Hey OP. I was like you six weeks ago. In my experience if does pass but it's a terrifying time. I think I cracked in week three and sobbed to my husband and then the health visitor. I was exhausted and the tiredness shines a light on your fears - I was terrified of everything. I found once I spoke about it to the people around me and they could talk it through with me I started to improve and sleep a little and with sleep cane more confidence.
It was such a hard time but the only reason I'm awake now is DD had her eight week jabs today and she needs calpol every four hours - and she woke me up with a massive midnight poo earlier so there's no point going back to sleep when I'm going to need to wake up in an hour to do the Calpol.
Just know you're not alone and congrats - and take care of yourself. You've done an amazing thing bringing your baby into the world and you're allowed to be anxious or worried if anything else you feel XX

I felt like this (baby actually didn't breathe when born so stemmed from this)vbut speaking to others I think it's also quite a natural stage to go through. I admit I kept the breathing monitor on for ALOT longer than friends did but it gave me piece of mind and allowed me to sleep. He's nearly three and I still sometimes go and double check and always go and watch him sleep before I go to bed but now that's more to watch his lovely sleepy face so relaxed than to check he's still breathing. Speak to your health visitor though as pp has said, it did reassure me too. It will pass at some point xx
