How do I rebuild my milk supply?

Okay so I'm prepared for a lambasting for being a lazy so and so.

We've been combination feeding my 8 week old and the last two weeks I've been so busy I've got really lazy with the breastfeeding and pretty much just formula feeding.

I'm starting to really regret it and feel like my milk supply has almost gone.

Has anyone successfully relactated? Any top tips on how to build my supply back up?

I saw a lactation consultant for the same reason - she advised to pump regularly and take fenugreek supplement.
And Also to practice lots of skin on skin and if possible have a day in bed just skin on skin with the baby and breastfeeding on demand.
Good luck, don’t feel lazy - breastfeeding is tough for some people, I found it really emotionally draining and stressful!

I did this, I was hospitalised for a week when my son was 8 weeks. I was seriously unwell and made the decision to stop bf and move to formula. After 2 weeks I changed my mind and started bf again.

I started by just bf in the afternoons so after I ate lunch I would cuddle with him on the sofa and encourage him to try and feed, as a pp poster said skin to skin time and letting him feed as he wanted. This suited me as I was still recovering and was happy to spend my afternoons just relaxing on the sofa etc..

I wasn't sure it would work and tbh I was happy if he just got a few drops every day but about a week after I started I was eating lunch and my dh (unknown to me) prepared a bottle and tried to feed ds. Ds wouldn't take it, it was like he knew it was bf time. That was really all the incentive I needed and from that point on I knew we could do it.

My milk supply increased really quickly and within a couple of weeks I was just giving a bottle of formula in the morning and the early evening and bf the rest.

Good luck op, it was quite a commitment (to lying on the sofa every afternoon Grin) but I am so happy we did it. I went on to feed him until he was 2 and am so glad I tried.
When I started to wean I cut out formula completely.

Lots of skin on skin time, offer the boob lots. Make sure you're hydrated and eating enough.
No need for any supplements etc (they have an adverse effect on some women's supply)
Also pumping will encourage your supply of baby doesn't want milk.

LOADS of water/liquid really helps. 3L a day massively boosted mine when I was struggling a bit after a break. And putting your baby to the breast every hour or so for a couple of days, don't worry about a routine.
