VJ look out for DDs breathing becoming much faster or more laboured or any added sounds like wheezing a la babysaurus.

As for DTD, don't worry what it's related to, it'll come back in its own time. Feeling crap about your body image doesn't help, neither does most of the new mum bits. I've always found that its very easy to get into the habit of not doing it though but hard to get out of the habit, so as much as I wasn't really up for it , I wanted to start again before it became a thing, plus as Wors said, it's not all bad once you startSmile. I'm sure it'll be an age before the next time but I don't care now. Just take your time about it and when you feel ready it'll be fine.

I've come to think of myself as SoYo it would seem. I was reading one of the posts thinking, who's Betty? Blush

ecofreckle · 04/11/2013 23:12

Ha ha soyo. You're confused. What hope do I have?

Wing I totally overlooked your milestone today. Well done for getting it out of the way. SOunds like you have good plans in place to make it all work out.

Gerry your goal sounds exciting. Physical personal achievements are rewarding and we'll be urging you onwards as we head towards June. Like betty says I'm thinking it's ok not to over think the sex thing at present. There's loads of factors at play at this stage. On this small forum alone there are plenty of us who have not yet, or only recently, dipped our toes back in. We'll all get there with or without a roomy vagina

worseletrules · 05/11/2013 07:41

Just checking in with my eyelids propped open. Bad night, much waking, with no obvious reason why other than contrariness.

Shattered!!!

Betty every time this happens my respect for you increases 10 fold. How do you survive?!

StormyBrid · 05/11/2013 07:51

Right. I've updated my list of everyone's names, usernames, and babynames, to contain new usernames. Hopefully this will help. Some confusion may be ongoing though.

Gerry you can totally do four stone by June. I did it in five months last year (then got pregnant, v. bad idea in terms of my waistline). Need to do it again for baby number two. Race you? What's your plan of attack?

Fartypants woke up at quarter past six. I look like a zombie. Is it naptime yet?

OP posts:
Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 05/11/2013 08:21

Betty- we occasionally have breathing noises but sounds to me like when you just need to have a good cough as opposed to wheezing per say. She seems fine in herself and no temp. Does that warrant a trip to gp?

Thanks for the encouragement and wise words all. Re:dtd you're right, I'm overthinking it. But yes, I've always been a bit of a one for not fancying the idea til I've got started, and sometimes I wonder whether I should just get the first time out of the way then I'd get back into the swing of things.

Stormy, I'm up for a race, my plan of action? Not sure yet. My brother is a personal trainer and is doing me a plan. He's only doing it two weeks at a time though (so that it doesn't all seem too scary). These two weeks are all about 'kick-starting', he's put me on an eating plan that he admits is totally unsustainable for any more than two weeks. I'm hungry. Basically low carb, low cal, low fat, so yesterday I had 2 boiled eggs, spinach and one slice of rye bread for brekkie, a turkey breast steak and massive salad for lunch, and grilled fish with green veg for dinner. Herbal tea or water only. No exercise yet (under his orders) but I've got an exercise bike as well waiting for when I'm allowed. When you did your 4st in 5months, how did you do it? I've actually got (gasp) 6 st to lose before I'm a healthy weight, but the 4st for my skydive is a more realistic first target. The skydive is for a charity set up after the death of an inspirational student from the school I teach at. He had a very rare cancer and was frankly amazing. His mum has set up this charity and asked me to do this, I'm hoping that by telling people how much weight I'll have to lose as well I'm more likely to get some really good sponsorship.

StormyBrid · 05/11/2013 10:27

Gerry, I am horrified that you have to drink herbal tea. Surely you can lose weight while still drinking proper tea? Although if you have a strong association between tea and biscuits, perhaps not.

As for how I did it... Got an exercise bike, racked up a minimum of 10km on it every day (often more), but found exercise had far less effect on weight loss than eating less. Didn't calorie count initially, just tried to eat less and avoid junk food. And booze. God, the calories in booze. Plus I tended to get the sort of hangover where you need to eat half your body weight in crisps and bacon to feel human the next day, which as you can imagine didn't help matters much. Tried to limit carbs of the bread/pasta/rice variety - bread only once a day and only the one slice, always decent wholemeal stuff, skip the mashed potato at tea time, have pasta sauce on a bed of vegetables, that sort of thing. In terms of calorie reduction it's awesome, because vegetables have bugger all calories in. My dad got me a blender so I had a smoothie for lunch every day, banana and whatever else looked interesting in the greengrocer's. Dealt with hunger by distracting myself - easier then when I was unemployed and had no baby to look after and could just play Warcraft all day.

