Oh poor little thing! Ear infections are an arse. Teamed up with teething it's a nightmare.

Passmethecrisps · 19/03/2014 14:07

She has calmed down now. Q Pootle helped. She is not right though. She was squirming and kicking her legs. Weird. Ah well. Thank goodness for cbeebies

Passmethecrisps · 19/03/2014 14:09

Actually, doc said she had a 'bulgy eardrum'. Does that mean an infection? Probably a stupid question. Do ear infections not need ABs?

Any word of LO pr?

ChasingDaisy · 19/03/2014 14:30

Poor O has five fecking teeth coming through at once. Four molars and a canine. He is coping admirably, but a bit whingy and clingy. Just before I have to abandon him for work, of course. Stressful day here. Finding childcare is proving to be a nightmare and I almost burst into tears every time I think about leaving him.

Is it sweary Wednesday? Good. All the fucking quiche illnesses can fuck off. Our babies don;t deserve this. They're awesome. So are we.

Oh, and thank you quiche, for my good luck card Smile It is very lovely and made me feel incredibly loved. Thank you Thanks

YellowWellies · 19/03/2014 14:32

Pass if her bulgy eardrum is like the one I had in January which eventually perforated my eardrum - it's bloody agony. I needed ten days of very high dose ABs to shift it and they even prescribed me super dooper pain killers too - it really is something else. I'd push for ABs to be honest. I'm pretty relaxed about not bothering with ABs for his chest and throat but having had a vair nasty ear infection and the faff of it perforating - I'd push for them if he had an ear infection. Poor sausage. And poor you. It's horrible seeing them in pain Sad

YellowWellies · 19/03/2014 14:34

Chasing poor O! We had four teeth in one weekend and whilst it was horrific at the time I figured it saved him pain in the long run by getting it over quicker? Hope they are all in and he's comfy again in time for you going to work. You don't need to be worrying about teething when you start your new adventure xxx

PetiteRaleuse · 19/03/2014 14:41

Pass I guess by bulgy they mean swollen? I would assume there is an ear infection. LO's eardrum perforated last year and there was no sign on the outside of it being about to happen -she was at the doctors the day before. I think piggie explained it to me at the time as pressure building up from the inside, and when it did perforate it was a relief as the pain must have been awful. I'm surprised your doctor didn't give more of an explanation tbh but I would take her back, and say that if they think it is infected, could be infected, or whatever you want treatment for it. The pain is incredible, as yw says. Oh, and nurofen is apparently more effective on ear issues but you can play tag with paracetamol if she is finding the pain too hard.

I couldn't understand last year when the paed said she thought it was teething that was causing such awful pain for LO. I couldn't believe it but she assured me there was nothing wrong with her ears. That night, mid screamathon she suddenly stopped screaming and smiled and slept through, but woke up with an ear full of pus.

PetiteRaleuse · 19/03/2014 14:43

I am also reluctant when it comes to antibiotics btw, and have been known to throw a bit of a strop when prescribed them for myself :o

PetiteRaleuse · 19/03/2014 14:46

And no word from nursery yet. Keeping fingers crossed but have just handed in my latest translation so the pressure is off for the next few days.

Bastard teeth can go and fucking do one. LO is managing quite well without them and seems to be able to chew pretty well with what she has so why can't milk teeth just be, say, 8 or 10, rather than 20 or however many there are, and the adult teeth can come along later when you can bloody explain to the little darlings that yes, they are in pain, and no, we can't do anything about it, and they will understand.

Passmethecrisps · 19/03/2014 14:47

Thanks ladies. The screaming and writhing lasted about 45 minutes and now she is happily pushing the laundry basket around. So weird.

ValiumQueen · 19/03/2014 14:54

Pass I think ABs are indicated. Could the writhing and leg kicking be her reflux getting worse? Does she need a bit of an adjustment in meds? I have bucketloads of the magic Omeprazole if you are in need x

Passmethecrisps · 19/03/2014 15:02

Could well be vq. She was firing out big farts as well so it did seem like abdominal pain. She is currently on 15 split 10ml and 5ml. We could try the full 15 again tomorrow morning. I suppose molars, and ear infection and a sore throat would make you pretty miserable generally.

Anyway.

Quiet here today. I can hear my own whining echo!

Passmethecrisps · 19/03/2014 15:03

Oh! And thank you for the lovely offer of mups. Thankfully we have been given an "as long as needed" prescription so no problems

ChasingDaisy · 19/03/2014 15:03

Oh gosh, ear infections sound horrid Sad Luckily neither me or O have ever suffered from one.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 19/03/2014 15:07

The only thing is with clothes on dolls, is that it helps develop motor skills and important self care skills. As they grow to be an older toddler and starting to get ready for pre school the key things they need to be learning is basic self care stuff like getting their shoes on, putting their coat on and buttoning it, zipping it, doing Velcro.

At the moment I am spending a lot of time with DS1 trying to get him to easily out on his trainer and zip his coat. We have to start getting ready to leave the house about 15 mins before we need to leave.

ValiumQueen · 19/03/2014 15:10

J can put his shoes on himself He struggles with the laces though Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 19/03/2014 15:11

Sorry, a bit late to the doll party.

Poor old you lots ears. Sounds horrible. Is so true though pass when they say that kids go down hill super quick and bounce back just the same. I hope she stays ok now. Xx

Sophiathesnowfairy · 19/03/2014 15:12

Only In The last couple of days O goes to the door and gets an arm in his coat

Zamboni · 19/03/2014 15:16

Naked dollies AND toddlers in this house! Grin

YellowWellies · 19/03/2014 15:34

Jonas lies on his star blanket when I ask him to so I can pop him in it. (Have just ebayed him a proper big boy coat). He's also very good at lifting arms etc up when asked so we can dress him easier. He can get into my shoes too! Will try to find some removable clothes for his dolls as that's a good point Soph I'm quite happy for him to still be a free spirited wee nudist with no embarrassment about his body but yeah, at some point learning to get dressed rather than strip will be helpful. I'll have to remember to keep said doll's clothes away from the dog who is a fiend for collecting small items of clothing like socks and burying them in the garden.

Argh poor P reflux just takes the piss, kicking them when they are down. If this baby isn't a refluxer I am not going to know what to do with myself! It must be so much easier just not having to think about that shit. Of course am sure he / she will be as that seems to be the way in our family.

PR am glad you've not heard from nursery.

I'm analysing energy policy from around the world today. And getting quite pissed off with a subcontractor who seems to expect us environmental bods to do his economic analysis for him... he keeps pointing out where to get the data for his sections of the report from and asking us in passive aggressive track changes comments to do it. Errr fck off and do it yourself you lazy old bstard.... And Smile

Sophiathesnowfairy · 19/03/2014 15:43

yw that reminds me of a certain government body trying to give me advice but getting me to write the report Confused

Sophiathesnowfairy · 19/03/2014 15:44

Hungry.

MsJupiter · 19/03/2014 16:04

Poor poorly babies. Pass that sounds horrid & Chasing too.

L has a clothed dolly. It came like that and we've never taken its clothes off. He burps it over his shoulder like my sister does with her baby.

Lily311 · 19/03/2014 16:18

Thank you yw but I can't accept it, the postage would cost you more than the galaxy itself. And only the smooth milk would do. It's anyway for the better, need to lose the pounds not gain them.

PetiteRaleuse · 19/03/2014 16:24

Dollies are useful for potty training too.
