Here's hoping, anyway...

dp always said if we were to have a 2nd we should do it straight away, having an emcs has saved me from that fate! I want to wait until dd is in nursery really putting me at 38 so hopefully it'll still be aa easy to conceive!

thisis I'm nearly 9 weeks postnatal and still bleeding. Nurse thought it was af but that was 2 weeks ago so must be lochia coming on and off. Annoying though as I'm also ebf.

Arkkorox · 21/01/2015 09:43

We're doing ok thisis I had to put my foot down last night cause although yes his mum needs him we also need him too and I'm struggling being on my own all day as he's still not fixed my car ( not his fault at all) but I am stuck and bored to be honest. I think I got through to him cause he's spending all day with us today and coming home tonight so I'm feeling less like I'm climbing the walls.

DD slept from midnight to 9!!! However I didn't get to bed till two cause DP chose that moment to have a big heart to heart about everything and I didn't have the heart to cut him off so I could sleep! But not feeling too bad today at all.

I've got my 6 week check on Friday, I'm going to ask for some help in terms of councilling. There's a few issues from a past abusive relationship I'm having trouble shaking and I've had enough now really. I've cut all the people out that have anything to do with the poor excuse for a human bloke and now I just need to fix the last bits.

Thisisimpossible · 21/01/2015 10:07

Wow Ark, tough times. But it sounds like you're being a great support to him and balancing your and DDs needs too. You're doing an amazing job given everything you've had thrown in your direction the last few months. I don't mean this to sound patronising, I am in awe of you!

Arkkorox · 21/01/2015 10:59

It's certainly been eventful thisis but it's been made a huge amount easier being able to come on here and speak to you guys about it.

Oh I found out why DPs sister flipped out at Christmas, they've been trying to get pregnant for a year with no success ( apparently she has PCOS but they won't go to the doctors about it?!) so I do get why she reacted how she did but it wasn't the right way to go about it at all. shes not helping to build bridges with DP as she's already causing fights over their dads stuff!!!!! Brat is the word that springs to mind. It's all a big awkward mess tbh!

However I'm off to sainsburys with my friend to look at baby clothes and eat cake today. Might see if I can persuade DP to take us to Wisley to see the butterfly house next week as I've just seen its open again!

amy83firsttimer · 21/01/2015 11:22

Eek - exciting day today - DTD this morning Blush and booked DS's baptism just now. Moving forward - also fitted into an old pair of my fat jeans. Wahoo!!!

Annarose2014 · 21/01/2015 12:20

You DTD?! How the hell did you manage it? I can't figure out what to do with the baby whilst we're at it! I had the excuse of my scar tissue till now but really have to get back on the horse (so to speak)! I just know DH will be horrified by the thought of doing it next to the baby in the bedroom. Actually, I don't fancy that much either! Do we go into the spare room? Oh but that bed is freezing! Confused

Baby has been playing happily on gym mat for 15 minutes and counting, batting at dangly things. This is unprecedented. Its fantastic.

I just bought a Motorola MBP36S video monitor on Amazon. This week its become apparent that DS wants to sleep all evening but we weren't ready for it at all! And we have a rambling house so the bedroom is miles away, far out of earshot. He could scream his head off and we wouldn't hear. So I've been reading in bed since 8pm this week. Not ideal - tonight I want to sit downstairs and drink wine! But it may have to wait a few days.

He slept from 8pm till 1am which is wonderful, but then awoke every hour with the thrashing, squirming, pulling up the legs with the usual terrible straining noises. I'd manage to rock him back to sleep but then an hour later it'd start up again. Hope the Neocate works soon. It was my first night on formula and its a pain! My arms were killing me holding him and the bottle! Its way easier on the boob!

amy83firsttimer · 21/01/2015 12:29

DS went back to sleep in the moses basket and we grabbed the opportunity! We'd been trying to find the right moment since last Thursday when I'd had 6 week check so I can't see it being too frequent an occurrence tbh.
When did you have last bit of scar tissue sorted Annarose2014?

moggle · 21/01/2015 12:40

ark we are near Wisley too and want to take DD to see the butterflies :-) I have a great picture of me there when I was little with a massive one on my head :-)

Amazingly DD has slept through the night 5 out of the last 7 nights. I feed her at 11 and then she sleeps until about 6.30, Then I bung the dummy in a few times until DH gets up at about 7.30 when I wake up properly and feed her. I wish I could say something useful about how I got her to sleep through the night but she seems to have just done it herself. It did coincide with us putting her upstairs to sleep in the evenings at about 7-8 ish. It takes her until 9 or 10 to actually fall properly asleep but then the last feed is almost a dream feed as she barely wakes.

