Hello everyone, my friend is due a baby next week, she's had a bit of a rough time tbh and I would like to buy her something really lovely for her recovery afterwards.

What is the very best present that you've been given? I would like it to be for her, not so much for the baby.

TIA! xx

The best thing ever is help. Either someone popping over to do some housework while the baby and her sleep, or take round some food which is ready to go.
Sounds silly, but out of everything those would be my faves.
What I wouldn't give for someone to do my chores so I could sleep instead of doing them myself.

A voucher for a spa/ beauty treatment and offer to babysit whilst she goes there.

I would have loved such gift after DS was born!

After DD was born I had a lunch with lots of things that are banned in pregnancy (liked cured meats, pate, unpasteurised cheese) etc. You could put together a nice hamper of those sorts of things.

I have to say though that the best thing my friends gave me after DD was born was their time and company! Friends encouraging me to get out and about and keep doing the things I enjoyed (and being there to help with the baby if needed) set me on a positive path and gave me the confidence that some bits of life can go on just as before even if you've got a newborn with you!

Be careful with a spa voucher...I was given one with a 6 month expiry, which I probably won't use as I hope still to be BF at that point.

My best post birth present was my DSis turning up with lots of cat food which we were running out of. Saving us a trip to Tesco was far better than another bloody scented candle.
