Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
worserevived · 22/10/2014 15:11

Grin thanks guys for making me laugh... as I needed that. I am having another day of it. First herself isn't really eating, or playing, or wanting to do anything much and would appear to have a mottled rash on her stomach and back. I have no clue. It's not a dangerous type rash, and she doesn't have a temperature, so I'm thinking it might be something to do do with the antibiotics. Should I stop giving them to her? Her ear seems fine. Anyone have any ideas before I try 111 again and they note me down as a neurotic pfb.

Oh and I just locked myself, and dd out. That was fun, given this place has more security than fort knox thanks to a rather nervous previous owner. If it hadn't been for the fact DH left a key in the back door (something I usually give him severe grief over), and I have burly builders on site who were happy enough to smash their way through a security pane I'd still be out there. It always happens on the day when neighbours with keys are out and not answering their mobiles.

I need tea and peanut butter. Now. I am so glad the pregnancy banned foods list was altered to allow such things or I'd be in even bigger trouble than I was before.

Plonkysaurus · 22/10/2014 15:50

Worse does that mean the pb aversion has passed? Happy days!

Well, almost happy day. Sounds stressful :( no idea about the rash, I'm trying to remember if antibiotics did anything to DS, but he's quite a rashy child anyway. 111 are there for help. Is Betty about?

We've got our mortgage in principle and I'm grinning like a Cheshire cat. The bank want to lend us LOADSA MONEY. Why?

worserevived · 22/10/2014 16:01

Plonky it has, kind of. I'd rather have almond butter, but we've run out. Peanut butter still doesn't taste quite right, but is a good enough substitute, provided it doesn't have bits in it. I can't be doing with bits. V puke inducing.

Congrats on the mortgage!!!! Smile. Does that mean it's all systems go on the house now? As for why they want to lend, well, either they are mad or they figure you are a good risk. What do you reckon Grin?

The toddle is still asleep. Really not happy about this, she isn't right. I know all about antibiotic resistance, but, my mummy gut feeling is telling me to stop giving them to her.

yummychocolate · 22/10/2014 16:02

worse the rash might be from the infection. I am sure the GP told me once that if baby's have infections a rash may come up.

plonky great news. Let the buying commence. Smile

Plonkysaurus · 22/10/2014 16:08

Worse go with your gut until instructed otherwise. That's what I'd do, anyway. Can you get her in at the GP later today?

We're looking at a place at tea time. If it's good, and I have a sneaking suspicion it will be, then offer will be placed tomorrow. It requires some work but I think that's a good thing - the under floor heating house is too done if that makes sense? I don't know how we'd put our own stamp on the place. The one we're about to see is more of a blank canvas. I think it's a little bit that the banks are bonkers, but a little bit that they can clearly tell DH and I are terrified of unnecessary debt. Works for us anyway.

I've slightly gone off PB. For now anyway. The PB Summer of 2014 might've been a bridge too far. I was putting it on everything. Then DH bought Skippy Angry.

WottaMess · 22/10/2014 17:03

Mmmmmmm. Skippy pb. Sorry that wasn't helpful. I did once get checked for explosives at Houston airport as they thought a 5lb tub of the stuff was plastic explosive. In my defence you couldn't buy it in the uk then. sounds like Plonk wishes you still couldn't Wink

Plonkysaurus · 22/10/2014 18:15

I think we've found our house Grin

worserevived · 22/10/2014 20:58

Plonky Yay!!!!!! Good luck, I'm crossing everything for you.

My day of disasters continues. The boiler has just packed up, so the house is cold, and I ran the toddle a cold bath. She insisted on going in Confused so I let her, as I can't take any more screaming.

Days like today I really wish DH was at home instead of having dinner out in London. To be fair to him he's left early, but when you're the one dealing with everything, and haven't had anything more appetising than sandwiches all day, you can't help but feel a bit Envy

BettyOff · 22/10/2014 21:01

Sorry Worse, I'm always absent in times of need! It's likely to be a viral rash but if in doubt I'd stop them, you're not going to cause instant resistance to penicillins by stopping a 7 day course on day 2 or 3 as a one off. Has she had penicillins before? Also, have you checked her temp with a thermometer to make sure it's not low either? Have you got any concerns about her breathing rate or does it look laboured? In all honesty, temp or no temp, if you're concerned I would get it checked out. If it was me and I was happy that she was well enough I'd possibly leave it overnight and see the GP tomorrow but as I can't see her and she's not mine I'd say trust your instincts. If you're not happy check it out. There's a good chance you'll wait hours for them to do bugger all but tell you to keep an eye on her and give her regular calpol but that's so much better than doing nothing if you did need to.

Plonky, get that offer in first thing! Also, hurrah for the bank there's a sentence I didn't think I'd be saying in the near future !

ecofreckle · 22/10/2014 21:40

Plonky thanks for the link on Facebook. It's a winner!

Worse have you got your dh back again now and what did you decide to do with the toddle? That sounds like a trying day. It can't get much worse so hopeful that the last two and a half hours are uneventful maybe just stay in bed and don't move anything I hope you did the calls earlier on and that those don't interrupt your night.