She seems to have recovered from the conjuctivitis without needing the antibiotics, phew. Was not enjoying washing her eyes all the time so glad I can stop!

A question probably for those with older DC - if you took them to a Rhymetime type thing at the library, what age were they? DD is 10 wks and much more aware of her surroundings so I was wondering if she might get something out of it even now?

WorkFreeWannabe · 21/01/2015 13:42

Ark, I'm a couple of junctions away from Wisley and have sadly never been. I might make a day of it with DH, although he's petrified of anything that flies. Smile

Sorry about your SIL, but it it isn't right for her to take it out on you. You're doing brilliantly considering everything that's happened in the past few weeks/months. I don't think I would have managed at all. Remember to look at far you've come and keep it up.

Go Amy! I'm nowhere near ready for that yet. Poor Mr WorkFree has a long wait ahead of him.

I'm currently in my way to Covent Garden on my own eeek to meet a friend for lunch. So far the journey has been okay but twice as long so I can take the routes with no stairs. Although Londoners keep giving my dirty looks as my pram is disrupting their daily life.

Annarose2014 · 21/01/2015 14:00

amy it was last week and wasn't fun. There was a big bit of granulated scar tissue the size of a pea about an inch up inside. I could actually feel it sitting down. The Princess and The Pea, har har!

It had to be burnt off with Silver Nitrate. It felt like acid. Then she had to get a forceps out to pick out the last bit. And after all that another bit of Silver Nitrate to smooth out the lining of my fanjo. And I had the baby in the room the whole time! And then had to push pram home with a fiery fanny!

Its fine now though. Seems to have worked. We'll soon find out! Blush

ladydolly · 21/01/2015 15:23

Smooth fanjos, morning delight and butterfly trips - look how far we've all come!! Grin

Me and babydolly both have a cold. Shes snuffling and coughing away bless her. I tried the nasal sucky thing and saline spray but she's still pretty bunged up. Where do we stand on vicks at this age? Surely too young?

Thisisimpossible · 21/01/2015 16:53

Lol Ladydolly!

Amy I am also just about back in my fat jeans, although despite being pretty much back to the weight I was when I got pregnant I seem to have changed shape completely around my bum and hips; my bum has completely flattened and they are tight around the top...although I suppose that could be my stretched tummy skin thinking about it. Not happy about the rear end bottom drop.

We have managed to DTD twice in the last 3 weeks but only grabbing rare moments whilst DS is asleep, DP is home and we're both in the mood... My, how times change. Shock

amy83firsttimer · 21/01/2015 17:10

It's hard to find time to do it isn't it? Especially when there's always chores to be done etc.
My issue with my weight is that my pre-pregnancy weight is my wedding weight so not as easy to get back down to, although I do intend to.
Reeeeally need DS to happily go in the sling as I've promised parents a walk in the very muddy park tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

ladydolly · 21/01/2015 18:10

I'm back in fat jeans, 10lbs to go but my belly is still enormous. I think I must have lost weight elsewhere cos I'm sure there's more than 10lbs there!!

Strawberryfield12 · 21/01/2015 18:50

I am back to previous weight and the previous size below the belt, but a size bigger above the waste due to boobs and floppy tummy skin. Cannot wait to get abdominal muscles back in shape. And even more cannot wait to swap BF bras to the nice ones. My heart is bleeding when underwear retailer sends emails about the new stuff and offers.

ToniWol · 21/01/2015 22:02

Lady dolly - Vicks not allowed until 3 months, however there's a company called Snuffle Babe that does a vapour oil that can be used from birth. MiniWol has had a cold so we've had some of the oil on a damp muslin on the radiator through the night.

weeonion · 21/01/2015 22:46

evening lovlies!!

ladydoll - vicks arent allowed until about 3. mini-onion has had a cold for about 3 weeks - always worse at night. i am using a eculyptus oil in a burner. not sure how helpful it is but will try anything as she is so snuffly and upset trying to feed.

