Good luck to all those with jabs. We had third set 2 weeks ago, and was less traumatic than the second in terms of yelling...and no reaction at all afterwards of any sort. HOpe same for you all

babypowder · 03/04/2007 14:20

What a weekend - I'll bring you all up to date when I get a minute!

DD2 woke up with conjunctivitis. I can't be a*d to take her to the docs, so am trying the cool boiled water and EBM thing. It's so funny when I try to get the EBM in her eye - she seems to see it as a waste and keeps trying to get her mouth in the stream! Hilarious.

Don't worry, if its not any better tomorrow I'll go the docs Just from past experience with DD1 it's almost impossible to get drops in, and it clears up pretty quickly on its own.

castlesintheair · 03/04/2007 14:56

Eli, which website do you use for upping dosage? DD2 on ranitadine & gaviscon.

OP posts:
Elibean · 03/04/2007 15:35

Um....will Google and see if I can find it. Should have bookmarked it

BP, good luck - thought I was going to have to do same with dd's eye the other day, but thankfully it cleared up on its own!

Elibean · 03/04/2007 15:44

I think we originally used this one www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz/MedicalTreatment/MedicationwithDosages.htm

though I did find a different one to check it against, and can't remember which.

There are lots, they all say about the same thing...and when I saw the GP, so did he.

I also checked it out against what other babies were taking, just to be sure - but basically, dd was on 1ml 3xday when she hit 6kg. No idea what she weighs now, but my back says she's put on quite a bit

castlesintheair · 03/04/2007 16:29

Thanks. Interesting website. According to it DD2 should be on 2 x sachets of gaviscon with every feed (she's on one) as that is what causes the spewing, not Ranitadine. Is your DD2 on 2x sachets per feed, Eli?
Also my GP only prescribes one box every time I go. And she point blank refuses to give me more. And, everytime I go to GP, I have to get her weighed elsewhere first. I end up buying it over the counter most of the time. Grrr. Why do they make it so hard?!

BP, Urm, i put the milk onto a cotton wool wipe and wiped his eye rather than trying to aim!!! you need to do it for about 7 days even if it lears up after 3-4 according to my MW - she was right as I was lazy and it came right back!
All these people going on hols, enjoy, dh has to work 3 days out of the 4 - but then we went away 2 weeks ago instead - lucky i don't have school age kids or he would have to change jobs so we could have family hols ;)

SachaF · 03/04/2007 17:27

clears up not lears up

margo1974 · 03/04/2007 21:06

my dd still has her blocked tear duct and I do wipe it and massage it. DH said to me the other day "If it was me, I would be squirting breast milk in her eye at every opportunity to try to make her eye better"

I think it would still be crusty - he's so bossy when it's not his boobs we're talking about! not that DH has boobs... you know what I mean!

Elibean · 03/04/2007 21:40

Castles, dd isn't on Gaviscon at all anymore - she was initially (gp wouldn't prescribe anything else ) but the ENT doctor she saw said just Ranitidine and Domperidone: she has silent reflux, never been very sicky, mostly pain.

Though drowning in mucous appears to change all that

I think we might have some left over sachets of Gaviscon, which we don't use - if so, do you want them? Happy to post them to you!

babypowder · 03/04/2007 22:13

Sacha, I just catch DD2 as she finishes a feed. I don't squirt, just gently drip. It never ceases to amaze me how inhibited I must have been before I had kids. Now its boobs out at every opportunity!

babypowder · 04/04/2007 09:15

DD2 is quite the most splendid child. She now regularly sleeps from 10ish until 5ish every night, in her cot.

And her eye seems to be getting much better, thanks to mummy's magic juice.

