Oh lies Something your ds knows exactly what cock is! I've seen him munching away.

I'm giggling far too much now. Damn you. And your cock.

worserevived · 17/12/2014 14:01

This is making me feel like a bad parent. DD has no idea what cock cock is, as I have never given her any it's mine, all mine. I have based this decision on the fact that when given cock cock cake she spits it out and hands me the resultant mess to deal with. I have trained her well Grin

Eco how's ecotod doing today? Did DH get home in time to offer any moral support?

Here the toddle is almost back to her old self, in that she woke up early, ate a massive breakfast, then consistent to form turned her nose up at lunch. I on the other hand had an awful night. Ear ache FFS. I thought only dcs got ear ache. I thought wrong. I now understand why the toddle screams so loudly and for so long when she has it. There is no pain like it. I speak as someone who has walked 1 mile home in the pitch dark at 6.30am with my wrist smashed into a right angle bend (thank you dogs Hmm). I swear that hurt less. Although it is entirely possible I was so out of it on pain when that happened it ceased to hurt, in that weird way that proper injuries don't hurt, only minor ones.

I think DH is at home for xmas from tomorrow, and tff that. I'm not entirely sure I can cope with anymore illnesses on my own this week. I have had enough illnesses to last me until Spring now. Although I am sure we will acquire more!

Plonky yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very excited for you.

Wotta hope it goes well, and don't worry about a bit of mess. Most buyers can see through that. Those that can't are usually time wasters out for a bit of weekend property porn nosiness.

SomethingBeginningWith · 17/12/2014 14:06

Oh, I didn't mean he doesn't have it, he has it in excess Wink I just meant he doesn't know what it's called so can't ask for it Grin

littledonkeysaurus · 17/12/2014 14:31

Oh that's lovely news Worse. Shame about the ear ache though. It sucks! Especially when you're limited to paracetamol and steam, although they can be v effective imho.

As someone who has recently house hunted the worst thing to find in a house is a bad smell. The first we viewed together was simply hanging, and the dog (one of those massive rescue hounds, looked like Hagrid) looked all knotted and very much in need of a bath. As your ds appears neither canine or dirty, I think people will like your house. They wouldn't be looking if they didn't think they could afford it, and I've seen your kitchen, it's smashing. So, if no one buys Wotta's house this weekend it's because they are damned fools.

So the contracts have been exchanged, and we are definitely completed on Friday. I've done the mail redirection, what else? Oh yeah utilities. Fuck. I feel so old now.

worserevived · 17/12/2014 21:07

Oh god, bad smells, ugh, you are so right. Every time we viewed this place they either had all the windows open, or it smelled of fish. I naively assumed they cooked a lot of fish. After we moved in it still smelled of fish, to the point where it was embarrassing, with an added over tone of tom cat pee. In desperation I washed every washable surface, and all painted walls down with bleach... but all that did was add a slightly chemical smell to the existing stink.

Eventually, the problem was traced to an innocuous square of carpet in the ambitiously named boot room aka hovel like porch. Apparently that was where the dogs sat to dry off after swimming in god knows what. The cat also, although perhaps not after swimming. I am unsure who to blame for the fleas, but they leapt literally knee high when I ripped up the carpet. Shudder.

Eco how's the tod doing? Any idea what it is/was? I'm hoping she's feeling better.

Plonky council tax, phone, tv licence, most importantly and wine for the new neighbours of the shared driveway fame. You want to keep them sweet for future driveway maintenance reasons Grin. It's fun being old and responsible isn't it? Not!

As for us, well we're fine and dandy. I use the term we loosely. DH and the toddle are fine and dandy. Me I'm an old wreck. Went to the chemist for ear drops. Was sent straight to the surgery, where the receptionist took one look at me and found me a cancellation. Exactly how shit do you have to look for that to happen? Very is my guess, which is a tad depressing. i thought I looked ok in a pale and interesting kind of way. Long and short, I have a chest infection and my ear drum is about to burst. Nice. I hope it does so neatly and doesn't ooze everywhere in an unseemly fashion. Didn't someone's toddle have a burst eardrum earlier in the year? I feel they did, but I can't remember... but if so give them some cock cock and a hug from me as it f**king hurts!

So that's my whinge over. As you were everyone Grin

WottaMess · 17/12/2014 21:57

Yup, DS bust his last winter. Got any calpol?

littledonkeysaurus · 17/12/2014 22:24

Jesus Worse I hope you're getting looked after! And damn right you definitely need that cleaner!