we have been going to a bounce rhyme thing at local library since she was 6 weeks. she loves it - plenty of whirling arms and smiles and she sleeps for an age afterwards. we are doing baby massage as well which is alot more chilled ad again she is knackered afterwards. we are starting swimming on saturday. dd1 is v excited at that prosect as we go swimming alot as a family.

some classes are so expensive - there is no way i can afford to do as many as i'd like. with dd1 - i was out every day at one or two. poor dd2 will have to make do with more of the free stuff.

dd2 is ow refusing a bottle of expressed milk. arghhhh. it is a struggle and poor dp is feeling v discouraged by it. As am i - feeling a bit trapped especially as there is a gig i want to go in 3 weeks and our babysitter is booked. any advice???

ladydolly · 22/01/2015 06:59

I put some olbas oil on my pillows in the hope she was close enough. I couldn't lay her down though, she kept choking on the snot or being sick and choking on that. I had to prop her up on a pillow, although I sleep well I wake whenever she needs a feed even before she wakes and same for if she is struggling. If ever there was an arguement for cosleeping this is it! (although I was so worried about the propping up I lay with my face right next to her).

Of course her first cold has coincided with her dad having to get up for work at 4am this week and a trip up north to meet the older generation of the family for the first time. Not sure we can risk her passing it to her 97 year old great nan.

Now, dp suggested taking her out for fresh air later but I'm inclined to keep her in the warm - thoughts?

Greenstone · 22/01/2015 08:50

Cold here too, dd has snot /mucus coming out her eyes! Gross. Bowls of water under the radiator ( if they're on) to make air more humid. I think your DP is right about fresh air so long as they're all wrapped up.

happypotamus · 22/01/2015 09:44

My DD also has a cold today. Coughing and snuffling added to the usual moaning and groaning in re sleep from 4am. DH is due to have surgery next week, so, helpfully, all he had to say was "well, I don't want a cold at the moment."
arrk that is a lovely picture of your DD.
My baby has really come on in the past few days with playing. She suddenly hates her bouncy chair and screams as soon as I put her in it, but will lie on her mat for a while and reach out to touch the toys.her favourite thing is when DH sings to her and she squawks and chatters along with him. It's very cute.

Annarose2014 · 22/01/2015 10:28

Oh you poor things with all these colds! We haven't encountered that yet thank goodness.

The Neocate has destroyed our little boy. Since about 4pm yesterday he was in bits, thrashing and stiffening and flailing and crying. And awake with it every 45 mins overnight. DH is absolutely appalled. He wants to throw it in the bin. But it said on the Neocate website it may get worse before it gets better as the system gets used to it, so thats what I kept saying. But we were both pretty upset, tbh. This morning he did a poo that I can only describe as being similar to a meconium poo, all black and disgusting. This is normal on Neocate apparently - yuck. Afterwards DS fell fast asleep, exhausted. Poor little thing.

So we'll see how he is today. Praying he's more settled after that poo. DH has basically said that if we've another 24 hours like the last, its going in the bin.

Thisisimpossible · 22/01/2015 11:06

Oh Anna poor you, DH and DS Sad That must be excruciatingly difficult to deal with emotionally. My heart goes out to you all. I do hope things improve soon. Huge hugs to you all xx

ladydolly · 22/01/2015 11:07

Tough times all round :(

dd is dealing with the cold better than me! She's normal in spirits, just sounds awful! I however am in pieces just looking at her poor red eyes. Dp had to tell me to pull myself together last night.

Strawberryfield12 · 22/01/2015 13:56

Yup, not the best times... DD has been very cranky all morning. Catnapping, crying and now has spitted up quite a lot of what she ate. Finally rocked her to sleep on me. My back is killing me but I don't dare to move. Fingers crossed she has a bit of sleep and we can have a fresh start here.
Sorry to hear about the colds, have lots of herbal tea, hot water with honey and lemon and anything you can think of could make it better. Hugs

WorkFreeWannabe · 22/01/2015 15:56

Virtual hugs for everyone today!

So I survived London and the restaurant was very accommodating and gave us loads of space for two prams although DS exercised incredible timing and became a Velcro baby just as my food arrived. He's still ratty from his jabs and wanted to be cuddled the whole time or walked around otherwise he'd scream the place down. He continued this on the train home earning me looks of disgust from the businessmen and looks of pity from women. Lovely to see my friends LO who's 3 months older and the looks both babies gave each other when held by the other ones mum Grin