Did anyone else see the birth of that baby orangutan last night? I thought it was incredibly moving.

glassslipper · 04/04/2007 13:40

guys, i'm around but the last few days have been a bit pants. see here

will catch up soon.

margo1974 · 04/04/2007 13:42

I saw that Glassslipper. It must be knackering for you. I can't think of anything to stretch out the non feeding times

Gloria42 · 04/04/2007 16:03

GS, weird, apart from the fact that my DS has a formula bottle before bed, your thread is exactly what I'm experiencing at the moment! Until Sunday night DS (13 weeks) was sleeping from 9 until 7-8am. Now it's up twice in the night, no naps during the day and feeding every 2hours (sometimes every 1.5!) Must be a stage they go through...(hard to type with fingers crossed !)

magnolia1 · 04/04/2007 16:57

Have posted on your thread GS just to say I had exactly the same with ds1 at 16 weeks but all night too

Well ds1 had 2nd jabs yesterday (very late!) and all went smoothly my big brave boy I wasn't so brave and made dh take him

glassslipper · 04/04/2007 18:53

lets hope it's short-lived. starting to wear me down to be honest and making me tearful. i've felt so much more positive than with dd1 but this is truly testing me

accessorizewithbabysick · 04/04/2007 20:30

gs, posted on your thread, hope it gets better soon!

LowFatMilkshake · 04/04/2007 20:33

Aww GS - things will get better - you're doing so well. Keeping going - it wont be like this forever - take one day at a time. And get help with all none-bf stuff so you dont sit there worrying about it. No other advice I'm afraid as my boobs are ornamental - although they are the originals.

DS has been really odd since 2nd jabs yesterday. He cries all the time unless he has his comfort blanket over his face. And earlier it seemed to be directed at me, smiles for DD screaming at me - I think he blames me for geting jabbed . Magnolia - smart move getting daddy to take your DS.

Also IL's are coming for Sunday, but all seem to be having a mini feud - this weekend is supposed to be restful!

Olihan · 04/04/2007 21:44

Aw GS, it's really tough, this bf business, isn't it. If ds2 has a really hungry day I tend to start feeling a bit resentful and wanting a bit of space to myself so I'm not surprised it's getting you down.

Eli, hope dd2 picks up again. Roll on the nice weather to kill off all these horrible bugs!

Castles, if you're about tonight, can you check your email? Ta!

glassslipper · 04/04/2007 22:21

thanks guys. she has just fed from 8.30-10pm so we'll see if that helps her sleep....

Elibean · 04/04/2007 22:48

Glassy, that sounds totally exhausting...I've had several bouts of 3-4 days/nights like that in a row, and its a wipe-out. Hang in xxx

Just a quick 'night from me, off (hope, hope) to Devon tomorrow till middle of next week. dd is still very snotty, but seems less so than yesterday - that, or she and we are better at coping with it and less anxious?!

Anyway...packing is hell, and dreading the journey (traffic looms) but the prospect of seeing the sea and leaving London behind for a few days is worth it...dd1 will love it, too...

Have a great Easter, hope all of you and LOs stay well and have some reasonable nights and get to stuff yourselves (you, not the LOs) with chocolate or other good things

jabberwocky · 05/04/2007 01:05

Have a good trip eli

GS, ds2 is currently doing the same thing. At night I put him in his own bed (co-sleeper) but after he wakes the first time he stays in the bed with us and I throw a breast at him when he gets fussy. Not the best of times but I am more rested this way than getting all the way up at least.

Took ds1 and 2 in today for ds2's first real photos. He did so good. Never got fussy at all and ds1 was a little angel. I am so proud - and immensely relieved

babypowder · 05/04/2007 09:42

Glassy, hope you had a better night last night. It is so exhausting when they just want to feed, feed, feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

I'm dreading the next growth spurt, having just got used to having some of the bed to myself without my breast on permanent call!

castlesintheair · 05/04/2007 10:47

Eli, missed you, hope you have good holiday and thanks for the offer of gaviscon sachets. Keep hold of them in case you have another ...

GS, hope you are ok? How is the feeding going today?

BP, how are the neighbours?
