they're starting to arrive, so here's our 'Due in August' post natal thread. To talk poo, pee, burping and everything else, too...

Here's link to antd-natal thread for those we'll be waiting for www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1511603-Due-in-August-Thread-Part-6

Have borrowed Needles list, which I'll start here, please feel free to add your details to it. I'm rubbish at list keeping, and hopefully Needles will be along to keep it updated :o

Keep thinking of something else to say! Was so excited to see my puffy ankles looking normal again right after birth, but now they're all puffed up again. Hmph :( Anyone else?

hamncheese · 19/08/2012 17:52

I feel your pain with the stitches cath how long since he was born... As of 2 weeks I don't feel any pain it's just mildly tight feeling now and that was an episiotomy and second degree tear so yay!

Also breaking news... Sandy has pooped several times today which puts me at ease. He really had to work at it this morning though poor soul... Mornings seem like tough times for his bowels. Thanks also for Poo advice needles ishop Poppy and cath

Hey picture congrats on the wee one! Jaundice sucks... But passes, sandy sill as a little tinge to his eye whites but is a lot better, good it's been so sunny for our yellow babies!

Thought today would be so stressful but wasn't. We were to visit sandys great grandparents for the first time 45 mins away and that was it, but yesterday SIL text asking for visit with her 4 rather rambunctious boys. Also other SIL and MIL and FIL were to come Saturday but then they said they were busy. dH feeling all pressured to accommodate them and give us time to chill so decided we would just visit them today on way home as nephews are far easier to deal with in their own home. I thought it'd be tough as sandy was so upset in the car seat last time and would want lots of feeds. Plus last time in laws I was feeding and they all sat at the other side of the room with their backs to me :/ yeah but sandy was perfect all day and it's all over. So this week just got to register him tomorrow and DH is off all week so just the three of us and nothing needing done thank goodness!

Have you moved yet ishop or will costing movers? Must say I am Envy of your moving! Hope it goes really well!

With you on the pee fountains of our boys! Sandy likes to soak his clothes while on the changing table then get really pissed off when you put new clothes on hehe! Anyone else feel a bit timid to wipe vigorously around their bits? The midwife was so rough, I guess they aren't as sensitive as adult men's are then? Grin

Also lovely DH bought me a locket to put pics of sandy in and his name and birthday are engraved on the back

hamncheese · 19/08/2012 17:55

My ankles stayed puffed for a week cath then went down and back to regular shoes!

ishopthereforeiam · 19/08/2012 18:32

Ah ham that's such thoughtful gift from DH! Sounds like you have your hands full with all teh visits! I am in denial and telling people we can't travel -Hmm although have managed to make it to the shopping malls when I need to! Looks like we'll move in a fortnight although no idea how I can pack up the house in that time! We found some much cheaper movers too (less than half the price of the original quote we got)!

Finding the heat v tough going - keep meaning to ask what are all of your babies wearing in this heat!? we did have ds in onesies (no vest!) up until a few days and now I have just put him in vests as it is absolutely baking. Poor thing gets a sweaty head (which I can see oh too clearly as we had to shave it). Poor ds really has been through the mill!

Cape really feel for you with teh stitches, not much help but what I found helped a little was using a donut cushion (or you can roll a towel up and then make it into a circle shape) so you can rest the affected area when sitting. And don't walk / stand too much or you may feel like your insides are about to drop out!? It does get better (eventually!) although post dd I found it v hard to get comfy bf'ing as I have to sit quite straight up.

Melting in the heat...

The3Bears · 19/08/2012 19:51

Hi Everyone,

I had baby Noah 3 days ago Grin been so busy with the constant bfeeding and snuggles, hope you and your babies are all well :)

hamncheese · 19/08/2012 20:45

Yes ishop I've been totally flummoxed with what he is wearing too! Our gro egg has our room at 25 degrees at night eek! Also a problem for us is that his legs are soooo long they don't fit anything with legs, I actually had to cut the feet off some sleep suits in the early days to have something with long sleeves to fit. We went out and got him some from h&m which have long sleeves and also don't go over the head so we can change his clothes at night if he leaks with minimal fuss. Even though it's hot his arms and legs get a bit cold if uncovered so in bed with us he has his long sleeve and a muslin over the legs and in his basket the same but an extra muslin as no heat from me. During the day just a short sleeve body suit. I really hope it will cool down soon it's too hot all the time, I can only imagine how hot it is down south though!

cape I second ishop on not walking too much in the first week it makes it a lot more uncomfy. I got a really achey bum too from sitting on one cheek to ease pressure from the middle too! Lie down as much as possible, feed lying down too if you can, it was the sitting up feeding that hurt most!

