Better stormy? Ready to try again tomorrow? Wink

Betty it sucks that you're poorly right now.....and you too Wotta. Hot toddy?

Yummy you're done with work now! woo! Let that party start :-) Do Turkish celebrations involve anything different to the UK norm?

Worse the bath only room would be heaven to me and hell to dh. We always seek accommodation with both preferably in separate rooms so I don't have to share in his ablutions What about a ceiling suspended circle for a curtain for occasional use? They can look pretty.

Plonkdiddly happy housewarming! Have you christened it yet with a bottle of something nice and snog on the sofa?

We are now on an epic journey down to south coast (will wave from a21 worse and gerry) having done a pre Christmas with my family. Ecotod got better from the bum, leg and face spots quite quickly but the hand ones lingered until today/last night really. Strange. And she was only really ill ill for three days ish. We have missed toddle company though as we've been keeping out of people's way on the whole. We've been on lovely walks around my childhood stomping grounds, eaten lovely food, been down to mum daily, popped to neighbours and done some crafty bits. It's been busy but pleasant. I'm just dreading the m25. Anyhow, my sister gave me some heavy duty craft gifts.....I need to get making a special card to test it all out....anyone round here having a baby???

God no, eco - planning a totally sober Christmas!

We have arrived in the Land of SomePlonk. It's a bit wet. And a bit vertical. There was talk of going for a walk at some point. How?! I can't walk up walls!

yummychocolate · 24/12/2014 18:08

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

eco apart from no pork the celebrations are just the same. I have prepared games too for tomorrow as if I don't have anything better to do. Hope the traffic is not too bad.

stormy enjoy your trip.

wotta get well soon to you all. Enjoy your well deserved break.

worse I have a thing about being in other peoples baths so I prefer a shower.

betty ahhh don't worry everything will come together at the end. Don't stress.

I am waiting for ds to finish watching bedtime hour on cbeebies so I can take over the Tv.

worserevived · 24/12/2014 20:49

The presents are wrapped, the fridge is stuffed, the toddle is in bed (guess who wasn't on bed time duty tonight Grin), and DH has cracked open the beers, which just leaves me to wish each and everyone of you fine and festive seasons greetings, merry xmas and Happy Holidays!!!! So WineBrewCakeFlowers to the lovely lot of you Xmas Grin xxx

Speaking of holidays, I'm with you on the showers, and DH is coming round to the idea. It would just be so easy spatially if we didn't need them...

Eco anyone having a baby you say? Well.... I might know someone Grin. Possible even someone who just loves anything crafty....

Night all. Sweet dreams, and may Santa bring you everything you have ever wished for, plus a few nice surprises.

littledonkeysaurus · 24/12/2014 21:17

Stormy I thought you were awash with them there hills in that Yorkshire? Oh are you in the stupendously flat flood plain bit? It is a bit vertical here. Bit of a shock after 5 years in Birmingham. Pleased to report that the new house is in a land of gentle slopes rather than sheer cliff faces, but we can see the Pennines in the distance. Love this landscape, as long as I'm not bound by a buggy.

Worse hurrah for sleeping toddles!

And hurrah for everyone now on their Christmas holidays. Dh and I are also treating this as a Christmas break. Technically I'm not really on a break, as my working hours are flexi anyway, and I've really taken advantage of that with the move. The new year beckons with a call to arms, workwise, for both of us. As soon as we have a proper Internet connection I am dedicating two days a week to photography, and dropping my reliable income by a third to accommodate this. Exciting! For now though were looking forward to tomorrow, to introducing ds to Christmas, our first one in our own home, before journeying to Wales on Boxing Day for PILs-based festivities.

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Smile x

SomethingBeginningWith · 24/12/2014 21:29

Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!

It wasn't that long ago that I remember being the one with a gazillion presents under the tree, and my family watching on for hours as I unwrapped them. I now look over to see my pile of 5ish presents next to DS's 5000 and I cannot wait to watch him open them all Grin

I hope you all have a wonderful few days, you wonderful people! xx

Anypants · 24/12/2014 23:41

Happy Christmas all - up to my eyeballs in turkey and all the trimmings so just a brief one....

Merry everything and happy Festive Fursday xxx Wine Wine Wine

WottaMess · 24/12/2014 23:41

Shhhh, don't wake the toddles! Presents snuck into room. Check. So excited for first proper Christmas even though I expect he'll get bored after the first present and end up properly fractious by the end of the day... We survived the carol service by the skin of our teeth - stairs mummy hello stairs... Try to climb into pulpit! Blush Grin

Timeline for tomorrow prepared. Fx I hasn't had too much baileys when I worked it out. Shock

Merry Christmas one and all. Enjoy it in old homes but especially new ones Wine!

yummychocolate · 25/12/2014 08:00

Merry Christmas everyone!

