gets worse.

I do sometimes get some trumps out by doing the bicycle legs but that's not exactly a miracle cure either.

Sometimes putting DS in his bed on his back with a dummy in helps him work has loose.

Hi,
My dd is just over 4 weeks old and we have been using infacol since she was 2 and a half weeks as she suffers with the same problem! It has definitely helped but not completely got rid of the gripping pains all of the time. Night times are a lot easier with the infacol, last night she slept in her crib for a full 4 hours before waking for a feed 😊 it's also orange flavoured and our dd seems to quite like the taste of it 😂

I didn't notice much difference with Infacol but gripe water helped a lot, it was like a little miracle. Not sure if you can give it at 3 weeks though my windy baby is 19yo now

Thanks all!

We've been using Infacol for 3 days now and, like you all say, helps a bit but not a cure by any means. We've also being doing gentle exercise with him (cycle legs, rubbing his belly, etc.) and that seems to be helping a bit too 👍🏼

@UltimateWednesday my mum suggested gripe water and I looked it up but says not to give to babies until they over 1 month old. He'll be 4 weeks on Thursday so might give it to next weekend if it's still bothering him.

@Megzmoo the first time we gave him Infacol his face was a picture! First time he'd tasted anything other than milk and he looked less than impressed 😂 he's getting used to it now though.

We used a combination of Infacol, colief, gripe water (later on) and Dr Brown's bottles.

SuperSange · 05/07/2020 18:23

Are they breastfed or bottle? I had a miraculous success with my boy, but it'd only work if you bf.

tractorvancar · 05/07/2020 18:26

Colief really helped us, it brought wind up really easily