Sandy just fed pooped and burped so hoping he will sleep a good stint now after his big day out... Early to bed for us!

Vinolover · 19/08/2012 20:59

So glad sandy is pooping well ham :). It's steaming in our room at night too and even with the windows open there doesn't seem to be any air!

I do feel for you ladies with stitches :(. I thankfully didn't have them this time but I know how uncomfortable they can be!

William has slept beautifully the last couple of days since combination feeding :). He's much more content and perfectly happy in his moses. The poor little mite was just so hungry :(. I've bought a breast pump but my goodness it takes a couple of attempts to even get 3ozs out! I will stick with it for a while though and hope it improves.

Does anybody else just sit and stare at their baby? I swear I could sit forever just looking at him :)

Loislane78 · 19/08/2012 21:05

Hi everyone, moving over from the ante-natal thread - hurrah!

Day 4 and things going ok so far, bit of jaundice we're working through so hopefully that will have improved by tomorrow.

Useful to have read how you're all getting on, sure this will be really helpful support :)

Hope everyone an their LOs are well :)

Congratulations lois , what did you have?

Day 1 of flying solo with all three children today! William slept like a dream again last night which means I've been able to wake up earlier to get ready for our day out. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly, I'm so paranoid of forgetting something, or someone Hmm

Hope everyone has some nice plans this week :)

hamncheese · 20/08/2012 08:23

Hi lois glad to hear things are going ok :)

vino nice to hear that William is sleeping better now too!

So sandy has a new trick, and it's called being a foghorn all, night, long! Seriously he grunts, groans, moans and creaks (sounds like a door in need of wd40!) and it is so so loud I can't sleep. Add this to sirens, fing karaoke til 12.30 and neighbours who move things in the middle of th night and you get me freaked out with hardly any sleep. Thing is sandy is the most disruptive I can't turn my brain off to his noises yet he sleeps soundly through all his racket!

Anyone else got any advice? Im thinking of ear plugs...

MiniPopsMum2012 · 20/08/2012 11:32

Hey everyone, waves
Ham Minipop is a very noisy baby, he's so noisy I think we're going to put him in his own room already with a monitor when we move. My DP can hear him even through earplugs. He also grunts, groans, squeeks, retches, strains - you name it he does it in his sleep. :o

I also have the pee-pee fountains when changing, I do remember most times but a couple of times recently I've not been paying attention and then get covered in a shower of wee (as does little MiniPop), he managed to wee on his face the other day Blush

The past few days MiniPop has just been in a short sleeved vest and nappy, and that's it. Covered with a muslin when sleeping if he feels a bit cold, or overnight when it gets a bit cooler, but it's still 24c in our bedroom and way too hot.

Today is the first day I've put trousers on him, and that's because it's a bit cooler and I've got all the windows open.

We're also moving in two weeks, we have movers coming to do us, too - and am also freaking out (ishop) about packing up house in that amount of time as well as look after LO. eek!! Confused

capecath · 20/08/2012 17:00

ham ishop thanks for the advice about stitches. Just so uncomfortable! After having a terrible day with them yesterday they are feeling a lot better today so that is really good. He is just 6 days old so hopefully we will see more improvement soon!

DS let me sleep 11:30pm-2:30am, then 4am-7:30am last night - super :)

ishopthereforeiam · 20/08/2012 21:15

Oh minipop I did laugh about the pee fountains on face Blush sorry! Also - let me know if you discover the trick to packing (!)

I also found the muslin thing helpful with sleeping - last night DS slept in a vest with muslin to cover him up... He still loves being awake with only power naps between 8pm-1am which is quite a challenge for us as dd goes to bed at 8 so we get no down time but thems the breaks!

