To double buggy or not with 2nd baby

Hiya, wanted to pick a few brains. We're expecting our 2nd baby & there will be a 2 year 2 month age gap between baby & our little girl. I'm trying to work out whether it's worth it getting a double buggy or whether to sling it & get a buggy board for toddler. She's pretty good at walking. Any advice gratefully received!!!

Same here, down to the age gap.

We're going to do sling and buggy, although DS is pretty good at walking. Sling and carry on with DS's usual routine seems easier somehow!

I'm in a similiar position, except I'll have 22 months difference and DD can't walk yet, and I'm planning on slinging it. Would be interesting to hear from other sling users who have done it. I've looked up a few of these threads and the replies seem to be mostly from non sling users saying they couldn't live without their double. Well, obviously...

I'm expecting dc5 in August when dc4 will be 2 years, 2 months- ish. I'm not having a double buggy this time, I hated it with dc1-2 & 2-3, while practical on the one hand they were heavy to push & always seemed to have punctures. I've got an ergo for baby this time & we'll get a buggy board too.

Dc3 was was 2 years 4 months when dc4 was born & adapted really well to using a buggy board (at about 2y 7m due to Summer hols).

It depends how much you walk, I had a similar age gap and do use the sling a lot but needed a double as I don't drive and often Walt 3+ hours a day which was too much for big one to be on a balance board or walk. I did get a double buggy that could easily be a single too so I had both options depending on what I was doing.

*walked not Walt

I see this threads often and think it depends on whether you have a car - so whether you'll walk lots/walking is main form of transport.

And, importantly, whether the older child still naps. You may find after while you prefer not to have one in a sling and you'll both may nap at same time.

DD napped until age 3.5 so buggy (no car) was needed for her until then.

I went for double buggy with this age gap. The right choice for me, because back/shoulder problems meant sling time was always going to be limited. I hate not being able to be mobile, and wanted to know I could still do country walks with older DC , even if younger two were getting tired. Buggy boards are only for pavements ime.

SIL who lived in a city was able to tell me I was wrong. Truth is, different people, difficult needs.

Thanks for all the replies. I was originally thinking sling & buggy board but then got to thinking what if I need both contained. Why do you say it depends on naps? My little girl does have an afternoon nap but not in buggy.

I'm in a similar situation - new baby expected and will have 20 month old. I also have a 4 yr old starting school but I figure I only walk short distances most of the time. If we go out as a family I have a spare buggy so can use that. Doubles just seem too much of a faff. Really depends how far you are walking everyday.

110% double buggy - get the 360 out n about nipper it saved my life

I’ve 22 months between mine

Tried sling and buggy first then tried standing buggy board - ha u try keeping a 2 year old on one of them when they don’t want to

Then tried a seat buggy board - ha a tantruming or tired 2 year old on one of them also a bad idea

At 11 weeks we gave in and bought the 360 nipper and OH MY GOD life suddenly became easier

We are now 1 year later and still need to use it a lot especially when out on my own , I need a safe place to strap my 3 year old into at times .

So I would say yes yes yes to double buggy
