It's time to move to Post-Natal clubs.

Even now M randomly has some days when he poos loads and some when he doesn't at all. When he was teeny he'd surprise us all by doing six one day and then none for eight days. No apparent logic for any of it. Although when he didn't go to the loo for ages someone told me to eat spinach. No idea if it's an old wives take but don't suppose you've been eating that?

Alexandra6 · 19/02/2014 09:30

I've been back on dairy for a while but maybe the fraps were a bit hard core Wink I don't mind doing all the nappies at all but it's the fact she seems to have tummy ache too, poor thing and that meant our little run of good nights was over damn

Alexandra6 · 19/02/2014 21:13

Not that I'm obsessing about routines and good habits again or anything...but...I am rubbish at them! Got home late after a nice day with the NCT girls, then managed bath, sleeping bag, feed but she's now fast asleep on me while I watch tv and not in her sleepyhead bed! and I'm secretly enjoying the cuddle

Cavort · 19/02/2014 21:47

Evenin' all! My bloody phone has broke so I am now without MN (unless on laptop) as well as without sleep. I didn't realise how much my phone keeps me awake while night feeding until I fell asleep feeding last night for the first time since E was a few weeks old. Of course her current shitty sleeping might have contributed towards that though. Loads to catch up on and i've only been offline for a day!

Lol how did your underwater photos go? They emailed me and very apologetically backtracked and said we could't have the £10 in conjunction with other offers such as the one at Lewes. When they offered it to me I don't think they anticipated me sending business their way in Brighton. Smile

Alex sod the routine, sleepy cuddles sound lovely!

Sleeping is so bad here that I now have a mattress installed on the floor in E's bedroom in preparation for another night of hell. Sad Last night went like this...
7.45 - bed
8.15 - woke up screaming
10.50 - woke up screaming. Would only settle with a feed.
12.30 - woke up screaming. Would only settle with a feed.
01.30 - 04.00 - wide awake
04.30 - woke up screaming but settled straight off.
06.00 - woke up screaming. Fed but wouldn't settle so brought her into our bed and where she then slept until 9am.

Our baby is broken Sad

Alexandra6 · 19/02/2014 22:00

Oh cav Sad I'm a bit worried as my NCT girls, who are all a bit further down the line than I am baby age-wise, are struggling with terrible sleep, even the one that slept amazingly well. So between their experience and what you're going through, I have the fear about what's to come, I really do! Sometimes I think, why don't we all just give in and let them sleep in with us if it leads to better sleep, is that really so bad?!

When it gets rough again, I guess I need to remember it can't be as bad as when S used to literally scream all night and couldn't be soothed.

I'm loving this cuddle, and DH is out with the NCT boys so he isn't here to encourage me to try putting her down so I'm indulging!

BlearyeyedLol · 19/02/2014 22:12

Alex don't worry about routines. Honest. Any sleep is good!
Cav the guy did still give me a £5 discount so I upgraded to a larger canvas and got everything for £99 inc delivery so excellent value for money.
The shot was good, he is a very good photographer. I wasn't as keen on the swim teacher (his wife) and thought she was dunking L too fast without enough time for her to get ready. As a result she got cranky and cried every time the woman touched her! So in the end I did a couple of dunkings and also went under water with her a few times. Still reckon we got some nice ones.
Omg what is this sleep hell you are going trough? I'm tired enough with my troubles which seem a lot less than yours!

MotherOfCleo · 19/02/2014 22:18

alex seriously sod the routine, and enjoy cuddles for the night! S wont mind, she'll enjoy the cuddles! Smile I put H down in his carrycot for all naps apart from the 3pm one where we read a story then snuggle together and if possible I grab 40 winks Wink while H naps. It does both of us good I think Grin

cav, I really feel for you. H had a 2 hour wake up last night 3-5, it was horrible! Sad I can't imagine how hard it is for you night after night. H kept wakig screaming last night too Sad I think he has a tooth coming, I can see white bits under his gums and he seems to like to chew on the bottle rather than drink at the mo. I usually wake to him fussing though and can get to him before he screams so last night sucked! He would then chew the bottle, fall asleep and then wake screaming again. Not our best night! Sad

