Hey all I had my little girl on Sunday and was just wondering about her feeds. SHe feeds every three to four hours and is on formula. She was unsettled most of the evening last night and had last feed at 12.30 and has slept through... I woke her at 6.15 and just waiting for her bottle. Is this okay? I'm seeing midwife later but I'm a first time mum and overly paranoid!!!

Thank you xx

Probably a little long to leave her between feeds in one so small, I'd wake her around the four hour mark. Especially because she is likely to have the usual post birth weight drop and will need to put back on satisfactorily and avoid jaundice. Nice long sleep for you though so well done on that it's rare !! And congratulations Smile

Hi P,congratulations on your baby. Its been a while since I had a newborn, but think that was a bit too long for her to sleep.I thought when they were that little a max 4 hours between feeds should be as long as you go.Ask the midwife but I think you should feed her regularly this morning to keep her going.I don't think it's anything to overly worry about though.

That happened to me. My LO slept through first day home after being in hospital a couple of days and I hadn't set an alarm. The midwife told me not to leave it more than 4 hours, strip her down to a nappy if need be.

I wouldn't wake mine - it's only 6 hours and she would have woken if she's hungry. Just keep an eye on how much she's drinking in a 24hr period (hard if bf) and you might find she just catches up throughout the day. I've never woken any of mine at night, just enjoy it! Obviously if you find she's constantly sleeping though feeds and you don't think she's getting enough across the day then you might want to start waking but if she just fills her boots in the morning than enjoy!
I sure as she's still so young it won't happen every night anyway.