Today sucked a bit here too. But it was always going to. We ended up walking across the bridge that makes people across the busy road in the vicinity. That's stooping quite low in terms of 'fun things to do with your toddler' but she loved it. The chickpea biriyani got plastered liberally across the floor (rice! why do we do this to ourselves?). We danced to gogol bordello and bowie. There were tears about the injustice of not having bunny with you when you've just chosen to climb upstairs without it. One of those toddlesome days Smile I'm hopeful of something in excess of two hours sleep tonight. And for you too something.

Plonkysaurus · 22/10/2014 21:47

2 hours eco? How did you manage to stay upright?

I've been thinking about the lack of bath in the house we're putting an offer on tomorrow. I'm thinking I have 3 options:

  1. Source mega sized baby bath or small paddling pool. Or a shallow builders bucket.
  2. Get him used to the shower. Tricky. Will involve both of us showering together for a awhile.
  3. Install whole new bathroom.

Any ideas?

worserevived · 22/10/2014 22:10

Betty thank you. Her temp was 36.3 last time I took it, which is the low end of normal. Is that ok? Her breathing is ok. She ate a small meal, but refused bed time milk, and wouldn't touch the antibiotics earlier so I have by default discontinued them. I'm hoping it's just a reaction to the medicine, but will take her to the GP tomorrow. They wouldn't see her today. You have to ring first thing in the morning for a same day appointment.

ecofreckle · 22/10/2014 22:12

Plonky it was one of those rare occasions where I was literally only in bed for two hours so no dozing to tot up in addition, hence me feeling horizontal all day. I felt physically ill from the tiredness. But it was a work day so work I did....too much guilt otherwise. Stupid. But anyhow, the way I was feeling I'd rather have been working than looking after a weary toddler. I got best of both worlds today, someone else having her until three and then a few pre bed hours of fun.

Baths eh? An essential for me. Handy for a toddle. Could you use the kitchen sink or is that a bit seventies? It might be in time that he asks why he doesn't use the big bathroom and opts in to transitioning to showering. I know a couple of toddlers age two ish who did this. When camping we always take baby bath and she seems perfectly content with that. Have you a quote for the bath installation and do you have the funds? If so I'd say go for it because where else can you enjoy your Vouvray and éclairs in peace?

BettyOff · 22/10/2014 22:54

Worse that's fine, I'm generally happy with anything from 35.5 (depending on where I've taken temp from)-38 for ToddleOff. I hope you have a restful night and that goes for Eco too and the rest of you scrummy lot

I've just managed to wipe my iphone and restore it to factory settings so now instead of my planned early night with a book I'm desperately trying to undo it. Grrrr.

worserevived · 23/10/2014 08:07

Betty thank you again, we are so lucky having you on here. The toddle is completely back to her old self today, so it was the amoxicillin. She's had it before, and didn't react in the same way, so who knows what that was about. Different batch maybe?

As for the boiler, the drama continues. It's not the boiler, it's the gas supply. The diggers have gone through a pipe. Lucky no one lit a fag really, or we'd have gone up in smoke.

Eco better night?

Plonkysaurus · 23/10/2014 10:55

It's ours Grin

Worse glad to hear she's perked up today. And if that's not an anti-smoking campaign I'm not sure what is Shock!

Plonkysaurus · 23/10/2014 11:25

Jeezy Chreezy this is going quickly!

The mortgage product our IFA can get actually expires at 8pm tonight. Trust this to be her day on annual leave! But it's happening....really bloody fast! I wish I'd managed more than 4 hours kip last night, but I'll just dive head first into the cafetiere instead.

Plonkysaurus · 23/10/2014 11:45

And I open my inbox to find an invitation to an assessment day for the job I applied for. Which I now can't do because it'll scupper our mortgage application.

Did someone say swings and roundabouts?!

I'll stop spamming the thread now Grin

worserevived · 23/10/2014 11:57

Plonky exciting times! Really happy for you.

You could always go to the assessment day, just in case the house falls through. Not that is will, but never burn bridges and all that.

WottaMess · 23/10/2014 12:30

Do the assessment day! It won't scupper it, you'll have moved in by then at this rate! Grin Doors open that's what I say.

SomethingBeginningWith · 23/10/2014 14:13

Definitely do the assessment day!! What an exciting time for you Grin

worse glad she's perking up for you.

DS woke this morning saying his favourite word "NO NO NO NO" over and over again. "Let's go and see granny." "NO" "Do you want some juice?" "NO". It's great fun. But to granny's with some juice he went. And I spent the morning walking the pooch, doing the big shop, emptying bins, washing pots, taking time to shower and sitting down with a cup of tea before work.

SomethingBeginningWith · 23/10/2014 14:14

Oh, and in my first hour at work, four of the kids told me that I'm their favourite member of staff and one made me a loom band bracelet. Bless 'em!

BettyOff · 23/10/2014 21:58

Great news Plonky! Definitely do the assessment day, what's the worst that will happen just by doing the day?!

Plonkysaurus · 24/10/2014 08:13

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'm going to do that really annoying thing though and ignore all your good advice. I thought I wanted a full time job but now I'm really not so sure. We've had a few rough weeks with sleeping etc and it's really put me off, coupled with a few other realisations. I'm not normally one to walk away from an opportunity, but I don't feel I have a choice.

I think I've been running on adrenaline this week and now I feel thoroughly zonked.