MotherOfCleo · 19/02/2014 22:59

Oh and re co-sleeping, I dont do it as much as I used to because H now has a nasty habit of punching or kicking me Wink

Once he wakes up after 6ish I sometimes consider putting him in with me, thats only really if I've been up hundreds of times already though. I really hope he sleeps better tonight, we are getting dangerously close to 4 months.....I am sticking my head in the sand re 4 month sleep regression Confused

Quodlibet · 20/02/2014 02:21

Mother re your achy joints, my sister had terrible postpartum joint pain and it was a vitamin d deficiency - worth a shot?

MotherOfCleo · 20/02/2014 08:52

thanks quod, I started taking floradix, floravital yesterday may have od'd on it a tad and can actually feel the difference already. Its a liquid which you take once or 3 in my case times a day, its packed with iron, vit b6, b12, c etc etc. I think b12 could be an issue as the symptoms for deficiency fit pretty well. Fingers crossed it sorts me out.

I was worried it was early onset arthritis as my mum has bad osteo and rhumatoid arthritisSad think I was jumping to a diagnosis a bit quick tho!

HazleNutt · 20/02/2014 09:13

wow cav you have certainly earned a medal there. It took a little while after he got teeth, but V is sleeping loads better now, so fx for E as well.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 20/02/2014 09:18

bleary read your update last night and dreamt of photos of baby swimming all night (mostly about me missing appointments and rescheduling, then killing time at the pool and landing up again)!
Yeah we've tried floradix too, DH and u, it's really great.
Was leaving a voicemail for my boss just now and DD did a big lush fart in the middle of it BlushBlush Now he'll think it was me BlushBlush

Cavort · 20/02/2014 10:37

It's still undeniably shit, but in comparison to the last few weeks last night was sooo much better. Smile E woke to feed at 12.20 and was up for an hour at 04.30 and then got up for the day at 8.15 DH and I even managed some morning DTD action as we woke before her which is absolutely unheard of. I daren't get too excited that the worst is over after just one better night, but I have absolutely everything crossed.

Lol I can't wait to see your photos. Grin

Cavort · 20/02/2014 10:47

I should also add that she spent all night in her cot - hence the DTD. That would just be wrong if she was in with us. Grin

Alexandra6 · 20/02/2014 11:22

Grin zombies!

Good work E and good work cav! That's better than the night I had - S slept on me from 8pm-11pm, then went in her cosleeper until 2am (chickened out of waking her for a dream feed), then she was up at 5am and 7am. Not too bad though but it's no ten hours straight damn it

Just been to the doctors for her check up - she's slightly over average for height and weight so bf is going well Grin S was also very cheerful and the doc said not to worry about two little strawberry marks she has on her back and eyelid, she reckons they'll prob disappear over time. Well done little S Smile

Alexandra6 · 20/02/2014 11:23

Oh and still no dtd action here, we need S to have a lie in one weekend! And not on us!

Cavort · 20/02/2014 11:25

Alex my friend's baby was born with really big red/purple strawberry marks on her back. She's 3.5 now and you can hardly see them. Smile

BlearyeyedLol · 20/02/2014 11:30

Cav you deserve a medal to have the energy to shag in this sleep deprived state! Whenever L is asleep I look at my dh and say, right, I'm off to bed. Bye! I'm ashamed to say we've done it once only since L was born and right now I'm to tired to contemplate it again Confused
Over here after two ok nights we ha another shit one in which she would only settle in our bed. I am knackered.
Good news Alex. L had marks on her eyelids as well and they are gone now!

Cavort · 20/02/2014 11:41

Janey Have you made a decision on a Honeymoon yet? While researching possible destinations for us, I read this article (DM link, sorry Blush) about taking young children to the Seychelles and this caught my eye...