The hard part was the mental part though, as I expect you can imagine. I've always been fat and I've always had terrible eating habits and I've always enjoyed the act of eating too much. It wasn't just a case of "If I stick with this diet for a year I'll be skinny and then I can go back to eating properly, hurrah!" It was more a case of having to revise my way of thinking about food and figure out a way of eating that was sustainable. If you weren't overweight pre-pregnancy and it's just baby weight you've got to shift you'll have the advantage over me there - you can revert to your prepregnancy eating patterns, maybe throw in some exercise, and then just carry on with life as the weight falls off.

Incidentally, your meal plan yesterday sounds lovely (except the spinach). And Fartypants is awake (I think? Or moaning in her sleep? It's far too early!) so I better dash.

yummychocolate · 05/11/2013 10:32

gerry i missed your sky diving. Wow. You are a bit of a dare devil as you say its all in the name of charity. I wish you all the best.

worse big hugs. Must be teething.

stormy you have a list? Are you one of those people who has a spreadsheet for christmas presents?

Ironing is done, a load is washing and bottles are sterilised. Weather is horrible so me and ds will be having a lazy day at home.

Anyone on mirena having stomach cramps mid cycle? I was doubled up in pain yesterday. Its not the first time its happened.Tiny spotting as well but stopped. Pain continued well into the night.

StormyBrid · 05/11/2013 10:39

I had to make a list! Couldn't keep track of who was who on facebook otherwise.

Yesterday I made a grave error. I remarked to the man that DD had been in a much better mood all day, and Sunday. Much less shouty. Today I am regretting my haste. Woke up early, wouldn't go back to sleep, shouty all morning, slept for all of forty five minutes, now won't sleep again, it's going to be a bloody long day. Damn you, Sod's Law!

OP posts:
Plonkysaurus · 05/11/2013 13:01

Gerry wow amazing to have such a useful brother. It sounds like he's got you off to a great start. It'll be hard at first, I don't know who wouldn't be hungry on that diet, but it'll pay off big dividends. I'm in the same boat as Stormy in that I need to reset my brain to think differently about food. I'm a bit of a Sophie Dahl (except not as fucking whimsical) in that I've been tiny and I've been big. I've not much more to lose (thanks D&V), maybe a stone, but I seriously need to sort out my relationship with food.

Worse you are too kind! I'm blushing here. Sounds like DH has become quite the hero! First a spoilt birthday then settling the baby...

Stormy can you take a photo of the list and put it on Marchers? I am far too tired to know who's who.

Yummy KF Chocolate Forever sounds shit. Sorry duck. Chocolate?

I've cracked open the laptop for once. I'm trying to make the invitey bit of the wedding invitations, and bugger me if I don't know what to put. I think I had a grand total of about 4 hours sleep last night, so do you think people will mind if I just put 'show up or fuck off at [venue, date etc], get pissed and go ome'?

Plonkysaurus · 05/11/2013 14:16

OH MY WORD.

An acquaintance has had an 11lb4oz baby. I'm shocked.

There are no more words.

ecofreckle · 05/11/2013 14:22

Yikes. Bet that smarted. Overdue?
How you doing on the wording front? I'll pm you a link to ours for You to laugh at inspiration.

Plonkysaurus · 05/11/2013 16:02

Nope baby was on time. She ended up having an emergency c-section though as baby got stuck (no surprises there then).

Ooh I'd love to see yours! Mine's a bit cheeky so far. I've left out the swearing but I fear it may still be too tongue in cheek for some.

I've just had a kick up the bum, weight-loss wise. Chewing the fat with a friend online, showed them a photo of me this time last year, 21 weeks pregnant. Her reaction told me everything I need to know. Apparently I'm only slightly bigger than that now. Blush

She had trouble digging herself out of that hole.

yummychocolate · 05/11/2013 16:32

Wow what a whopper. Imagine delivering a baby that size.

plonky i cant wait to see you turn into a bridezilla. Smile The stress of planning a wedding especially the invites is too much. thats what happens when you have a wedding for 500.

BettyOff · 05/11/2013 16:41

Gerry I prob wouldn't go to the GP with that but if you're at all concerned just go, it's not worth the time spent worrying. Also your weight loss plan sounds great. I'm a sucker for bad things and inappropriate snacking but I can balance it out with exercise and then eat mostly what I want. Unfortunately I'm not doing much exercise at the moment and still eating like a pig, I'm hoping it'll work itself out when I'm back at work. Being ridiculously tall helps too though, people don't really notice a stone or so either way.

Wors my sleeping patterns have been a lot better the last few weeks and so when we have a bad night I really feel it. I think for the first 7mo I must have just got used to it!

Plonky, I hope you have your friend 'the look' and asked her if she meant to be so rude!

I'm on my phone and have forgotten what else I wanted to say to who! I'll try again later.