I felt quite sad for the chap with the stinky home. It looked very much like the scene of a very depressed man's life, who's wife has left him in late middle age with only a great big dog for company. And a teenage girl who, from the looks of her room, is in one of those stages. When we left dh said "I don't want to buy his house, I want to refer him for counselling".

But fleas? Yeuch! That's one of those experiences that you just don't seem to be able to wash off no matter how hard you scrub!

Thanks for the list. That's my morning job for tomorrow before I become a packing demon. Dh hasn't yet finished his shopping. We still have to get a Christmas tree. He's threatening to kill two birds with one stone and get me a "present" from homebase, the swine.

yummychocolate · 17/12/2014 22:25

plonky whoop whoop you finally exchanged. Don't forget to pack the kettle and essentials in a different box so you don't have to rummage through all the boxes for a cuppa.

worse if looking like shit made you get an appointment then so be it. Poor you, you have gone through so much. I remember someone telling me pregnant women's immune system is quite low so will catch anything.

something I had a winter wedding too and went well. I was full of adrenaline and was out about in a boobtube type wedding dress. I live your colour scheme too. How was santa?

wotta good luck with viewing.

Ds had a Christmas party yesterday at nursery he screamed of fear when he saw santa.

Anyone looking xmas threads and think omg I have so much to buy? I must remember shops close for one day only and in London there are always shops open anyway.

Anypants · 18/12/2014 01:24

Two nights in a row with no sleep.

That is all.

Brew
yummychocolate · 18/12/2014 03:33

any sleep deprivation is a bitch. Ds just woke for a bottle of milk vodka . Now I can't get back to sleep AGAIN.

WottaMess · 18/12/2014 08:03

DS woke having coughed himself sick at 3:15am. Complete change of everything later it took me so long to go to sleep. And then I overslept. I've lost a whole hour. I should have left 3 mins ago but still have to clean my teeth and get dressed. prob best not to ask what element of multi tasking means I'm on mn Blush

StormyBrid · 18/12/2014 09:11

I feel a bit left out - nothing to be late for, not buying anything mahoosive, everyone's healthy and sleeps (6.15pm to 7.30am last night). But my sympathies for everyone struggling. Especially worse. Are you sick of being pregnant yet?

yummychocolate · 18/12/2014 10:01

stormy that is amazing sleep. You must feel refreshed assuming you sleep well too. Sometimes I am a walking zombie and feels like I am in this bubble and people are talking to me but my hearing is all muffled.

I have a day in at home today. I am waiting for delivery and sky man is coming. I am looking forward to a good dose of Christmas films.

wotta multi-tasking is a great skill us female species have.

betty forgot to say hope you feel better. Are you working over Christmas?

StormyBrid · 18/12/2014 10:11

yummy I felt just the same before the sleeping pills! Took an age to drop off, the slightest thing would wake me, and once awake I couldn't get back to sleep. Amitriptyline changed my life. Worth talking to your GP about? Decent sleep does make such a difference to your life.

littledonkeysaurus · 18/12/2014 11:06

Wow it's like germ central at the moment isn't it!

Wotta is the boy ok? What a stressful start to your day!!

Worse and eco how are things today? The radio silence from eco has me worried.

Yummy is your lack of sleep directly linked to DS's? If so urrrrgh. I hope he outgrows this soon, for your sake. If not, I second Stormy's suggestion.

I'm on hold to PlusNet. Dancing around to Don't You Want Me Baby. Surrounded by things that aren't yet packed. Eek it all feels a bit too sudden now! We only booked our movers this morning (long boring story). Like Wotta I clearly find solace in procrastinating on here.

ecofreckle · 18/12/2014 12:38

We are in one scabby pussy piece. Will return to say proper hello when this one is asleep

OP posts:
ecofreckle · 18/12/2014 15:08

Hello, yoo-hoo! Illness sucks eh? I am now initiated ecotod even had the corner pastry from a greggs sausage roll today

So it is hand, foot and mouth virus that she has. I can't recall if anyone on here has had a LO with it yet? In our case it has sucked, but a few of the other mums of infected toddles have had a less rough ride. The red, pus-tastic, now crusty spots are terrible on her face, hands and bum. She finally let me see her tongue today and it is a mess: covered in ulcers. She did however sleep last night do we all three got some sleep. I am hopeful that she is on the up now. NHS website says she is infectious until 7 days after first symptoms so that takes us to Sunday evening/Monday morning: guessing Something and Plonk won't want to see Ecotod on Monday any more and I don't blame you Sad. We have also missed our special day in London meeting up with DH's best man, wife and baby over from USA and our toddler group Christmas party complete with theatre group, Santa, specially chosen gift and bad party food. And glum of all glums we are missing our annual yule weekend with our dear friends this coming weekend. It sucks a bit. But, I do have all my shopping, Christmas baking and wrapping done.

