Ptosis?

Hi there

I've noticed my poor little one has had a slightly different shaped eye from birth- but unfortunately although I've seen my GP about it, they can't seem to see what I see. Other people have commented on it so I know I'm not going mad! Your thoughts and advice is greatly appreciated xx

That's not a ptosis at all. Google some images as to what a ptosis is. No one is totally symmetrical and that includes your lo.

Sorry that was a bit blunt, but really he doesn't have a ptosis! Cute though!

My 3yo DD has had ptosis since birth. I agree I can't see ptosis in that picture, do you have another picture? We've seen a paediatrician twice , once at 8 weeks once about a year ago. Both times we were told there would be nothing to do unless the lid dropped enough to obscure the iris. It doesn't in DD but it is obvious when she's tired and it is always obvious in photos. I think it's because when she blinks the ptosis eye opens more slowly so it's often caught half shut in pictures. Because of this we are considering paying for her to have it corrected privately as we are concerned she may be self conscious of it as a teenager/ adult.

upthewolves - our dc had it done on the NHS! Can you ask to be referred elsewhere, I can't belive they won't fund it Shock

If you do get it fixed can I recommend being a few years older - their faces grow and it might need doing twice if too early.

Thank you both so much for commenting. I do hope both your little ones are ok x

@titchy Interesting! My DC were actually born in Australia, we just moved here a few months ago. So I haven't spoken to anyone about funding it on NHS I just assumed we would get same response as we did in Aus, which was that it would be privately funded as cosmetic. I will look into it thanks!
