My daughter is 6 weeks old and has been only waking up for one feed around 5am or 7am since 3 weeks.

No set routine for us really, I do ensure that during the day we make as much noise as needed and at around 8:30 she goes up to bed in our room, it's dark and quiet so she tends to fall straight to sleep most nights.

Our 3.5 week old has no routine at all! I sort of think that's fine though - everything I've read says they can't internalise a bedtime routine until later. And since he can't sleep in a room away from us, surely putting him to bed would also mean putting us to bed?

Im aware NBs cant tell the difference between night and day never mind a routine i just thought it would be good to start early on for myself as well as baby (the things you will do for a bit of normality eh?!) lol @dannuh im the same i carry on as normal during the day and dont worry about noise then quieter at bedtime
@LisaSimpsonsbff yes i agree 8.30 is too early for bedtime for us although some nights im sure we would all be temped!!

@LisaSimpsonsbff @lmx0 I have a chair in the corner of the room where I can sit and watch a film on my iPad until she wants a feed around 10pm then I go to bed.

If I stay downstairs with all the noise she doesn't nap and then bedtime becomes a nightmare as she screams due to being over tired!

All babies are different though so what works for me might not work for others :)

@dannuh ohhh nice but of me time for you too!!! Its a case of trial and error isnt it you spend most of pregnancy reading about pregnancy and birth but next to nothing about what to do once they are here!! And no amount of experience preps us!!

@lmx0 It is, I quiet enjoy some quiet time in the evening.

Ha! I was saying that to my midwife, they need to come with a manual 😂

Definitely trail and error though, find what works for you and your baby Smile
