Right
Hello everyone
I was feeling down hence haven't replied

I have just settled and feel I can talking though I'd update you all
On day 5 baby was weighed and dropped 20 percent of birth weight
They said baby looks well but still needs to go hospital for a check up
By the time I went hospital 2 hrs late it went to 24 percent
We were admitted for 5 days
Baby did a course of antibiotics and was on formula straight away. I wasn't able to breastfeed as my milk didn't come in and when I had wasn't enough for my baby. Baby has now passed his birth weight and is 3 weeks old. Thanks you
For your replied to my thread.
It's a shame I couldn't breast feed as I was so passionate about it.

So glad he's now gaining! That's the important thing x

@saltandvinegar1 glad you're doing OK. I had a very very similar experience to you although we were not discharged and brought back. Your baby got the colostrum and will thrive on formula milk. It sounds like you could have been better supported, it is so hard with a section and no one seems to have any advice when milk doesn't appear plentifully on day 3 or 4. It's very frustrating.xx

@witching and for anyone reading in the future, it isn't true that formula top ups ruin breastfeeding in the first days. In fact, more women successfully breastfeed if they top up when they need to. Avoiding it at any cost is dangerous for babies.
