Mine are only to take for 1 week after. But We're only in affected countries for 24-48 hours I suppose! I wouldn't worry though. A lot of my fellow workers don't bother - just rely on deet.
Our drier nearly caught on fire last night. [sigh] have been needing a new one, but not the most ideal timing!

DeidreBarlow · 16/12/2013 15:08

I think my mum regularly stops her malaria tablets before she's meant too when she returns from a trip. She claims they make her feel sick!

Am so behind with everything. Waaaaaah. And am out for most of the day as it's the pre-school party/concert then the girls' ballet perf, I have the fam coming at the weekend and a trillion things to do before then....

Bef I come back properly, Beans - what a shocking thing to happen to your friend. I hope it comes to court very fast and there's the right conclusion. Poor poor woman.

Rubes - what happened with the house?! I totally missed that!

The best of British, Jam. So exciting.

I have to go I have to go I have to go...

Rubena · 17/12/2013 19:12

Indith, that is brilliant! Grin

Nativity 1st performance lovely this morning! Except was held outside.... toes were numb. (and I have that Raynaud's phenomenon) ds had told me his line (he was a King - "frankincense for the baby" then instead the other king cocked up and said ds's line by accident, so ds quickly said "myrrh for the baby" - so proud! Grin
Anyway, speaking of cocking up, one of the mums (who I really like) and is heavily pregnant, has been acting odd surrounding the latest festivities at school, and then today pulled her daughter out of the nativity, bringing her in after it was over, just for school. I later found out she is a JWitness. I wanted to slide under the table as I recall making a joke to her a couple of weeks back that she should "hurry up and have that baby so it can play baby Jesus in the Nativity" Shock Kill. Me. Now. It was a classic Rubes moment.

Hey I've just noticed you can mark the thread to send notification of replies!? am I the last to know this?

Indith · 17/12/2013 20:13

Can you really? I did not know that.

Love your comment. That is fabulous! Well done to your boy, thinking on his feet.

Who thought it would be a good idea to have it outside? I have Reynauds too. Have treated myself to wool socks this winter, love them. Normally my toes hurt for the entire winter but so far so good.

Had the travelling crib tonight so had to set it up, read the book, dd had to draw a picture (which is all in purple. Joseph looks like a dinosaur). So of course tonight dh is rowing, ds2 threw a pre dinner tantrum, then a during dinner tantrum when I dared to fill his cup (he wanted a drink). He hasn't eaten anything yet. He spent 45 mins screaming and yelling "daaaaaady dadeeeeeeeee!". During which time I carted him around cuddling him, the big ones ate their dinner, I got them in the bath etc. I then got screaming ds2 into pjs and thankfully he asked for milk so I fed him, he fell asleep. I tried ot put him down so I could rescue the others from the bath. He flipping well woke up. "Dadeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Why can I not put the baby down? Dh is the only one who can get him to sleep and in bed. Ever. Unless he happens to fall asleep feeding but then I can't move him. He won't co sleep any more. He will jsut insist on being attached ot my nipple but won't actually go to sleep.

Dh is away tomorrow night

Am tempted to try to crack this thing and stick ds1 in the loft room and just sit on the floor beside ds2 all night.

ZuleikaJambiere · 18/12/2013 12:52

Is anyone else lurking to see if there is any news from Jam? Grin Hope you're getting plenty of rest and TLC while you can

Beans, your poor friend, I don't know what to say, that's just hideous for her . Have you seen her to give her a hug?

JamInMyWellies · 18/12/2013 16:41

Still nothing. We have booked a sitter tonight and are going to see Anchorman 2 in the hope that laughing lots will set things off. I really need it to the pitying looks and constant questions on the walk too and from school are driving me round the bend. Its all very well living in a village but when people are opening their bedroom windows and shouting down the street after you it all gets a bit much!

Vagolajahooli · 18/12/2013 17:38

Beans, any news on your friend. Is she home from hospital yet?

Indith, you poor thing, clearly your DH should never go out at bedtime. Was a little confused with the rowing. Thought it was the getting cranky sort. English can be very confusing.

Rubes what a dude your Rubesboy is sorting it out after that amateur messed up the lines. You should be super proud.

So DS1 did his IQ test on Monday. His teacher said he was very focused and he was raving about it and wants to do another one. I hope that is a good sign. He also had a developmental assessment with the school doctor today and she is satisfied that there is nothing medically wrong with him. So we'll just have to wait now until the new year when we have an appointment with everyone to bring together all the info. At some point we are going to have to admit we are planning to go home. Hopefully they won't take that as a sign to not bother anymore.

Lordy I've gone out tonight for a couple of pre Christmas drinks with mate and come home half cut. How am I going to do the school run tomorrow. I've just offered DH sex in exchange for him going to work late. But no dice as he as a meeting in Amsterdam. Poop. Xmas Angry I'm not really angry santa I just put that because I wanted to type fangry cos it sounds a bit like fango.

