My little man is so lush but I'm really struggling :( I need to be able to put him down for my own sanity but he's not having any of it - screams like it's the end of the world honestly yet other times he's the most adorable funny affectionate little boy.

snow I've given up on the Christmas stuff.

I can see a tooth just visible now maybe two so I think they'll be through any day now. And he has a new habit while he's going to sleep which is to shove his fingers in my mouth and play with my teeth and scratch my gums Hmm it used to be grabbing my face

GrouchyKiwi · 19/12/2014 23:40

Sounds exhausting, auntie. Do you have a high chair? If so, does he cry when you put him in it? Sometimes being closer to our eyelevel can help.

Anyone else who is exclusively breastfeeding have their period return already? I might just be spotting but it feels like the full thing (nausea, etc). I'm really upset and might have cried. Thought I'd get longer than 4 months. She's still feeding every two hours. DH and I often say that my body hates me. Just feeling very sorry for myself at the idea of having my period with a toddler and a baby who still wakes several times a night.

Fox28 · 20/12/2014 04:36

kiwi I've had one proper period, but its been trying to come back since dd was 6 weeks old Shock I exclusively breastfeed too, and thought this was highly unfair and unlucky! But talking to 2 of my NCT friends this week, who exclusively breastfeed too, 1 has had 1 period so far, and the other has had 2. So sounds like it's not that uncommon after all.

NancyinCali · 20/12/2014 04:43

I keep feeling like mine's going to start kiwi. Started at 5mo with DD1 and I was EBF all through the night too!

Shock Fox That is unfair!

Nancy Mine came back at 3 months with DD1 but we combination fed. 5 months seems mean too.

It's definitely back. Had my tantrum about it last night so I guess I just have to deal. Wink And not talk to my sister, who gets a year before hers come back.

Can you take ibuprofen while breastfeeding?

Hope everyone's not too busy with Christmas prep. We're getting our flat ready for 5 extras. So looking forward to having my family here!

NancyinCali · 20/12/2014 16:00

Yes you can take ibuprofen kiwi

Thanks Nancy.

AuntieMaggie · 20/12/2014 21:30

I very had 3 periods so far - first at about 12 weeks before I introduced the night bottle. DS acts very 'off' around me and fussy with feeding at that time. I can't take ibuprofen because of the beta blockers I'm on for high bp and my period and suspected ovulation hurts like feck as my pcos has kicked back in :(

I think my supply has dipped a bit so need to try and get ds to feed more to try to build it back up but his teething means he's not keen :(

VIPmarya212 · 22/12/2014 07:42

I combination feed but had my period only once and DS is 5 months now. Even took a pregnancy test coz I wasn't sure what's going on with my system lol. But test negative (thank God!!) lol. I'm a bit worried now actually, might go see the GP, is this normal?

AuntieMaggie · 22/12/2014 09:02

mary yes I think it's normal while you're BF - if my joints are still playing up because of the hormones still in my system then periods are bound to.

As ds is having more formula how do I stop my milk supply dropping as I still want to BF?

VIPmarya212 · 22/12/2014 15:19

I mix feed Auntie that's why I'm worried. Not completely breast-feeding.

Your supply adjusts to how much you breastfeed so don't worry about that. I mix feed and I haven't had any low supply issues. Although sometimes I do get superstitious and worry too about my supply going low but i guess the key is to keep eating nutritious food to keep up a good supply.

You could also try expressing to keep up a big supply

AuntieMaggie · 22/12/2014 16:05

It's just that sometimes ds seems to get a bit fussy when BF and I wonder if he's not getting enough from me even though if I squeeze milk comes out so I end up giving him a bottle

Tbh I've never felt my letdown. He's not fussy all the time just sometimes other times he's quite happy to suck away for ages.

for a bit but he swallow quietly so it's hard to tell - I sometimes struggle to tell even with a bottle

Thank you - i'll keep trying. He's been fine this morning and is always ok during the night and early morning. interestingly I'm still using the first size teat on his bottles and he doesn't seem to mind so I haven't bothered changing.
