Dieting while breastfeeding

Hi, Happy New Year Everyone!
I'm still up with baby so thought I'd get into New Years resolution mode🙀

I've put on 5kg since DS was born 6 months ago, so now have a total of 10kg to lose.

I've tried to eat less during the day, but my milk production drops dramatically.

Any advice? I lost weight steadily after DD1 and DD2, so this is new territory for me.

I thought about doing a low sugar diet (as biscuits and chocolate are my downfall) but I feel I need them to get through the day!!

I know people say eat healthy nuts and sunflower seeds etc, but I really don't like them!

I know my diet needs an overhaul, but I'm not sure how to tackle it without affecting my milk supply!

Any advice gratefully received!

Umm, def no expert here but could you just cut down a bit on the sugar until baby stops breastfeeding? Allow yourself three squares of chocolate a day or something? A wise (and skinny) friend said of baby weight 'nine months on, nine months off' and you are not there yet and it might get a bit easier when baby is weened and you are breastfeeding less. Sorry, guess main message is be kind to yourself, you are doing v well breastfeeding plus having two older children so maybe weight loss is just something that can wait a month or two.

I'm doing Slimming World, they adapt their diet for breast feeding mums. It's essentially lots more fruit and veg and dairy, and a lot less sugar, but I find it really easy to follow without counting calories. I have lost almost a stone in three months, and I find myself eating much more than I was pre pregnancy, it's just all much healthier.

Oats are great for milk production. Flapjacks, porridge, granola in the morning.

You can bake nuts and seeds into flapjacks and sprinkle on cereal.

I'm sort of amazed you think 10kg is worth trying to lose at this point in time though, in the grand scheme of things you won't be bf forever and it's not a lot of weight. I found as my DC demanded less milk I actually lost weight naturally. Something about bf made my body hang on to every ounce of baby weight.