Vagolajahoolitobejolly · 18/12/2013 23:23

A mate not just the mate.

beans37 · 19/12/2013 07:55

Hi all
I haven't managed to speak to my friend yet, but have been texting and leaving messages for her. Plus, the three of us who know about it have sent her the box set of The Thick of It to try and keep her chin up. We didnt really now what else to send.
Oh gosh, baby crying, must go and feed her. Right boob fit to burst. One of my friends had girl twins a couple of days ago. She works for MN. she is one of the loveliest people I know. V exciting!

How do I get DD3 into a daytime routine??? She won't sleep in her cot at all in the day and only really sleeps if we're travelling. Aaaagh! Yesterday she woke up around 2.30 and would NOT have another snooze. She was desperate and sobbing and nothing worked. I ended up giving her her bedtime bottle and putting her to bed at 5pm! Wasn't too bad as DH fed her at 11 and she slept til 4 then 6.30. So I feel ok. Might have to do that again!!

Right, away to be a milk bar xx

beans37 · 19/12/2013 07:55

PS Vag, how's your head this morning??

RTjoke · 19/12/2013 09:26

Veggie you are so funny. (Returning to an old post: you will always be Veggie to me, Lady will always be Lady, Hons is still Jolly in my mind... I'm not good with change!).

Beans, I think the key to naps is catching them before they get tired. DS also sleeps best when very warm. So basically I catch him as soon as he might be tired (at your DD's age that was 60-90 mins after waking) then I bundle him into his snow suit, put him in his pram, jiggle it for 5 mins in a quiet room and hey presto he is snoring.

Mckayz · 19/12/2013 10:08

Can I rack any medical brains please?

My dad had a blood test Tuesday. The doctors just rang to say they need to see him next Tuesday. Dad thinks if it was serious they'd get him in today or tomorrow. So he thinks there's something wrong but nothing to worry about. But I'm worrying. Do you think that's the case?

Indith · 19/12/2013 10:14

Grin vag. How are you this morning?

Beans I have not got a clue, sorry. I mean I agree with the whole catch them before they are tired bit but I never managed it with ds2, too many school and nursery runs at the wrong times.

Kayz I guess it depends on what kind of blood test we are talking about. in mine/my family's experience with tests for various things (not limited to blood tests) stuff like low iron you get a call to pick up a prescription, stuff like cholesterol you might just get told to make an appointment/given an appointment but not emergency so in a week or so to discuss diet/treatment. Properly serious stuff or stuff that has the potential to be serious and needs further investigation gets seen to right away. That's how our surgery works anyway. Hope all is well with him.

Indith · 19/12/2013 10:14

Where is Jam this morning? Did you laugh that baby out Jam?

Mckayz · 19/12/2013 10:26

He's got a hernia. I think it's called an umbilical hernia and he's been having tummy problems. He thinks it's IBS from googling.

Indith · 19/12/2013 10:32

I'm sure if it was serious he'd have been called back sooner.

By dad has had a couple of hernia ops recently. Had one done on one side and a few weeks later developed on on the other side. In and out pretty easily. Perhaps they want to talk more about his tummy problems.

Indith · 19/12/2013 12:25

Bum bum bum

Supposed to be going out later for crimbo drinks and meal with the other student MWs. Dh is in Leeds working, ds2 is being sent home from the CM as he isn't well. Xmas Angry

Bloody typical.

I knew he had a stonking cold, I did not get much sleep last night but he was happy enough this morning until we left the house then he cried on the schoo run and all the way to the CM's so I was hoping it was one of those ones they forget about in the daytime.

Indith · 19/12/2013 12:29

And where is Jam? Jammy do you realise you need to check in every hour otherwise we start speculating?

JamInMyWellies · 19/12/2013 12:36

Still bloody here. Hurumph.

Vagolajahoolitobejolly · 19/12/2013 15:22

Oh the fog is lifting. I should never, ever log onto here when I'm drunk. I only had three beers. Been home with a sick ds2 today, now ds1 has a friend over.

Have done no packing and currently sifting through slightly dodgy smelling ski gear, don't think I have time to wash and dry it til we leave so will just have to stay a bit musty smelling. DHs work sent an awesome Christmas hamper of food bits, so pretty much sorted for car food woohoo. Just need to do coffee and lunch food which will be home made meatball subs for the boys and something simple for us. I bought a new food thermos and dh wants to fill it with fried noodles but that sounds too hard to sort out at 4am in the morning, for a 5am departure time.

I hope you can get to chrimbo booze up Indith.

Jam thinking cervix softening thoughts for you (remember your vagina is a rosebud).

Beans maybe DD3 is on continental time and thinks that she is going to bed at 6pm.

Indith · 19/12/2013 16:13

Good job you didn't go any where near FB isn't it vag Wink

No booze for me. Ds2 seems to have perked up a bit though after sleeping on me on and off for the afternoon. We've had a few episodes of ER while he slept and Octonauts when awake.

Got to go get big ones soon, they've been to the theatre with school.
