if they didn't work the peace of mind is worth it

It's a lot of money to waste on something that doesn't work. Hmm

None of you know who has/hasn't been affected by SIDS. I have family history, I still wouldn't use one of these. They feed anxiety and don't guarantee your baby will be ok.

I used one with my first because it was way easier to look for little flashing light than filter out my and DH's breathing in the middle of the night when I woke up.

Didn't with DC2 because he wouldn't sleep in the cot...

We had the angel care mat - the ticking was so soothing and didn't have any issues with a false alarm going off. PPs are absolutely correct - they do not prevent SIDS, however, if your baby stopped breathing through the night, the alarm would go off to alert you.

Ive had my baby she is 8wks old also this is my 6th baby ,just some scary stories out there of babies dying of sids.
There is one u clip to their nappy just wasnt sure if id want that if it had a battery in it on my baby.
My baby is in a cot next to my bed im also breast feeding and i give a dummy they are both ment to help prevent sidsmy baby is with me where ever i go due to having cats but its when im asleep i worry about.
I dont know anyone thats used one and ive never used with my other ones and they have been fine ,just was thinking of getting one to stop me worrying.

We have one. It a called the Nanny monitor. It's excellent. We used it until he was around 1, when he started wandering round his cot and it went off and scared the living daylights out of us. No false alarms until then, apart from when I took him out the cot before turning it off!
The only issue I can see with them is that they could lead to complacency. They should never be a substitute for anything. But as long as people don't do anything else differently, I can't see why anyone wouldn't get one. They are an extra piece of safety equipment and surely can't do any harm. For me it was peace of mind. The Nanny monitor was expensive but so worth it. We also got a video and audio monitor. We will be using it from day 1 with our second child (due in the summer).