Ah bother, was hoping to respond to everyone's posts but spottytod is awake now. May I just make do with a "congratulations Plonky", a "how did it go Wotta?" and a "get to bed Worse, you have my sympathies with that rotten hand you've been dealt....it'll all be right by Christmas" xxxx (premature over familiar Friday because it's Christmas)

yummychocolate · 18/12/2014 16:54

I will consider it. Its a bit of both really. I find it hard to settle even though I am tired I also start getting really itchy. Very odd I know. Then if ds wakes in the middle of the night I find it hard to resettle. Even if he doesn't wake up which is once in a blue moon I am awake because I am so used to waking every 2-3 hours.

StormyBrid · 18/12/2014 16:55

Fartypants had hfm a while back. She was a grumpy bugger for a few days but not too bad really. Sounds like Ecotod has a rather more severe case. Not much you can do except batten down the hatches and ride it out.

I suspect Fartypants might have a bit of a tummyache. Keeps saying poo but she hasn't pooed, and she's been saying she's got the hiccups all day (hasn't had them at all). I suppose she doesn't have the words to say what's going on. But fingers crossed for a vomit free night.

yummychocolate · 18/12/2014 16:58

eco I missed your post. Gosh poor dd, you and dh. I am sure you will see the funny side to this in a few years telling her you had to cancel loads of fun events because she was spotty.

worserevived · 18/12/2014 19:35

Eco Sad, sounds utterly miserable. Poor you. Poor dd. We've had it here, at least DH caught it, gave it to his mum when she visited, and me, but we think the toddle's case was so minor we didn't actually notice [bad parent emoticon]. Of all of us MIL had the worst case, as it has affected her immune system to the point where gluten and dairy now bring her out in hives (after nearly 70 years of being able to eat anything). It's a nasty bug by all accounts. Hope spottytod feels better soon.

Stormy am I tired of being pregnant yet? Good question. I kind of am until I consider the reality of not being pregnant anymore i.e. child birth. When I think about that little pleasure to come I can quite see the point of remaining lumpy and bumpy with a non existent immune system for a wee bit longer Grin

As for all my knackered immune system related bugs, on the mend thanks to antibiotics. At least I assume so. I did have the slight misfortune of having to see the homeopathic doctor at the surgery though, who as well as the more normal remedies prescribed me some slightly more esoteric ones. A balloon to blow up with one nostril for one. Slightly better than the powders for over worked mothers he furnished me with last time I saw him. Honestly....

News for the day we now have large double doors into an almost leak proof conservatory... and no brick dust. Anywhere. I love these builders. They are the best. I feel the need to write a glowing internet review and recommend them to everyone I know anyone need a builder

Anypants · 18/12/2014 22:37

Oh dear eco - sorry for the hfm. Should I be worried about DD I wondet? She has had dry, red patches on her arms for a couple of weeks (sudocreme has helped a littlr) and is now unable to sleep at night but no signs of a cold. She had a temp of 38 this morning but it went down. She slept for 3 hours today but woke up an hour after going to bed and is still awake now. Cannot take another night of three or four hours of sleep in one hour chunks. Any suggestions? Tonight she's had: dentinox, calpol, warm milk, water, snufflebabe.

ecofreckle · 18/12/2014 23:02

Hi any. Doesn't sound like hand foot and mouth based on this experience. The spots are definitely spots and were not dry....those red patches could be eczema. My own eczema often flares in the winter as the heating goes on and the cold outside gets me too. Sudocrem can be quite drying so try magic aveeno perhaps? And as for tonight could you set up a bed next to her cot to reassure her and try and maximise your sleep? Could it be her throat or ears and she's in pain with them? Alternate calpol and ibuprofen perhaps if so? Good luck with it xx

Ha! Look at me getting all liberal with my kisses Smile Sorry everyone. Normal service is resuming.

OP posts:
Anypants · 18/12/2014 23:45

Right back atcha

Yes - she seems a little like she just needs a cuddle but I tried everythong last night: leaving her to cry (she just got beside herself), cuddling her (she played with my face), sitting next to the cot and soothing her (leading to having toys thrown at me and still no lying down) and finally sitting in the chair and doing bugger all until she was well and truly asleep. We've had two/three weeks of shocking sleep but this is a whole new level. Who stole my amazing-sleeping toddle?