"Hot, puffy and blinking in the bright sunshine, we all flopped into an air-conditioned 4x4 for the mercifully short 40-minute trip to the Maia Luxury Resort and Spa. Set in 12 acres of tropical gardens, the Maia was a sight for a sore eyes – not to mention back, neck and shoulders.
Situated in the south west of the mainland, hugging white-sandy Anse Louis cove and the surrounding hillside, it’s a small, independent resort with just 30 villas.
But with more than 200 staff, it reputedly packs a boutique punch that knocks its upmarket rivals out of the Indian Ocean.
It has done away with irritating inconveniences such as a reception desk and check-in, and we were transported swiftly through the resort gates straight to our beachside villa to relax. And what a villa.
Large, airy and beautifully fitted out, it had a plunge pool large enough for the children to swim in, an open-air kitchen, four sinks, two showers, two loos, numerous fat comfy sunbeds and a great sound system.
But the best thing? It came with a full-time butler and professional child-whisperer called Gusti, who within a few hours of our arrival had our son fast asleep in a golf buggy and our daughter set up to make silk-screen T-shirts with a local artist.
My husband and I had nothing left to do but collapse on to a couple of loungers and burn ourselves in the sun – and we learned very quickly that if we ventured out of our villa, we could have the whole place to ourselves.
I am sure there were other guests. They told us there were. In fact, we once saw the back of someone on the way to breakfast and there was another couple who rudely ventured on to ‘our’ beach, but the Maia is a place that is so discreet and so bespoke that you end up thinking they’ve put the whole thing together just for you.
My children swam naked in the huge hotel pool, complete with fantastic waterfalls, while my husband and I had his ’n’ hers treatments in the spa. We had full-time childcare – so why not? We even did yoga together for the first time, I think, since 1996."

This place sounds absolutely Honeymoon-tastic, especially your own full-time child carer part! Grin

Alexandra6 · 20/02/2014 15:27

Sounds amazing! DH and I have promised each other we'll go back to our Maldives honeymoon resort one day as soon as we can escape child free! We could consider taking children when they're old enough to appreciate it but it's pricey so not sure we'd be able to justify that, we'll see.

Anyway back to humble Spain...I'm trying to decide on a travel cot and whether we can squeeze a light one into our easyjet luggage. Quod and janey, you recommended the samsonite ones which have changed name now apparently (koo-di) but as S will be 7 months then, I'm not sure whether she'll squeeze into the 0-6 months one (cheaper and lighter) or whether we should go for the 6-18 months one. Does anyone have any advice/experience or know how spacious the 0-6 months one is? Think it's the one you have in France janey?

HazleNutt · 20/02/2014 15:32

How tall is S, what percentile? I'm thinking that if you go for the bigger one, you could use it more than once - 0-6 definitely won't last much past 7 months.

OP posts:
Alexandra6 · 20/02/2014 15:53

She's 75th, the little piggy. I guess it depends on how small the bigger size one folds up, as yes that's the best option for how long we can use it for isn't it. I just didn't want to lose all my luggage space but I guess DH and I will need to go very minimal either way (as we've only got one 20kg case and hand luggage)

Cavort · 20/02/2014 16:57

Alex I haven't bought it yet, but I am probably going to get one of these for our Egypt holiday which I still haven't got round to booking yet. It can be used as a travel cot (has a self-inflating mattress and mosquito net) and sun tent for baby to play in during the day. I have been looking around for something practical to take with us and this looks the best. Her sleeping is so shit so I don't to introduce something new on the first day of our holiday which might lead to nighttime hell, so I can buy this and get her used to napping in it before we go.

BlearyeyedLol · 20/02/2014 19:56

Erm am I being naive in thinking a good hotel will provide travel cot??!!
We're also planning to go to Spain in April. Barcelona then beach and I was hoping the hotels would have it?? Am I stupid?!
Also can anyone recommend a nice beach near Barcelona? Anyone been to sitges??

HazleNutt · 20/02/2014 20:06

Yes hotels will have travel cots. Alex is going to friend's place though if I remember correctly.
