I have 6lb to go at 6 weeks post partum, but a stone to target of 10st7. I've been in the same jeans for a week, now have some clean ones so we shall see how they fit tomorrow

Depending on side effects R may have to be an only Sad but she more likely meant it in the sense that you're busy and know what to do so won't be bugging them every five minutes needing them so much

My MW said "see you again in a couple of years" as she discharged me. It didn't click that she was referring to baby no 2 as I was walking out the building, I stupidly thought she was going to be doing some kind of follow up later on, doh!

Got Ewan and the bouncy chair going in an attempt to teach Felix he doesn't need to be cuddled 24/7, it appears to be working, he is snoring away beautifully!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 01/01/2013 20:45

Was looking at development stuff online earlier and baby centre was saying that they should be having tummy time at 3 weeks. I didn't realise we were supposed to do it this early. We had a go earlier and Ethan did really well. He got his head up to change sides 4-5 times, and didn't get stressed for about 10 minutes. Very proud of him. DH is worried that he doesn't follow objects with his eyes yet. Anyone know when they should do this? He's only just started having eye contact with me. He does look at light sources though, windows, tv etc.

Hello all, happy birthday stacey and welcome nettles. Well I have out on 6lb (!) in a couple of weeks, which is a bit disappointing as I came out of the pregnancy a stone lighter than before it but have now put half of it back on. I guess it has been Christmas though. I need to get back into a better eating regime. Or perhaps my current new bleeding IS my period. Eek.

Someone asked about health visitor clinics - we're planning to go once a week at the moment because little Z's weight gain is so slow and he's still so small. We're also going to the GP once a week for them to keep an eye on his weight too. The discharge midwife on Sunday said that we could be referred to a paediatrician if we wanted but I'd like to give it another week to see if he's picked up to a decent weight curve. We're still giving formula top ups but have switched to aptamil which does seem to be making him less gassy.

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 01/01/2013 20:47

Aren't hormones strange? All through my pregnancy I thought never again eveb though ive always wanted 2. but the second they handed me the baby I knew I had to do it again and I couldn't imagine only doing it once more. I'd do it now if my fanjo wasn't so sore, but maybe best to wait til the hormones settle Grin

My clinic is on this week State so maybe just check, they should be able to check your scar for you too.

Good news about DP pidj would you all be going home together or would you stay with his family for a while?

I'm 3lb lighter now than I was pre-pregnancy, but the dietician wants me to lose another 7lbs due to the risk of diabetes in later life following the GD. I feel too skinny though, I'm a gum bunny so am generally more muscular than this.

WLmum · 01/01/2013 20:50

Hi state! Glad to hear all is going well and lily is gaining well. I'm so sad about tabs being our last - although the pg was hard, I do miss her being inside and could cry that I'm already putting things in the too small bag. I know it's def right to stop at 3 but I think spotty is right, I'd feel sad no matter how many I had because I love being a mummy and am constantly blown away by it (and alternately driven to despair!).

Secondsop · 01/01/2013 20:53

stacey Z is 4.5 weeks old and he does follow objects with his eyes but not very much at all. He's more interested in light sources. He makes eye contact but often looks just past us, which is a bit weird. His eye contact has only been pretty recent though. He's still asleep for a fair amount pof the day actually.

I'm quite sure he can't see our black cat yet at all.

WLmum · 01/01/2013 20:54

Sounds like you're all doing really well with weight - I've got about a stone and a half to go! Ate an awful lot of chocolate while pg!

Secondsop · 01/01/2013 21:52

wlmum - I had gestational diabetes. that's the only reason I didn't balloon like a ship in full sail during pregnancy!

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 01/01/2013 22:14

Same here Wlmum couldn't eat crap due to GD

SpottyTeacakes · 01/01/2013 22:24

Ds is sleeping like a snotty angel and I can't sleep! Dp said he'd do the next feed knowing my luck ds won't wake for ages for dp whereas it was two hourly last night Hmm

ellliebelle · 01/01/2013 22:26

I had gd too which i hated whilst pregnant but the fact that ds isnt 2 weeks old yet and i weigh a stone and 2lb lighter than i did pre pregnancy makesbit not so bad in hindsight. i do still have about 2 stone to loose though which im not looking forward to :(

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 01/01/2013 22:39

We've got one wide awake bambino tonight. He's kicking and chatting while DP and I look on in despair. The 7am alarm will kill us.

Bellaboo123 · 01/01/2013 22:44

Snap willyou - she's totally fighting falling asleep!

Bellaboo123 · 01/01/2013 22:45

I haven't braved weighing myself especially after I've been eating loads of choc recently! So pissed off with myself! Diet starts tomorrow (along with half the rest of the world lol)

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 01/01/2013 22:45

Little buggers!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 01/01/2013 23:10

Up feeding, had been asleep for an hour pretty sure he'll go back to sleep afte, he's not wide awake, I haven't seen his eyes this feed! Lol

MaMaPo · 01/01/2013 23:15

Another awake baby here too. She just took her first bottle feed with expressed milk and downed over 100ml in no time flat. Yet here we are, back on the breast. I hope she falls asleep after this, she barely slept today. My husband gave the bottle feed - he loved it.

My girl hasn't been weighed since day 10. She's 4 weeks tomorrow, and if the clinic is open I might pop down. I have no doubt she has gained but I'm curious how much.

Has anyone used Colief drops for grassiness? Any opinions?

MaMaPo · 01/01/2013 23:16

Lol at grassiness.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 01/01/2013 23:33

mama Ethan hasn't been weighed since day 10 either, like you I'm not worried but am really curious to how he's doing. No idea about college but I'm sure somebody mentioned it further up thread so hopefully someone can give some advice.

ellliebelle · 01/01/2013 23:47

Well ds is asleep doesn't want to wake up to feed so i have expressed and am going to go to sleep what's betting he wakes up when I've been asleep for about 20 mins:(

Secondsop · 02/01/2013 00:32

mamapo we've not used colief but have used infacol and it does seem to help a little. We're combination-feeding and he only has wind after the bottles, very rarely after the breast, even though he sometimes cluster feeds for hours. we have found that switching to aptamil (from SMA) has made a difference for gasiness and for spitting up too.

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 02/01/2013 00:40

We're on infacol too. That plus anti-colic bottles have done wonders for his colic. Left it at my parents today though and here I am still winding after 1.5 hours Confused

yuletopian99 · 02/01/2013 01:14

Glad you're feeling better about Dh stacey.

Missed replying earlier as we've had Epic Day of Guests. Pils and friends plus midwife - Oz has lost 6% of birth weight at 5 days old, she seems to think this is okay though.. He seems fine on the feeding so assuming all is okay, just wish he'd do more in the day and sleep more at night.

pidj great news about your dp! Smile On nappy front, we have bumgenius pockets for day and little lambs two parters for night as I'm told they're more absorbent although more faff? Sticking to microfibre as we have no tumble drier.. From memory about 5 little lambs and 12 bumgenius, all ebay purchases as i figured why pay for brand new when after one use they'll.be in the same state anyway.

clarella and others thanks for the advice/sympathy re emotions. I think Dh is slightly worried it's something more sinister than just tiredness/hormones, which is all i think it is. He's been telling me not to bottle it up, which to be fair I have form for, but no history of depression. Fell asleep in DH's arms with Oz in his hammock this eve; only lasted for an hour and he is now awake again but even a snatched hour together makes me feel so much happier..

yuletopian99 · 02/01/2013 01:16

Oops that was a bit epic.

Also want to say a big thankyou Thanks to everyone on thread as having people to talk to, in much the same boat, makes the epic night feeds feel so much less hard..