Can you believe of all the mornings ds is stilllll sleeping. Come on ds we have presents to open!

StormyBrid · 25/12/2014 08:07

Merry Christmas, ladies! yummy, Fartypants is still asleep too. MIL just came downstairs (having heard me put the kettle on) and pointed out that this is the last Christmas with anything remotely resembling a lie in for years. Enjoy it!

littledonkeysaurus · 25/12/2014 12:58

Ahhhh. I'm loving this Christmas being just the three of us. We got up early and did coffee, cock bitches and presents. My haul was small but perfect - I hate being given something for the sake of it, especially when it's tat, so my posh body butter, PJs and new radio have been graciously received. DS is a bit terrified of his HappyLand train set but loves the dinosaurs and duplo, and the Olaf toy from the Somethings. We've been for a walk and the lambs been slow roasting for a few hours, ds is napping in his pushchair so I'm about to do the rest. We've decided to go against tradition and have (posh) ice cream for afters instead of pudding as we all hate it. This is the first Christmas dinner I've ever cooked and so far it seems to be going well. But I've not had a drink yet...

Eco you are such a busy lady! Glad dd is feeling better. I shan't answer your question about christening the sofa...
Stormy I meant to say, ds has been given a Peruvian bobble hat by DSIL from her recent travels. It's so cute, I want a grown up version.

everyone else I hope your Christmas days are perfick. yummy did ds eventually wake to open his presents?

BettysFestiveFrolics · 25/12/2014 13:55

Merry Christmas all of you and thank you so much. You've all been a wonderful constant source of cheer, humour, support and all other things wonderful for the last couple of years! I hope you're all enjoying the festivities! Xmas Grin

Shatteredmamma1 · 25/12/2014 20:13

Happy Christmas ladies Xmas Grin Xmas Grin
Sorry not caught up properly (!) but hope everyone well, poorly toddles all better, new babies growing well, house moves going smoothly...what else have I missed?!!! Happy Christmas again!! Grin

WottaMess · 25/12/2014 21:37

Happy merries everyone (and especially shattered! Good to hear from you Grin).

ecofreckle · 25/12/2014 23:41

Shattered! Come back! Talk to us Smile How are you? What's going on down your way?

Happy Christmas everyone! Am just in time.

We spent some quality time by the sea watching a brass band play in the sunshine and having a little dance. Ecotod loved her Christmas dinner demanding more and more 'potatoes' and tantrumming when we gave those to her because she actually meant parsnips Smile

The favourite present has been one from mil: the happy land cherry something cottage which is very pink indeed Angry The more gender neutral playmobil zoo is also getting the thumbs up, as is the shopping basket of play fruit. She's been too excited to like new books today and we still have a pile of presents she's not yet opened.

Am in bed with a new book chosen by dh and my hot water bottle. Happy days. In similar vein (vain?) to Plonky those three new books and some postcards of puffin covers have made me very happy. Maybe it's the promise they hold of quiet time at some future point.

Anyhow, festive love out to you all. Sweet dreams.

Plonky I hope you've been to the in laws before and have no need to christen their sofa Shock

StormyBrid · 26/12/2014 10:02

The man wanted to christen the outhouse last night. Confused Far too cold!

So, did we all survive the festivities? No tantrums, no vomits, no disasters? Fartypants excelled herself. Behaved beautifully, napped without complaint, tried and loved prawn cocktail. Hard to say what her favourite present was though. Probably a toss up between the wooden train and the chocolate mice.

SomethingBeginningWith · 26/12/2014 10:19

We survived. But it wasn't a fun one. My mum had it on her all day and directed it only at me, which I didn't need because the dog had to be taken to the emergency vets because of an infected wound so I was already upset about that, and she made it worse. Ended up leaving there earlier than planned and had a lovely evening at home. Might take a leaf of the plonkster's book and have it by ourselves next year. DS, on the other hand, had a fabulous day, which is all that was important anyway. He napped for 2 hours before my nephew and I went to wake him up, and he ate all his veggies Grin I favourite e present of his is definitely the Ninky Nonk musical activity train. That, or the torch.

Now, DS is napping so DP and I are going to watch the Lego Movie before we get ready for his family to descend. Only about 10 this year, as opposed to the usual 15. At least they're bringing their own food!