Madam is a snotbag and very clingy. We've had a nice day visiting friends and then I popped into the supermarket to buy some chicken and ended up spending £50. This keeps happening! Bad me. I've got friends coming for dinner later and need to stick a casserole in but that involves putting my phone down and removing the Velcro baby.

StormyBrid · 05/11/2013 17:51

Progress report from Shouty Baby World: we have achieved standing up without the aid of the big people! I have suspected for some time now that if we had any conveniently sized and placed bits of furniture DD would be pulling herself up on them. She has just proved me right. Then she fell over, but she was so chuffed with herself she barely cried at all. She is now sitting with an entire slice of peanut butter on toast stuck to her chin and watching Neighbours. Must work on her taste in soaps next...

OP posts:
BettyOff · 05/11/2013 18:45

Oi, Stormy, there's nothing wrong with Neighbours! I've been watching since 1988 so I'd be a quitter if I stopped now!

Well done mini-Stormy Smile

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 05/11/2013 19:59

Well dd seems far less chesty today but has been a total pain to be honest. Won't be put down but doesn't want to be held, won't let me out of her sight. Daytime sleep is all over the place. And all I want is a slice of toast mini-stormy had better keep a tight hold of that peanut butter on toast

Day was improved by a cuppa at a friend's house, change of scenery, other babies and different toys always helps.

Neighbours? Many happy childhood memories watching that. I still remember my evening routine when I was little. 5pm dinner, 5.35 neighbours, 6pm bath, 7pm bed. Set in stone. Then it went and moved to ch5, and I just kind of...forgot. My soap addiction has dwindled, an unexpected consequence of having a baby. not even hollyoaks anymore. Still, my eastenders loyalty is second to none...

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 05/11/2013 20:09

Oh god. Professional masterchef is not a great idea when I've just had another grilled fish/green veg dinner.

somethingbeginningwith · 05/11/2013 20:09

Plonk how big?! And I thought DS was a big baby. Bless her, still, at least she lost over 11lbs that day...good going weight loss-wise.

betty that means you've been watching Neighbours my whole life Wink

yummy kudos to you doing a skydive and having weight loss inspiration. I'm reading everything you're all saying on that topic with interest. I don't know, and have no intention of knowing, how fat I am how much weight I need to lose but I know I want it to be lost. Re-signed back up to my gym so hopefully that'll spur me on, I prefer to exercise than diet (read: I bloody love food too much)

stormy hooray for standing, now you'll be busy Wink I spend my days following the small person around every room. He let go of things today to see how long he could stand alone for. About a second, it was.

yummychocolate · 05/11/2013 20:46

something its not me who is going skydiving. The world would end if I chose to do something like that. Im not a risk taker im vanilla. Sad

stormy well done to ministormy. This where the fun begins. She will now climb up your legs to be picked up and lots of pretty handprints everywhere.

I loved neighbours too. Gerry my routine was similar to yours but I used to watch home and away too.

somethingbeginningwith · 05/11/2013 20:52

Oops, sorry yummy, I meant gerry...they both end in a 'y', that's a good enough excuse, right?

worsestershiresauce · 05/11/2013 21:36

I just wrote a long post only to realise it was a bit of a moaning mini wail so I deleted it.

Brief synopsis:

  • the worslet has been a grumpy pants cross patch all day and has broken her mummy.
  • I, being mummy, am broken.
  • DH being a man, has his concerned face on, which requires me to remember 'the wise words of Worse and restrain myself from punching him.

Other than that my word rocks Grin

Gerry I will sponsor you, because you are crazy mad brave and imo look gorgeous with or without the 4 stone.

Stormy Go mini-storm you clever mini person.

Neighbours - I clearly remember a life before it even existed. I know, beggars belief.

Plonk Ouch. That's just wrong.

Everyone else I have completely run out of memory as to what you have been up to, which is rubbish, and I'll check in with you tomorrow.

Night all. Hugs because I'm in a soppy emotional mood

worsestershiresauce · 05/11/2013 21:37

PS I'm also too knackered to name change!!!!

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 05/11/2013 21:59

Hugs back wors cos I'll hug anyone who tells me I'm gorgeous

Plonkysaurus · 06/11/2013 00:37

Oh for fucks sake. I've had enough now.

Baby had a lovely day and actually ate things. Stupid mummy decided he was well enough for milk. And toast. And a banana. Because he was! He had a lovely long nap then a bit of dinner. Then because it was all going so well we gave him a bath and a small bottle at the normal time. Nice burp then off to his own bed.

Five hours later I am being woken by a frantic dp to tell me DS has coughed and been sick in his sleep. Back to fucking square one, no sleep for me despite my early night/cold that wont fucking shift, worries about DS and having an argument in the middle if the night because dp cannot handle sick.

AIBU to ltb?