Welcome over lois and 3bears

ham ds moves about lots and groans a bit which wakes me up and I think sometimes I feed him when he would self settle but nevermind(!)

Opened ds bank account today Grin

Hi officially moving over here with MiniGere, born 5:41am on Sunday after a long and eventually very drug addled labour. Had an amazing second stage though... we are now home and learning about each other. Will catch up properly soon. Grin

The3Bears · 21/08/2012 08:59

Congratulations mrgereshamster :)

Finally settling in here my milk has come in and Noah's been so much calmer it's lovely, the sleepless nights are hard but they're so worth it. I just cant stop staring at him so in love with him already, How has anyones other children been with the new arrivals? ds is very scared to hold him but is showering him with kisses so hoping he becomes more comfortable soon.

Anyone doing anything nice today? Im hoping for a nice walk to the park after the midwife has been for heel prick test :(

hamncheese · 21/08/2012 19:49

Hi bears glad things are going ok!

Talking of pee hitting baby's face... The other day sandy came off my breast with such vigour he ended up with a dozen splats of milk all over his face hehehe!

I stare at him and routinely cry over how perfect he is Blush and also if he sleeps in his basket for a few hours I actually miss his presence!!

Had another poor night as I can't turn off his noises and couldn't sleep unless he was right beside me so hardly slept. Tonight I'm just having him in the bed with me to get some rest!!

Conversely had a brilliant day though. Took sandy to town in the sling he was perfect. Had the pram just in case but no need he slept the whole time with a break for feed and change :D feel so much more confident about slinging it now! Got a new phone after my old one died when on the postnatal ward on a really good contract and DH anniversary card and stuff to go with the mug I've ordered him with sandy on.

Hope you are all coping well and enjoying this time as much as we are

Gnomi · 21/08/2012 22:00

What kind of a sling have you got Ham? I've been lent a Moby Wrap but I'm a bit nervous about it and would prefer a more structured one.

Congratulations Lois and Mrgereshamster!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 22/08/2012 01:13

Gnomi I've got the caboo sling. It took a while to get used to it, but now I've got the hang of it, it's pretty handy for short trips. DS likes it at the mo as it keeps him upright & welded to my chest. It was scary the first few times I used it, but have more confidence now I've used it a few times. Am still going to get a baby bjorn type carrier, as think Minipop will prefer that when he is a bit older :o

Minipop was weighed today - 10.4lbs...!! he's 12 weeks actual, 2 weeks corrected.

stupid question, but what do you do with your babies in a typical day? :) (if there is one!)

Gingerelle · 22/08/2012 09:24

Just saying hello on here, nice to be on the other side!!! Hope you're all ok. We had first walk around park yesterday in evening sunshine which was sooo lovely and this morning a great big poo- filled nappy which was less lovely but I am as thrilled to see! Hurrah for the babies being finally here!!

hamncheese · 22/08/2012 10:17

I've got a moby gnomi it takes a bit of practice but is worth it, keeps him so secure and comfy. You could try a mei tai like the baby hawk of napsack if you want something more structured and easier to tie on. I'd recommend going to a sling meet and test driving them!

susiegrapevine · 22/08/2012 13:50

Hey all moving over to the ante-natal club. Jacob George born yesterday 21/08/12 7lb 10.5 oz. Born at home following lovely home birth with 2 fab midwives. Hope everyone is doing ok. Not read the whole thread but just the last page. We are both doing fine and he cannot seem to leave booby alone!

WelshLadyCDF · 22/08/2012 16:27

Room for another? Day 6 here, Molly arrived by section weighing 11lbs, I didn't know they made babies that big! The whole experience at the hosp wasnt great, but the staff there were awesome, i even gave Molly the middle name Kate after my midwife (in a post op haze, good job she had a decent name).

ham I can also cry just by looking at her face, or when she cries, in fact I can cry about anything these days. She is losing weight too, Sad, they're sending in the breastfeeding hit squad to help me tomorrow.

Good luck all, it's a but scary isn't it Blush, is it ok to say that?!

Xx

WelshLadyCDF · 22/08/2012 16:46

needles for the list Molly was born 17/08/12.