Happy Boxing Day, all you beautiful ladies (and happy over familiar Friday)

yummychocolate · 26/12/2014 11:27

We had a good one. Mum and dad bickered but that's normal. Grin

Ds had a nap before the family arrived but was a bit moody because santa gave him a cold on xmas morning. I ended up opening some of his presents as he was a bit overwhelmed by it all. He has yet open some of the boxes but currently the tea set is a big hit. My baby boy pretends he is making a cup of tea which is sweet to watch. We have left over dinner for today so no cooking.

I have just cleaned the place from yesterday and so I can properly relax today.

StormyBrid · 26/12/2014 18:13

It's SNOWING in the Land of SomePlonk! Grin Grin Grin

worserevived · 26/12/2014 23:25

Snowing you say.... brrrrr. Enjoy!!!

Xmas here has been surprisingly pleasant given the god awful start. When I posted on xmas eve to say the toddle was asleep, little did I know that was the only bit of sleep I would be seeing. I was awake for literally the whole night, as after the toddle had fallen out of bed once (onto a mattress I hasten to add) she was not in the mood to get back into it. At one point DH got up to help, only his help involved co-sleeping with her beside him, with the duvet over her legs, which would be bad enough at the best of times, but given he had been drinking had me pretty mad. So I hauled her out, he got stroppy, and we ended up having the mother of all rows about it. Cue a very miserable night, me sitting up with a restless unhappy toddle on my shoulder until morning, and him snoring away in another room completely oblivious.

Xmas morning as you can imagine was pretty frosty, but somehow or other we managed to thaw out and have a lovely day. I even cooked a passably edible dinner, which the toddle actually deigned to eat. Well she ate the turkey, sausages and roast potatoes. The sprouts she handed back to me, and the carrots went on the floor. Which was kind of funny. Oh, and I discovered she is ok with nuts. Not through careful monitored exposure, but because she grabbed a slice of bakewell tart off DH's plate and shoved the entire thing in her mouth. Almonds obviously have the thumbs up, as I have never seen her eat any form of cake before.

Favourite present - a plastic tea set with plates and cutlery Confused. Really????!!! She has spent hours sitting on the sofa with DH feeding him air from a mini teaspoon, and making him drink out of an empty cup. I guess I should be grateful really, as every hour she spends doing that is one she isn't scaling the furniture and throwing herself off.

Today we braved the sales, to buy...... you guessed it, some cot bed rails! For those yet to transition from a cot to a bed, buy these first. You will need them. Small people roll about in their sleep... a lot. They fall out. A lot. When they do they will first cry, and second come and find you. Sleep will become something you dream about but never actually attain. I would really really like some tonight, which is why I probably ought to go to bed now.

littledonkeysaurus · 27/12/2014 07:39

Worse we actually put the side back on ds' cot for now. He got wise to being able to get out on his own, and we currently have no stair gates whatsoever. Not a good combo. Hope the cotbed situation improves. I'd be furious with dh too if he did that!
Apparently it's snowed here. I've yet to peek out the window, as I was helping MIL cook when it started. DBIL showed up at 10 covered in snow, and considering it's snowing at home too we might have an interesting trip home tomorrow night!

It's actually nice to see the in laws this time. I feel massively sorry for MIL. I think she wants to leave FIL, but is kind of stuck. They always bicker but usually in a way that most couples do. But SIL is saying it was the worst Xmas day ever, he nearly chucked wine over her and called her a stupid ugly bastard (because that's mature). So you can imagine the atmosphere here.

As for their sofa, it will remain thoroughly unchristened this time! It's actually a different one anyway Grin and I'm currently sat on it with ds watching Cbeebies godawful panto.

Oh had a nice moment with mil and SIL, watching videos of ds from our stay here when he was 2 weeks old. Seriously broody making!

Albadross · 27/12/2014 11:56

Hello you lot! Merry Xmas!

We had a very quiet one just the 3 of us at home which was lovely. DS is being ultra fussy about food at home (how do they make him eat so much at nursery?!) so no pheasant for him. He had fish dippers instead.

It's just me and the boy home alone for the weekend - I'm already struggling to entertain small :/

Others seem to buy too much, but seriously, looking around the front room, we've not bought enough... we've done cooking wooden sausage and egg on the new wooden stove top, and the wooden ark/animals were abandoned yesterday after minimal play. And to think I was so pleased with that purchase Hmm

I've seen cot rails mentioned - we need a toddler bed, but both of us are too scared of what will happen once ds is allowed to roam free. Can someone please explain how one prevents middle-of-the-night chaos??
